"Well, that's interesting." Norman spoke under his breath, watching the reporter on the LCD screen talk about New York being isolated from the rest of the world. Most of the television channels showed static and interference, but all the local station were up and running. They all talked about New York's newest tourist attraction. Apparently an invisible force field was in place around the state, though noone knew the exact limits of it. Military assaults on it proved ineffective, and thus far, there seemed to way to breach it. Noone was entering or exiting New York.
Norman picked up his mug of coffee, the aroma filling the small safehouse. It was a small room, but had all he needed - weapons and Green Goblin equipment were mounted on the walls, and a workstation sat in the corner, lit monitors arranged all around it. Luckily, Oscorp hadn't been raided after Norman's capture, though Norman hadn't expected it to be. After all, the company does good work at face value, their technology and research helping to progress science all over the world. SHIELD wouldn't risk eliminating that, even though they probably wanted to. Norman stood up and walked over to the workstation, each monitor having its own readings displayed. He had undetected lines into various information networks, and all opf them seemed to confirm that the 'invisible barrier' was indeed very real. Most places were blaming it on Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet, and some sources were even claiming that reality was warping, tearing dimensional holes in all universes. That must have been how Norman got out of SHIELD custody - which he was thankful for, since organizing prison breaks take so much time.
But being trapped in New York was not good for Norman - after all, he was a wanted man, and he couldn't access any of his foreign safehouses. SHIELD would no doubt be looking for him, and it was only a matter of time before they found him in such a small area. Luckily, Norman had multiple safehouses built in Oscorps underground, but it was still very risky. His mind raced, analyzing the next move he needed to make. He had to figure it out soon. Norman paced back and forth before looking into the nearby mirror, The Green Goblin staring back at him, its wrinkled face locked in a constant smile. "Norman, why are you hiding? You need to show the world who you really are!" The Goblin yelled out, the devious voice echoing in Norman's head. Norman stared at the mirror, his mind formulating a plan. "Yes...stop hiding..." He thought aloud, before smirking at his reflection. He realized he didn't need to hide - he needed to be out there, showing himself to the world. His attack on Asgard backfired, but surely that couldn't erase all the good he had done, eradicating the so-called 'heroes.' He could redeem himself in the public eye - and people love redemption stories. "I don't need to hide. I'm Norman Osborn, and I'll be damned if I let them get me down." His smirk evolved into a smile, his teeth baring. He downed his coffee before chucking the mug to the floor, the ceramic shattering into a multitude of pieces on the ground.. "And if anyone stands in my way, I'LL CRUSH THEM! HAHAHA!!" Norman let out a screeching laugh before marching to the workstation and picking up his secure line.
"First thing's first - I need a press conference." He needed to do it now - strike while the iron was hot. While people were threatened, in need for guidance, and panicked. Norman would give them guidance. He would reshape this New York into his own image - the image of The Green Goblin!
