DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY
Doctor Stephen Strange stands at his full height 6’2”, even more when he decides to levitate and roughly weights around 180 lbs. Despite being in his early 80s he looks to be in his forties as he ceased aging since he passed his test with Death. His hair still remain black accept some parts along the side of his head that are now white. His eyes have a light dull gray color to it. By physical appearance he doesn’t appear strong as he has a thin looking physique but they are quite wrong. He is mostly toned, by his years of practicing martial arts. He normally wears whatever he feels comfortable in or wants. The only thing that remains constant is the amulet around his neck that houses the Eye of Agamotto. Usually after a spell he can change his clothes to his traditional clothes is usually a light blue tunic with a white shirt underneath and light blue pants, with a yellow sash around his waist. His hands are always hidden away in gloves, as to hide the scarring of the surgery that was done on them. Resting on his shoulders is the cloak of levitation.
Stephen was once a hard headed, arrogant and egotistical neurosurgeon, but since the loss of use of his hands and his years of mystic training he certainly humbled him out. He knows his responsibilities as Sorcerer Supreme and takes them on as he should. He isn’t as hard headed or arrogant as he used to be, but some of it still remains in his actions. Criticizing himself as he sometimes replays events in his own mind or sees them for how he should have done things differently. On personal levels it takes him longer to realize his own emotional troubles. He takes failures to his duties and comrades especially hard as he leads them to question himself on his own abilities to do his job. He shows concern to those he considers to be good friends and sees some more then close allies, especially Wong, who he sees more as a brother than a friend or a servant.

HISTORY
Stephen was born in Philadelphia in 1930 to Eugene and Beverly Strange. The couple were vacationing there at the time and returned back to their farm in Nebraska after that. Two years later, his younger sister Donna was born. A few years after that his brother Victor followed. It was when Stephen was eleven, his sister got injured that he first developed an interest in medicine. Tragedy struck on his nineteenth birthday, while swimming with his sister, she suffer a cramp and drowned. He blames himself for unable to help his sister and hinder his idealism of medicine.
Stephen got his medical degree and a five year residency at New York Hospital. His rapid success made him arrogant and at the final year of his residency his mother passed away. He buried himself in his work, making it impersonal and growing his talents, making him a wealthy and celebrated neurosurgeon before he was thirty. He was becoming more egotistical and greedy as time went on, keeping all his patients at a distance. The only exception was an UN translator named Madeleine Revell, who he fell in love with. After their whirlwind romance, she left him not long after as he was because of his increasingly materialistic nature.
Two years after his mother's death, his father fell deathly ill. Not wanting to experience anymore tragedy and still crippled over his mother's death, though he would never admit it at the time, he refused to visit his father during his deathbed. His brother went over to his brother to confront him over his lack of grief over it all. After the argument, his brother rushed out the apartment and straight into the car where he got hit. Stephen placed his brother in cold storage after that, half hoping that future medical break through would be able to revive him.
It was 1963 and Stephen was driving over to see one of his patients that can still afford his care, when he went off road and rammed his car into a tree. His colleagues at the time were able to save his life, but his hands were another matter entirely. The nerves on his hands were severely damaged by the wreck that he wouldn't be able to continue on his surgical career. Too vain to accept a job as a consultant and accept the reality, he went to every rumor he heard of treatment, no matter how ineffective it was. The once wealthy Strange spent all his money and accumulated high debts and soon was out on the streets.
It was when he heard rumors of the mystical Ancient One that could heal his hands, that he pawned the last of his possessions and got a ticket over to the country. After climbing up the himalayas that he finally fount the Ancient One's palace. He encounter the man and requested him to heal his hands, when he said he can not and instead offered him to teach him the mystic arts, Strange refused. A blizzard set in and unable to leave, he was told about a room would be set up when the Ancient One was attacked. After dispelling the spell, Strange soon discovered the attacker was the Ancient One's apprentice Baron Mordo. After being discovered, Mordo casted a spell to restrain Strange from ever telling the Ancient One of what he discovered.
He went over to Ancient One, unable to warn him, he decided to study the mystic arts to help out and go against Mordo in his own field. The Ancient One pleased to hear this unselfish request, freed him from Mordo's spell and says that he already knew of Mordo's treachery. Strange spent years under his master's tutelage, learning to tap into the mystic powers of the world around him and within himself as well. He learned of the different powerful beings and the mystic realms that they reside in. His next test was with Death itself and managed to pass it. The rewards were given an ageless life and the ankh that would appear when his life was in dire jeopardy.
He trained and remained with the Ancient One for seven years and met many other fellow mystics and his best friend Wong during these times. After finishing he studies he would move back to New York, and set up the Sanctum Sanctorum as a mystic consultant. His beginning days he mostly kept his battles in secrets against foes such as Mordo and Nightmare. Though soon he would end up meeting and joining a few heroes along the way time by time and making good friends with some of them. Soon after Dormammu challenged Stephen to a duel in the Dark Deminsion, Dormammu's realm. When Stephen enter to accept the duel, he encounter Clea, but he continued to the duel. Stephen was easily outmatched by him, but the duel was enough to weaken Dormammu so that the barriers fell and the Mindless Ones to invade. To save the Dark denizens of the realm, Stephen gave Dormammu enough of his power to restore the barriers. Strange's actions spared his life and requested that Clea and Earth Realm to be spared as well.
When the Undying ones came to invade the Earth, Stephen went ahead and manipulated the aid of Namor and the Hulk. At first horrified at himself for his arrogant manipulation of them, that he almost forgo the mystic arts all together, but banded together with them to fight off the Nameless Ones and soon bonded a friendship with each other. When encountering the Silver Surfer they formed the core of what would be the Defenders.
Eventually Stephen came under attack by the servants of an Old One called Shuma-Gorath. The entity returned through the mind of his mentor, the Ancient One, and Stephen entered the mind of his mentor to confront him. Stephen was fighting a losing battle and the Ancient One, requested Stephen to slay him then let Shuma-Gorath passage into Earth. It was with a heavy heart that Strange slayed his mentor and afterwards he inherited the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme. Seeking solance from his new burdens, he would try to revive his brother using spells from the Book of the Vishanti. Still learning and taking in the new burdens he did not realize he was reading the Vampiric Verses, imbuing his brother the potential to ressurected as a vampire. Believing the spell failed, he left his brother's body in cold storage.
As the time passed he would eventually leave the defenders and return back to the Dark Deminsion to marry Clea. At the request of Charles to help out one of his X-men, he would encounter a former Sorcerer Supreme, Margali. He was taken back when she managed to summon the Eye of Agamotto from him and that proved the captured mutant innocent. He was left further curious of this sorceress. Throughout time he would join up with the other heroes to fight against great beings such as Thanos and the infinity gauntlet and Magus.
Sensing an abuse of magic by Wanda, he would appear before the Avengers. Angry that he wasn't informed of Wanda's state, that he was forced to use the Eye of Agamotto, to show a terrible memory that placed her in a catatonic state. Asked by Xavier to help, he went over to Genosha to help Wanda, but even with the combined efforts, he wasn't able to help to mend her shatter psyche. After the events of what is to be known as House of M and it's aftermath, he was very troubled as he claimed that his job was to prevent events such of it and he had failed completely.
Some time passed and a meeting of the Illuminati was called and heard the proposal of the Superhuman Registration Act. He called the actions it entailed disgusting and would mean going to people's fear and ignorance. He didn't see any good to come from it and told Iron Man and Mister Fantastic not to call upon him again, before departing. Though while Stephen had friends on both sides of the war, he went into seclusion in the Arctic, fasting and meditating nonstop for forty days. He told Utau to it as Sorcerer Supreme he could not take sides in the matter, as there was no clear right or wrong. All the praying and meditating for was an outcome that would benefit all mankind and spill the least amount of blood. He later regretted his lack of involvement, despite being given immunity to registering.
The next two meetings were changes as he agreed to banish the Hulk into space and fought against him when he return, by calling onto an entity called Zom. Stephen never used such dark magic before, almost killed civilians and stopped himself, before being beaten by the Hulk. The one after that, is when Iron Man called them and presented the skrull Electra corpse. After discussing the possibly of it Blackbolt was revealed to be one as well and attacked them. Strange managed to teleport the members away, where they went their separate ways afterwards.
On his return, he found that his Sanctum was taken over by the Hood and after the battle, he departed to a different plane to heal and reflect on his worthiness of his title. After a time, he would begin to seek out new canidents for the title, first going to Wiccan, but was attacked by Hood, who was acting as an agent of Durammu. It was when Brother Voodoo join that the Eye of Agamotto choose him and dispelled Durammu. Glad to see a new Sorcerer Supreme, and felt he redeemed himself slightly.
Afterwards he would join the avengers and remain with them til Daniel Drumm began possessing and attacking Stephen. He had to rely on black magic once again, and managed to keep control over it as he defeated and destoryed Daniel. Afterwards the Ancient One appeared before him and gave to him a restored Eye of Agamotto and the title of Sorcerer Supreme once again.
ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE
Stephen walks down the halls of the Sanctum as he spoke out loud "Wong, I'm going out for a bit." he says to his friend that resides in the place as well and leaves out into the streets. He dressed warmly as he had a long coat over his button up dress shirt that he kept tucked into his pants. He enjoys these peaceful moments, when the avengers aren't calling on him or other mystic forces are seeking to attack him, or an apprentice to guide. He opens the door to a nearby diner and grabs the local paper from the stand as he sits at a booth by the window and peers out into the hustle and bustle of the city.
He turned his head over as the waitress approached and smiles to her when she asked his order "Just a cup of tea will be nice for now." he says as he lays the paper open and looks it over while he waits. He didn't find any new interesting news when the waitress brought the tea over.
He gave her another smile "Thank you." he says as he picked up the tea bag string and begins to dip it as he closed his eyes. He figure to do a bit of minor sorcery to see how the day may play out. He left the paper open in front of him and hovered the tea bag over it and for a couple of seconds, before setting it aside and looked to the paper.
He sees five drips of covering the letters D-G-C-E-A in different words, it only took him a couple of seconds to decipher and speaks mostly to himself "Caged? Seems I'll be in some trouble." he sighs as he wonders what it could mean. He decided he'll meditate on this later.
That lapse to push it to the side didn't prepare him for what occurred next. He was paying for his bill when he sensed a strong magical energy. He quickly rushed out of the diner and looked to the sky as he sees the altered state as it appears over. He closes his eyes and concentrates on it and senses that a shift in dmensions. He opens his eyes and casts a quick spell to teleport himself home. He speaks loudly as he arrived into his main hall "Wong?!" he called out but no reply.
He figured he must of stepped out as he went to his library and stood over where the Orb of Agamotto. He places his hands gently on the orb as he peers through it, and power at work. His third eye opening as he gazes through and suddenly eyes go wide at what he sees "No! It can not be." the gauntlet was back together and Thanos was wielding it.
He looks to the wall as he speaks "In the name Oshtur, remove the veil." he moves his hands as he speaks "Show me the secrets that lie hidden, open the hidden door." he sees the fabric of this realm split and open the door to another dimension, where he hides the most dangerous object he knows, only to find it missing, but how?
