DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY
Clint barton is a soldier; has been for as long as he can remember. body toned to it's physical peak, barton is an intimidating force. muscles rippling through his arms, clint let's his bow do most of talking. ok, that's a lie. don't let barton fool you: he's a sarcastic asshole when he wants to be and he loves to banter back and forth with others, especially stark. however, he knows when to be serious and when to get the job done. Despite being trained to be a master assassin, barton carries a lot of guilt; especially over what transpired in New york.
avoiding active duty for the past two years, barton has stayed off the radar in order to get his thoughts in order. guilt still rides him over the men he cut down and the actions he took under loki's control - particularly leading the attack on the helicarrier that cost agent phil coulson his life.
naturally an untrusting individual, it is no surprise that barton has secluded himself from the rest of his team over the past two years, only really keeping in contact with agent romanoff. it is his untrusting nature that makes him such an effective assassin for shield and such a valuable asset.
since the events of new york and director fury's allowing of the avengers to disband, barton has kept himself off the radar, working jobs here and there for whatever country he is currently holed up in to keep himself in practice.
barton is a master assassin at the top of his game and his body is physical proof; toned muscle through his arms, abs, and legs; body conditioned to perfection. barton keeps his blond hair cut short - not military short, but close enough to regulation that he looks clean cut. his piercing blue eyes see everything around him and make his aim deadly. his wardrobe consists of a mix of uniforms, combat gear, and sweat pants, the former two being comprised of deep purple and pitch black colors for ultimate stealth.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
while agent barton has no powers to speak of, he is a master marksman and assassin; one of sheild's best, in fact. His skills encompass marksmanship with virtually anything that can be used as a projectile weapon, acrobatics, combat, piloting, stealth and strategic skills.
archer/marksmanship: Barton is able to fire six arrows faster than the average human can fire six bullets. his dexterity and accuracy have no match thanks to his ritualistic practice in the field and in the training room.
acrobatics: Thanks to the excellent physical condition barton is in, combined with his own personal dexterity, endurance, and stamina, coupled with extensive training, barton is experienced in acrobatics and aerial maneuvers.
combat: trained in various forms of martial arts (exact forms are classified by shield), barton is an expert combatant who is able to bring romanoff to a stalemate on occasion (though he was notably bested while under loki's influence, something that was loki's fault, not his own, at the insistence of barton). He is able to flawlessly combine his combatant skills with his weaponry skills.
strategist: barton has been trained extensively in military tactics and strategies, making him very useful when coming up with a tactical plan. he has no issue leading a command when necessary, though prefers to defer to captain America.
piloting: trained by shield, barton has extensive training as a pilot, especially with shield-issued aircraft.
stealth: a master assassin, barton is no stranger to using stealthy tactics to navigate sticky situations. unlike most, he likes to take the high ground - literally - and climb through ducts, vents, and support beams when possible.

shortly after, barton was confronted by romanoff, who was able to disarm and render him unconscious, effectively releasing him from loki's control.

ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE
”Thank you for flying with us, Mr. Coulson.” The bulky archer nodded to the flight attendant with an amused smirk on his face. It was never smart to fly under his own name – too many people wanted Clint Barton dead – but flying under the name of his former handler, Agent Phil Coulson, would get the attention from SHIELD that Barton wanted.
He had been in Tijuana, Mexico for the past three months, Candahar before that, Moscow before that, and at some point in time over the past two years he had been in Antartica working a job for an extremist animal rights group who wanted some seal-clubbing jaggoffs taken out. Needless to say, Clint Barton had been bored during his half-mandated-half-self-inflicted ‘vacation’ from SHIELD.
Barton had tried to make contact with Natasha, but she and every other one of his contacts at SHIELD had failed to respond. He had been off the grid for so long it was likely his points of contact were out of date, but it was strange that he hadn’t been able to get in contact with Romanoff. They always were able to get into contact with each other. The arrow necklace he had sent her was a little reminder to the Russian assassin that he was still keeping some tabs, even from afar. However, those tabs trailed off the closer he made his way back to the states. Tijuana had become a siesta of sorts in preparation for returning to SHIELD full time. It had taken the full two years, but Clint had managed to work through the crap swirling through his mind and felt ready to come back to work.
Stepping into an obnoxiously yellow cab, Barton instructed the driver to take him to DC – the Triskelion to be exact. When the driver responded with a wary laugh, Clint just stared at him with an annoyed expression. “Where have you been, man? That Triskelion thing came down two weeks ago along with the entire agency. Everyone knows that.” Barton’s eyes went wide as he excused himself from the cab, suddenly becoming painfully aware of the five different agents currently watching him.
”The hell!? What, Coulson goes and no one else can bother to make an effort to keep Clint Barton in the loop?” He walked away from the cab at a calm pace, wincing at his own comment about oculson as he kept his duffel bag close to him. he rounded the corner into a nearby alley, taking off into a full sprint. He could hear the steady thumping of combat boots chasing after him as he lifted himself up the fire escape to his left, pulling out his bow from the duffel and nocking two arrows simultaneously, sinking into shadow.
Barton held his breath as he watched the men run past him, completely oblivious to his location. ”Hill always sad you Feebs were a joke…” Wrapping the duffel around his body tightly, Barton jumped from the top of the fire escape, preparing for the impact.
Instead of meeting cement, Barton landed in water – a bay, to be exact. How the solid ground in the middle of Washington DC had turned into the water between New York City and Staten Island, Clint Barton was unsure. What he was sure of was that he was soaking wet, SHIELD had gone under, and he was confused as hell. ”WHY DOES NO ONE TELL ME ANYTHING!?! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!?”
