Why do people always assume I'm lying?

Sitting on the metal fire escape, the trickster surveyed the city of New York that he seemed to be trapped in. He might as well try to make a life for himself here for the time being while he tried to figure out how he was going to get back home. "You don't have the power to get back to your world," Ikol said, perched on the railing that Loki too was sat on. Green eyes flickered to the magpie. "Very helpful, Ikol. Don't you have any ideas?" The boy asked impatiently, eyes fixed on the creature. "You don't exactly have the power. You have barely any magic and the chances of being able to confront whoever started this is very slim," The magpie answered and he gave a frustrated smile. "As if I could get any good news from the evil me," He replied and Ikol ruffled his feathers and hoped along the fire escape.
With some dejection, he turned to look out across the city, or what he could see from half way up a fire escape. The road below him was quiet and he smiled, enjoying the peace. At least there wasn't a load of traffic. Back home, there was no traffic and yet it seemed so common to here. As he stared ahead, he noticed a young child sitting in the middle of the road, looking dazed. Loki frowned. "Ikol, keep an eye on the road, if there's any traffic coming, tell me," He ordered and the bird flew into the air but returned almost immediately.
In seconds Loki was on his feet and sliding down the fire escape, moving as fast as he could. He was reaching the bottom already, having practically flown down. No doubt his brother would already have gotten down by now what with all flying. "What are you going to do?" Ikol said as Loki broke into a sprint. "You're not Thor! You're not cut out for all of this! He protested, flying out besides him, wings beating the air. "I'm just as good," Loki said, gritting his teeth, feet now touching the tarmac. The child hadn't noticed the oncoming car. Ikol flew upwards and Loki grabbed the child, almost tripping as he carried the young boy to the other side.
There was the sound of a car swerving behind him, just as the trickster reached the other side of the road and then the car drove off. Loki caught a glimpse of it, going off into the distance. He was breathing heavily and Ikol fluttered to sit besides him. "See, your not meant for this!" The bird said but Loki turned to examine the boy who looked rather shocked. He could see the tears that had been on the boy's face. "I don't know where my mummy and daddy are...." The boy sniffed and the trickster let out a heavy sigh, still slightly shaken but already calming down. "Yeah, a lot of us are in the same boat. Best you don't play on roads though. Or sit on them," He replied, keeping his tone as light as he could.

*NOTE: Captain America’s role in this thread takes place after the event of Land of Confusion.
Captain America did not find himself in SoHo for the scenery. Back at the Tower there had been multiple emergency calls, people reporting being attacked and robbed by gangs. This was extremely odd because SoHo was not the kind of neighborhood where that was an issue. What’s more, some of the calls had mentioned the victim thinking they may have recognized one or more of the attackers. Law enforcement was stretched thin as it was and no new Avengers Cards had been picked up, so Steve decided to investigate things himself. It would be good field testing for his fixed up body, anyway.
Steve opted to go a little less obvious with his appearance for this assignment, so he had thrown his shield on his back and put over his uniform a button up shirt, some trousers, and a bomber jacket. He left his mask back at the tower as it would not fit properly in any of his pockets, despite his best efforts. The attacks had all been within the past few hours so whoever they were had no qualms about attacking in broad daylight; Steve hoped this would make things that much easier to find them and stop this.
As he continued his recon, without much luck so far, he noticed quite a scene. Rounding a corner, his eyes caught a child about to be hit by a car. He shot off to try to save the child, but halted quickly realizing there was no need. Some brave you kid had risked their own life to save this kid. Steve’s heart swelled a bit, happy to know that even everyday people were putting the craziness of this situation aside (although people probably had no idea exactly what had actually happened) to help their fellow man. As he looked on, something starting seeming off to him. The rescuer was dressed in a rather odd fashion. It kind of reminded him of the way some of Thor’s fellow Asgardians dressed. When Steve realized that the little hero looked an awful lot like a kid version of Loki, it hit him. Thor had talked about it, but seeing it with your own eyes was a sight to behold. Loki, as a kid.
Steve didn’t know what to feel at the moment, as this was Loki, prince of lies or tricks or whatever he wanted to call his treacherous nature. But Thor had said how this new version seemed to want to make up for his adult self’s misdeeds. Rather than go on previous prejudice’s Steve decided he’d find out for himself just how repentant Thor’s brother really was.
Marching up, he placed a hand on the tiny god’s shoulder. “Thor told me you had changed, but you really have to see it for yourself to believe, huh Loki?”

Sitting at the side of the road, Loki didn't pay too much attention to the fact that the child had muttered something about heading to the police station to see if he could find his parents. "Ikol, keep an eye on him," He muttered to the bird who gave him an exasperated look. But Ikol did take to the air, about to follow. Loki's eyes stared at the road, deep in thought. He had saved a life, done what was right but his brother still wasn't here. There was no use crying over split milk, the saying went. His brother wasn't here and there was nothing he could do about it. This just reminded him so much more of the absence of the one person who had protected him from the other Asgardians. The person who was going to have to die in his home world.
"Loki, I would look out. You've got some company coming," Ikol warned, flying back to Loki barely before starting to trail the kid. "Where?" Loki asked before he felt a hand on his shoulder. Eyes flickered to the man who had come up behind him, green eyes taking in the form and the words that were spoken. It was Captain America, protector of Midgard and he knew that his former self hadn't exactly been on speaking terms with this man.
"So I'm told. And most people struggle to believe it even then," He said quickly, moving to stand up. Although his tone was light and friendly, he was cautious. When his brother had been jailed for wanting to support Midgard (not so long ago for him), it hadn't taken long for the more relatively friendly Asgardians to try and put a knife through him. It was only Volstagg that had protected him from an untimely end and before that, well if his brother didn't show up, many were willing to rough house with him. Even those that where physically adults compared to his child-like physique.
He suspected mortals would be less inclined to lay a hand on a child who was formerly evil but he wasn't completely certain. After all, he had been pretty evil and many people had suffered because of it. He had a lot to repay. A lot that he had to do. But as it was, he needed to try and make sure that he wasn't going to have a difference of opinions with Captain America, primarily on what side he, Loki, was on.
Besides, he might be able to get some useful information.
"Say, have you seen Thor around here?" He asked, face looking slightly hopeful and Ikol dropped his head slightly. "You care too much," The magpie muttered but Loki ignored him, knowing that none but he had heard the words uttered by the bird that only his eyes could see. He was still ready to defend himself if it came to it but the patron of America didn't seem to be waiting for him to let his guard down or preparing for an attack. Instead he seemed rather passive. Nice change.

Steve folded his arms and stared down the juvenile god. The look on his face clearly expressed his suspicion that the lord of all lies was up to something. From his perspective, there was only one positive thing that had ever been done because of the trickster god; being enough of a threat for superheroes to band together to stop him, forming the first incarnation of The Avengers. He wasn't a member of that version, but after being thawed out Steve had done a great deal of history studying, considering some of it involved him. Old habits die hard, so even though Steve believed Thor about the new leaf Loki had turned, he kept his wits about him should the tiny god try anything.
“No Loki; unfortunately your brother hasn't been seen yet,” Steve said as he relaxed his arms. “In fact, there are a lot of people missing from the city. Honestly, I’m not even sure this even IS the New York I know. But for now, we’re all stuck here, and unless you've got something up your sleeve that means you too.” The thought of Loki being trapped here was actually somewhat appealing, but the look on the child’s face as he asked about his brother’s whereabouts showed something Steve didn't think was even possible for the god of mischief; concern for Thor.
Seeing that, Steve thought maybe Loki really would be willing to give the good side a shot. If that were the case, maybe he could be convinced to lend a hand in this current situation. At the very least, it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. “Thor said you were interested in making up for past evils. If that’s true, I've got a proposition for you. I’m on a stakeout right now, but walk with me and I’ll explain everything that’s happened.” If Loki joined the cause, then Steve believe anything was possible.

Looking up at the older hero, the young god refused to look away although he did blink. It would be rude, hostile even, to stare without relaxing. But the hero clearly didn't trust him, Loki could see it in his eyes. Like everyone else, it seemed that the Captain would not believe him or his brother. It seemed that he really was a burden on Thor, Loki knew well enough that some of the Asgardians were questioning their great protector as he had accepted 'the little rat' back into the arms of Asgard. Loki sighed and looked away, focusing on Ikol who was watching with interest.
Green eyes shot back to the American hero as he heard the man start talking but the child like face fell slightly at the answer that he received and his eyelids lowered, almost closed at this thought. So his brother wasn't here. The man who was the only one who truly trusted and protected him. And back home, Loki knew that he was about to die. That he had to die. Could it be that he hadn't been sighted because... a tear pricked at his eye at this thought. He had always been more emotional than his former self. He didn't want Thor dead. Maybe that was selfish of him. But he loved his brother as much as he needed his protection. The trickster angled his head slightly so the lone tear would hopefully be unobserved and he casually brushed his face to as if something had disturbed his skin to his the fact that he was removing any trace of the tear. "He said 'yet', Ikol commented, never too impressed with Loki's bursts of emotion.
"I've looked for a way out but found nothing. It's a powerful force that's made this. I don't suppose you'd know anything about it?" He asked. Ikol had already told him that this had the touch of the Infinity Gems to it but that was all that the bird had been able to share. The rest was guess work for the two. Any new information would be welcome. After all, Loki was desperate to get back. He needed to find out whether Thor was really dead, he needed to make sure that he could save the nine realms.
A smile came across his face, which the trickster made look more carefree, at the next words the hero have to offer. Loki wanted to change the views on him. He wanted to be like Thor, to help save everyone. It as just that no one believed him and fewer were willing to give him the chance. "Sure. I'm up for a bit of helping out. As you said, I've got a lot to make up for," He said cheerfully, not bothering to mention that he didn't remember any of his previous life and committing the evil deeds that others held him to. They'd just say he was lying, after all. It would no doubt be no different here. Actions spoke louder than words, they always said. He would have to make a good impression with both his words and what actions he took. Good thing I'm a quick thinker, He thought to himself, ready to start walking with Captain America, but still slightly wary of him.

Upon hearing Loki’s words, Steve thought for a moment. Then, in an act that might seem either strange or condescending. he lowered himself down to one knee. It wasn’t to talk to Loki like he was a child – even though technically he was; it was so Steve could look him right in the eye. It’s not an ability you could consider super, but when Steve Rogers looks a man in the eye, he can tell you if that man is worth his words. He spent a full minute looking the child-god in the eyes, a stern look of concentration on his face, before standing up.
“Alright Loki, I would appreciate the help,” he said as he started walking, signaling the juvenile god to follow along. “I’ll give you the details of the assignment I’m on now, and while we walk I will tell you what we've assumed to be the reason we’re all stranded here.” He started by explaining what he was currently doing in this part of New York.
“So I've been able to meet up with a few other heroes, and through them we've finally been able to get things like water and emergency services running. You can actually thank one of the Young Avengers for that. But anyway, no sooner do we get everything up and running than alerts start going off left and right. Mostly just people panicking over losing contact with the outside world, but some involving criminal activity.” He adjusted the jacket he’d been wearing to better hide that he had his shield with him. Admittedly, Steve had Thor’s sizing in mind when he bought this jacket just so he knew he’d have the extra bulk to work with. “Several calls came from this area all related to the same thing; men and women being mugged in broad daylight by some sort of street gang. Two things wrong with that. One, this neighborhood isn't exactly crime central. And two, some of those calls claimed they recognized people in the gang as friends or neighbors, but they gang member didn't even acknowledge them unless it was to get the money.”
As they walked, he continued to look for any signs of suspicious activity; people in large groups, people standing around watching others and not conversing, or even anyone trying too hard to avoid eye contact. “So I decided to take this one since this is more up my alley than it is Spider-Man’s. And you’ll actually be very helpful in several ways. You’re the god of suspicious behavior so I would assume you could spot it a mile away, and with your magic it would be very easy to stop them without hurting them.” Steve paused a moment before sharing his thoughts on the matter at hand, as if to think more on what he was about to say. “Something isn't right here. Law-abiding citizens don’t go from wondering what’s happening to organized gangs this quickly. I think they’re being forced into it by someone. And we’re going to find out for sure.”

The hero of America sank to his knees and the trickster watched Captain America as he looked into his eyes. When it came to it, Loki was a master at disguising his true intent. He had gotten the Tongue of the Serpent to blurt out his secrets with only words. He had gotten Hela and Mephisto to agree to a deal, after having the two nearly go to war in the first place. No one was ever going to beat him. This was the way that the child managed to stay alive. Quick thinking, acting and then a spot of running thrown in. It kept him healthy. Besides, he never really had the choice.
Finally it was the other who broke the silence and relief filled the boy who followed the hero without a word. "You're too trusting, it'll get you into trouble," Ikol said but Loki gave a little sigh and shook his head at the bird. As if he could trust what his evil self told him. It would be useful to know why he was stranded here. He only knew what Ikol had been able to tell him and that was not much. Infinity Gems. That was it. Still, it was better than nothing and probably more than most people knew anyway.
Listening to the problem that the hero had, the trickster nodded, seriously at this. Right. Gangs. Looking like loved ones. In a non crime neighborhood. Although to be fair, with all that was going on, it wasn't too surprising that some people would turn to crime. But organised... Hm. But organised. And why hadn't he been a target? He had gold around his head and was only a boy. Then again, he was good at keeping out of attention. Ikol had been helping him. Keeping an eye out and the likes. Plus he'd only been here for about an hour. Still, he pulled his hood up to hide his face. Best not to draw too much attention to himself. He pressed his lips together, thinking about the situation.
As they continued to walk, the hero still talking, Loki found that there were some things that were going to be a problem. Or just a few things he should iron out for trust reasons. Or both. "Right, well, I like to think of myself as the god that is so skilled that nothing is suspicious about me but sure, I should be able to spot anything amiss with ease," Now came for the trust part. Well, trust wasn't really part of his nature. "As for magic, this dimension has thrown it slightly out of kilter," He warned. It was a lie. He hadn't been able to use magic since he got Ikol who had stopped his magic. Indeed, he could hardly do anything. Everything had to be relearned.
As they paused, Loki listened to this and gave a small nod. Well, he supposed it was a good think that Captain America hadn't assumed that it was him that was behind these occurrences. "You know, if someone is mugging people, then I should be a prime target," The trickster said with a smile, taking off his golden circlet and lightly playing with it. Despite his casual appearance, he was ready to take action if someone did try to take his crown. Ikol watched the situation carefully and not believing how light the young god was being. Both knew that Loki would have some motive which lead him to help the hero - Loki never did anything simply to be good (or so people always thought - and most of the time correctly). But only Loki knew what it was and he wasn't going to share it with his magpie.

Something Loki said had sparked Steve’s interest. The barrier made by the Gauntlet was interfering with the small god’s magical abilities. And it did not escape his notice that the devious Asgardian had already caught on that they were locked in some kind of weird dimension. He’d have to remember that for the future. Steve was loathe to admit it, but someone of Loki’s caliber, even as a child, would be very helpful in getting everyone out of this in one piece. But for now, it was time to focus on one mission at a time.
“Even if you are an Asgardian, I don’t know how comfortable I feel letting a child put himself in harm’s way like that. No offense, but your brother is the fighter in the family, not you. Let me think on it while we walk,” he spoke as he dropped his pace a bit. “And I don’t know how much of this I can trust you with, but if Thor was willing to give you a chance, then you have a chance with me as well.”
It was a tough decision for Steve on whether or not to give Loki every detail, but in the end he thought it would be the best choice. At the least, it would add another mind to the group of those trying to find a solution; at the best, Loki would see honesty works and work together with Steve and the other Avengers to get out of here and stop Thanos. “Alright, Loki. As dumb as this sounds, I’m going to trust you with all the information that Spider-Man and I came up with about this ‘dimension’.
“I’ll spare you all of the details, but this began after myself and any Avenger I could muster tried to stop Thanos the Mad Titan from assembling the Infinity Gauntlet. Unfortunately we arrived too late. We tried to stop him from using it at least, but obviously that failed as well.” He let out a sigh, as Steve viewed this whole situation as a failure on his part to act quicker and plan better. “In fact, the last thing I saw before everything went white and I woke up here was your brother and Hulk making one last attempt to take him down. I made my way to Avengers Tower and after meeting with Spider-Man and running some tests on our computers we figured out a few things. The first, we’re all stuck here. Thanos used the Gauntlet to create a barrier that keeps everyone stuck in the city. We’ve also figured out that random people and heroes have been thrown in here seemingly at random; I can only presume that villains are lurking around as well. In addition to that, not all of us are from the same point in time and space. So you and I could very well be from different time periods or even different universes. If you find Thor, he could and up being completely different from the Thor you know. He could have a beard and swing around a hammer with an axe on it or something for all we know.”
Stopping as they came to an alley, Steve made a decision on this current incident he was working. “Alright Loki, here’s the plan. The god of mischief is going to find himself some. I’ll hop up on these rooftops and trail you while you act as mug-able as you possibly can. It should hopefully lure out some of these guys and we can use them to find out who’s running this show.”

It seemed that he had quiet a bit of luck here. First the archeress had been kind to him (admittedly because she knew a version of him) and Captain America was actually talking to him and seeming to care. If it wasn't for the fact that he had to get back to his own home (and to see Leah and Thor), he might consider staying here. Although it did seem that his kindness from the American hero came only because of the fact that he was a child and Thor's brother. It seemed that even across such a distance, his brother was still his main protection.
Still, for that kindness, Loki guessed he should give the hero some reward for his trust. It did seem to be a touch decision and to be fair, he did needed to distance himself from the misjudgments of those around him. "I'm not him, you know," The boy said softly, looking up at the hero. "I don't have any memories of what I was. All I know is that he... I... took such horribly evil actions that my name is likely to be stained for a good while. That I have a lot of past deeds to make up for, even if it does take an eternity," The trust thing went both ways, Loki knew. Thor trusted him, so Captain America trusted him. Thor trusted Captain America, so Loki allowed himself to have some trust in the hero. Plus by saying this he would hopefully be trusted even more which would offer him a good support if he didn't get Thor to help protect him any time soon.
Considering all that the Captain had told him about the situation, Loki took in the fact that Spider-Man was here as well. Right, so another hero. He also hadn't been mentioned with those other villains that would be lurking around, which was a positive. He had confirmation that the Infinity Gems had been used, like Ikol had said, and the Gauntlet and Thanos was involves, as he had suspected. And people were coming from different times and dimensions. All in all, he had been right. Of course, there was worry when he heard that his brother had last been seen going to fight Thanos and that was it. He frowned, wondering whether this Captain America came from his dimension or whether he came from a different time. Loki didn't remember having Thanos being a problem. It was the Serpent that they were last facing.
"Have you any knowledge of the Serpent?" He asked after a few seconds pause, considering whether he should ask this. But it would be useful to know if they had a common ground. Plus, if the man was from the future, then the Serpent didn't win. That his plans had worked. As dreadful as it had to be, at least it was better than the alternative. He wondered whether he really wanted to know the answer.
As Captain America gave the plan, Loki nodded. Right, he was the bait. That he could do, after all, he was rather used to such schemes and had suggested it. Placing the circlet back on his head and pulling the white hood down so the gold on his brow could glisten in the light. "Sounds good to me, Captain America," He said with a smile. As soon as the hero was on the rooftops he'd get Ikol to fly ahead and keep a lookout as well. It wasn't that he didn't trust the man but he knew better than most that it was better to be safer than sorry.

Steve was stopped from walking to the alley fire escape by Loki’s question about The Serpent. Spider-Man had done something similar in asking about a major crisis in Earth’s human history to gauge the point in time he was from, so it stood to reason Loki would do something similar. “The Serpent was an Asgardian enemy that tried to destroy Earth with the help of Red Skull’s daughter. He powered up several superhuman around the world, including Sin herself who proceeded to kill my best friend. But thanks to Iron Man and the dwarves from Asgard, we beat him.”
It hadn’t escaped Steve’s notice that Little Loki definitely had the younger brother mentality in this body and would want to know how Thor fared. Knowing that this was the person who has more than once tried to enslave the world made it a little weird, but he was supposed to be trying to do the right thing and no one could ever say that Captain America didn’t try to help everyone. Giving a smile, he said to Loki, “But if you’re wondering about your brother, don’t worry. He made it out just fine.” That was sort of the truth. Thor was fine, NOW. But the fight had ended in his death; Steve could not bring himself to tell a child that his brother died even if that child was two millennia old.
“Alright, now let’s get to work,” he said as he turned back towards the alley and began scaling the fire escape. Of course, this being Steve he didn’t simply climb up by way of the stairs. No, his physique and physical ability allowed for him to make his way to the top in a much faster and more athletic fashion; the youth of today called it ‘parkour’ but to Steve it was just the easiest way to get up. Jumping to the bottom platform, he quickly pulled his feet up and used the momentum to springboard himself to the next level. He continued like this until he reached the top of the building; once there he gave a salute to the young god before disappearing to observe from a distance and hopefully pick up the trail of this weird crime wave.

Past tense. For a few seconds, that was all that Loki could think about. Captain America was talking about the Serpent in the past tense. Past. The Serpent was... The boy let out a sigh of relief. Midgard was safe, his father hadn't destroyed the realm and the Serpent was defeated. His plan had worked. It hard worked. Relief was shattered as a sense of dread went through him. The Serpent was dead and Loki had been working to make sure that the prophecy would work. That Thor would kill the Serpent and then take nine steps. Because that was the best that they could hope for. The only way the Serpent would actually die.
The little god's head dropped slightly. He had known the cost when he set out and it seemed that he had paid it and saved more. It was what his brother would have done. He had checked. It was just a dreadful thing to know that he had lost his brother. Just then Captain America spoke again and Loki lifted his head, looking at the man with a slight cock of his head as he took in these words that conflicted with what he knew. It was a nice sentiment to think that the man cared enough to lie to him but Loki had been too involved. "There was a prophecy. That Thor would kill the Serpent and then take nine steps. It was the best outcome we could hope for," He said, clear green eyes looking up at the hero to see how the man would react. "It seems you must have found a loop hole," He added, allowing his voice to sound somewhat happier. They wouldn't have found a loop hole without him but it was worth pretending that they could have.
Watching the man quickly climb up the building, Loki waited for the signal from the hero before he started walking on and down the street, hood down and golden circlet shining on his forehead. "Ikol, look out for any danger as well. We've got to be extra cautious," He told the magpie under his breath. "I don't agree with this," he said. "We need the trust of the heroes," Loki replied, his tone final and Ikol rose higher into the hair, circling above the boy. Feeling safer, he continued, green eyes scanning around him as he moved, looking completely unaware of any danger and simply enjoying the day. He even started humming to keep up the appearance. With any luck this should make him a prime target.

Following the juvenile god, Steve kept his eyes sharp, using the height to survey as much of the neighborhood as he could see. There were many groups of people all down the street, but that did not surprise him. Ever since the incident that led to their imprisonment here, it was to be expected that people would be more likely to associate only with the friends and family that they trusted most. It wasn’t going to make searching for this gang any easier based on the descriptions of the assailants.
Based on the calls, Steve should be on the lookout for groups of men between young adult and middle age. As he followed from above, he began running through a list of suspects behind this. Purple Man, Shadow King, Enchantress, Red Skull now possessed the ability; and even though he was currently working with him, Loki’s ability to manipulate others means he can’t be left off the list. As much as Steve wanted to believe Thor, he had to consider every possible angle.
Soon enough, three main groups were isolated as the most likely to try something against Loki. One was a group of five roughly middle aged men meandering about outside a residence. Another consisted of four younger men, probably early twenties, looking around a tad more suspicious than they probably meant to. But Steve’s main suspected group was the larger group, roughly ten men, with the ages varying; some looked twenties and some looked thirties. He didn’t have binocular vision, but thanks to the serum coursing through his veins, Steve had amazing eyesight. And this group was doing a good job of making it look like they were having a conversation, save one flaw; while they certainly nailed hand gesturing and nodding, some of the members were looking around and not moving their mouths but still acting as though they were talking.
At this point Steve was really wishing he’d had some sort of radio to hook up to Loki so they could communicate, but he never even intended to be teaming up with anyone in the first place. He just hoped Loki was doing a good enough job of making himself look vulnerable.

Why do people always assume I'm lying?

Walking through the streets, the trickster remained calm and non suspecting as he moved along, keeping close to buildings of a similar height so Captain America could follow him with more ease. The boy wanted to be as considerate as possible, especially as the man was basically protecting his back. Green eyes looked around, the trickster as calm as ever. In the grand scale of things this wasn't the most dangerous thing that he had done. He had back up and those who he was trying to find only wanted to mug him. This wasn't lying to powerful lords of Hell. He wasn't too concerned about the whole affair. It helped with the guise of being completely at ease and thus a more easy target.
"Nothing yet," Ikol said, who had dived around after flying a couple of circles around his head. "Thanks, Ikol," He told the bird. "Anything I should be aware of?" His voice was soft and his lips barely moved as he spoke, so not to attract attention. After all, it would look like he was talking to himself if anyone noticed. As such, all his actions were small and to a point. "There are a couple groups to keep an eye on. There's a group of four younger men and then a larger group of ten. I would look out for the larger group. They're behaviour isn't normal. They are pretending to talk," Ikol said and Loki gave a small nod. "Good. Then go back to keeping a look out,"
Walking, he pretended to have to check his phone, using this as a chance to quickly look around with his own eyes to see what people there were. Very quickly he spotted the two groups which Ikol had told him about and he remembered where they were as he put his phone away and continued walking forwards, humming again. His plan was to walk close to the larger group but to make it look natural and to also keep some distance so he couldn't be grabbed by them and would be able to run if they made a move on him. And while he was taking his action, he was also careful to be aware of everyone else, Captain America and to keep an eye out for Ikol who was basically his early warning system. If Ikol came down and told him to run, the boy wouldn't wait a second. He would take a glance around to see where the danger was coming from and then he would be off.
Pretending to scratch his head to keep up the appearance of being unaware of any danger, the boy's eyes glanced towards the roof tops as he moved, trying to catch any sight of the American hero. He guessed that Ikol would warn him if Captain America stopped following him. Loki was aware that this whole situation depended on the hero being willing to protect a former enemy who had no doubt tried to kill him many times. Unease flickered in the boy's heart but he ignored it. Captain America was a hero. He protected the others. They even made sure the villains didn't die. At least in the movies. Loki had faith in them.

As Steve followed the child, he wasn’t surprised at how well the Loki acted. If he were just walking down the street himself, even he wouldn’t have noticed the diminutive deity as he blended in so well. He hoped it wasn’t too well that he avoided the attention of the gang they were hunting. In his own way, Loki was reminding Steve of Bucky during the War. Sure he was now much younger than buck had been, but Bucky had often played the decoy to lure out German patrols for him and Steve to take down to get locations of officers from.
Coming out of his reminiscing he noticed something odd. It seemed that two young men, whom Steve recognized as being from the large group, seemed to be casually walking the same path Loki was. Looking back at where the large group had been he found the spot empty. Dammit, how could they have dispersed so quickly? He could chide himself for not paying better attention later; right now he kept his focus on his godly sidekick and the two pursuers. He didn’t know how they would lure Loki to the location they planned to mug him. Most of the calls involved the victims being lured into back alleys by one or two assailants claiming to need help. But those were adult victims, and Loki was a child. They may just wait for the right moment and grab him.
Either way, Steve zipped up his jacket. He doubted he would need his shield for them even if they were armed, but he couldn’t have them being able to latch onto the coat so easily and throw him off balance. From his initial look at the group, none of them looked to be well-trained in any fighting style and Steve could make an assumption that they relied on numbers more than anything. Nevertheless, he kept his eyes peeled for any other followers Loki might gain and got ready to drop in every time the little god passed an alley.

He was lucky. The kid knew that. Not only did he have Ikol keeping his back guarded but also Captain America. And out of the two, he trusted the later more. Still, right now he could get updates from Ikol and not the hero. So he had to believe what the magpie had to say to him. "They've split up," Ikol informed him and Loki gave a nod. "Where are they?" He muttered to the bird which then circled over two men who had moved to walk along the same path as him but several metres in front of him. Ikol flew on ahead and circled over an alley and finally came back to the boy. "Some are also behind you. Those are the ones in the key positions," Ikol explained and Loki gave a simple nod, aware that he was now under surveillance. He had to be careful.
Moving forwards at a continuous pace, he was aware that the men before him were slowing down, forcing him to move slower as well and in pace with them. Unless he wanted to step out onto the road to overtake them. Which any sensible little boy wouldn't do, so Loki stayed in place, still humming to himself as he moved. So they were likely to take their action soon. Loki was on the alert. As was Ikol. He could tell that the bird was nervous about this whole situation. It wasn't something that Loki was likely to do. But Ikol was no longer Loki. It as Loki now. And he was going to be good, like his brother. He would prove to the world that Loki could be a good person. Starting with showing Captain America that his trust was well founded.
The men before him were slowing down now and they were getting nearer and nearer the alley. He and Ikol exchanged a look and Loki allowed himself a brief glance towards were he hoped Captain America was. "If this doesn't work..." Ikol muttered and the boy looked down at his own feet. "I know, Ikol. Now let us get on with this," He muttered to the bird. He'd never been that encouraging. Just then, the boy bumped into one of the men that had been walking before him and he noticed that the alley with it's occupants were. Time to act the part. "Sorry, excuse me," He said politely, trying to go around the men but instead being hemmed in and being pushed in towards the alley. It was at this time that he needed Captain America to turn up but he continued to play his part and move nervously into the alley, sensing no way out...
((Hope this is OK. Tell me if otherwise. ^^ ))
