DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY
The Ragin' Cajun known to the world as Gambit is one interesting son of a gun. On the surface, one sees a slick, suave, ^$#y thief who can use his southern charm to wiggle himself out of whatever trouble he finds himself in. To the ladies, Remy is notorious flirt, always chatting up the closest belle he can find. Despite his sneaky ways however, one finds that Remy is one the best people you can call a friend. He is fiercely loyal to mutant kind and a fierce believer in Charles Xavier's teachings.
Although he's been an x-man for years, you can't take the swamp outta the boy. Gambit is extremely happy when he's in his home town of New Orleans, LA. A couple of his likes include money, valuable objects, gambling, gumbo, and hitting on beautiful ladies. In terms of his dislikes, Remy isn't too fond of his father, Mr. SINISTER, The Friends of Humanity, and the numerous foes that the X-Men has encountered over the years.
Of course, calling Remy an "Angel" would be a bold face lie. While he has had a few romantic relationships in his life, Gambit is a serial cheater, unable to settle down with just one woman for an extended amount of time. The Ragin' Cajun is an extreme womanizer, and doesn't let something like another man hold him back from getting his way with the ladies. This nasty reputation makes gambit very unpopular amongst men. Although he has come a long way since his street rat days, old habits die hard. Gambit has been known to pickpocket a few individuals every once in a while, stealing a few wallets or JEWELRY here and there. As part of his mischievous spirit, Gambit takes pleasure in getting under people's skin, often seeing how many buttons he can press before it leads into a fight. With this in mind, Gambit can come off as extremely arrogant, often underestimating the full strength of his opponents.
At first glance, Remy Lebeau is an extremely attractive caucasian male with messy long brown hair, a faint stubble, and a ^$#y grin etched on his face. The most unique feature of Gambit's appearance is his abnormal eyes, an early trait of his mutant genes. The outsides of his eyes are pitch black while his irises are a bright red. They often glow whenever Gambit is about to activate his powers. When it comes to casual clothing, Remy is a firm believer of the Billy Gibbons philosophy in that "Every girl's crazy for a sharp dressed man". Remy is always dressed to party, whether its in a nice black suit with a silk purple dress shirt and black vest, or a pair of nice jeans, t-shirt and snake skin jacket, Gambit always tries to look sharp.
When out on the field however, Gambit prefers to wear extremely light body armor, accented with purple and black all over the suit. a piece of black head gear adorns his face, covering only the sides of his head, leaving his ears and hair sticking out. Gambit's trade mark with his costume is a brown duster with pockets storing his two signature items: a collapsible bo staff and several decks of playing cards. Gambit's main attire at the moment however, is his Serval industries uniform, which consists of a yellow and silver spandex with the logo firmly planted above his heart, light sunglasses and brown cropped leather jacket.

Enhanced Agility- Gambit's molecular acceleration grants him superHUman speed and dexterity
Static Interference- His molecular acceleration allows him to shield his mind from telepaths, though it doesn't prevent telepathic invasion
Hypnotic Charm- Gambit can charge the kinetic energy within a person's brain, allowing him to compel others to agree with anything he suggests. This does not work on more powerful minds
Marksman- In terms of handheld objects, Gambit is an expert marksman. Anything in his hands, such as playing cards or toothpicks, can be considered lethal weapons.
Hand to Hand Combat: While nowhere near Captain America's level, Gambit is an adept hand to hand combatant, mixing several fighting styles including savate, chinese kung fu, bojutsu and acrobatics
Weapons Master- Gambit is a master bo staff fighter.
Master Thief
HISTORY
Remy Etienne LeBeau, the X-Man known to the world as Gambit, did not have one what one call a wonderful childhood. Abandoned by his birth parents due to his abnormal black and red eyes (due to the belief amongst Cajuns that the eyes represent satanic origins), Remy was "adopted" (and by adopted, we mean that he was stolen), by Jean-Luc LeBeau, a member of the infamous New Orleans Thieves Guild. Like all the children growing up in the Thieves Guild, Remy was schooled in the ways of the guild. He learned how to pick-pocket, shoplift and do so in a stealthy way. Jean-Luc LeBeau was rather impressed with his adopted son and encouraged him to train harder. His guild training also included mastering the art of bo-staff fighting, which Remy proved to be quite natural with.
During his teenage years, Gambit’s mutant powers began to manifest themselves. He found that whenever he touched inorganic objects, he could charge them up and make them explode. He quickly embraced his powers, viewing them as an extra tool to use in his conquests as thief. He began to perfect his powers by using playing cards, earning him the nickname Gambit amongst the other thieves. Although his powers made his guild mates jealous, it also gained him a great deal with respect. With his newfound abilities, Gambit was certain to become the future leader of the Thieves Guild.
The Guild was at war with the rival Assassin's guild for centuries. Through an arranged marriage with the lead assassin's granddaughter Belladonna, the two guilds would be united. On day of their wedding, Remy was challenged to duel by his bride to be's brother Julien. Upon the closing of the duel, which saw Remy killing Julien in self-defense. The Thieves Guild banished him in order to ease the tensions.
Now on his own, Remy spent his life traveling the world as a professional thief, stealing whatever he could lay his eyes on. During this time, he found his power growing out of control. This is when Remy found himself in the company of Mr. Sinister, who removed some brain tissue in his head that helped Gambit control his powers. In return, Gambit served under Mr. Sinister, forming a group made up of Sinister's other henchman called the Marauders. However, Remy did not know was that his team's main focus, under Mr. Sinister, was to exterminate a group of mutants called the Morlocks due to the fact that someone created them using Sinister own genetic works. Horrified by what was happening, Gambit broke free and tried to stop the plans. Barely surviving the mutant massacre, Remy was able to rescue a Morlock child that would one day become the Morlock leader Marrow.
Years after the incident in the sewers, Remy met a de-aged Ororo Monroe, also known as Storm of the famed Mutant team the X-Men. After rescuing her from the psionic entity known as the Shadow King and embarking on several journeys with her, Gambit was surprised when Ororo lobbied for him to join the X-Men. Hoping to redeem himself for his actions under Mr. Sinister, Gambit agreed to join the X-Men.
Throughout his long career, Gambit has seen and done so many strange things. From watching the mutant race get depowered, becoming a horseman of apocalypse, becoming a staff member at the jean grey school for higher learning with Wolverine and waging an epic battle against the dark phoenix on utopia. More recently, after an argument with wolverine concerning his staff duties, Gambit left the x-men to join Harrison snow's company sponsored superhero team: the new X-Factor.
ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE
New Orleans, LA
A smug grin etched itself across Remy’s handsomely, bearded face as the X-Man strolled into Pat O’Brien’s with an unique swagger, his duster swaying behind him. Sunglasses adorned the Cajun’s face as he made his way to the bar, giving a brief two finger wave to the first woman that laid eyes on him. Remy wasn’t trying to mimic Scott Summers’ style at all by wearing his shades inside the bar. No, Remy was trying to hide his black and red eyes. He knew well enough that his eyes could in fact alarm some curious individuals. Truth be told, Remy wasn’t in the mood to get his hands dirty tonight. Tonight he just wanted to relax a bit, have as many beers as his body could handle, chat up the bartender and perhaps see if there were any money that the local suckers would be willing to give to him in a game of blackjack.
After spotting the bartender, a young lady with straight blonde hair, green eyes, and a body that could possibly make Emma Frost blush, Remy smiled as he plopped himself down. The young blonde walked up to him, a cute grin on her face.
“What can ah I get for ya honey?” She asked, a sweet Tennessean tone accented her words.
“How bout’ a bottle of dat Abita won’t ya cherre?” Remy replied, pulling down his shades slightly to give the girl a sneak peek of his eyes. He could have sworn he heard the young belle giggle as she pulled the bottle out of the cooler. Once the bottle was in his hands, Remy told her to keep his tab open until he said stop and started to drink. After a long sip, the Cajun rolled his stool around and started to observe the rest of the crowd. The night was lively with the sound of the piano player playing some old blues tunes, the smells of catfish frying in the pan and cheap cigarettes. While Remy loved his own little place in New York at the Xavier Institute and his apartment in NYC, he loved New Orleans. It was his home after all and he knew every little street and alley like the back of his hand.
Truth be told, he needed this little vacation. With all the craziness that had happened in the aftermath of the Avengers Vs X-Men incident, a night like this is what Gambit needed. He still couldn’t shake the image of Cyclops, crazy with power from being possessed by the Phoenix force, striking down Professor Xavier from his head. Remy took another quick swig of his beer as the events replayed over and over again in his head.
Things were different now though. He wasn't gambit the x-man anymore. No, he was gambit, serval industries' resident lady killer and master thief. He had been given another shot at life so to say. But still, it felt good to get out of the hq and away from that arrogant silver-haired prick for a few weeks.
A sudden yell snapped the man out of his thoughts, causing him to jerk his head upwards. A rather large man with a long black beard dressed in blue jeans and a biker jacket was hollering at one of the employees, a girl with elf like ears. A mutant no doubt. From what Remy could make out, the girl had gotten the man’s order wrong and was now dealing with her folly. Tears filled her eyes as the man cursed at her, calling her disgusting names that made the Cajun’s blood boil with rage.
Unable to take this abuse anymore, Remy got up from his spot, leaving his beer on the counter, and began to walk over to the man. “Now, now mon ami,” Remy began, resting his hands on the same table the man was leaning on. “What seems to be da problem here?”
“This freak got my meal all wrong!” The bearded man yelled, his face as a red as fresh tomatoes. “Stupid mutants! Always messing up everything! This is used to be my favorite bar until they started hiring them!” He glared down at the girl, who was sobbing into her hands. He spat down at her feet, causing Remy to reach out and grab his arm.
“Dat’s no way to treat a lady.” He glared, his eyes sparking under his sunglasses.
The drunk man quickly tried to pull away, but Remy only gripped his arm tighter.
“Let go of me a*(^(*%e before I mess you up real good!” He said, his hand resting on the table.
Remy then reached up and grabbed the man by his shoulder, his eyes looking towards the nearest window. "How's bout we take dis outside non?" He said as he suddenly tossed the man through the window and into the restaurant’s outer courtyard. Remy followed quickly, jumping through the window as the man slowly climbed to his feet. With a growl, the man lunged at Remy, attempting to slug him across his cheek. Remy ducked down to avoid the strike, only to deliver an quick jab to the man's gut. The man hunched over in pain, just as Remy was able to grab him and throw him to the ground. The man climbed to his feet and tried to strike again, only for Remy to lunge kick him in the gut again. Before the man could climb to his feet again, Remy had reached into his coat pocket and pulled out three playing cards. Each card was glowing a dark purple, with what looked to be fire around them. Remy lowered his sunglasses to reveal his glowing eyes.
The man’s eyes widened as he starred into the cards, the purple glare hypnotizing him. Remy narrowed his eyes as he clinched his cards tighter.
"Leave. Now." He said slowly, making his card charge up again. His scare tactic worked, as the man quickly darted out the alley, screaming in terror.
Once the man was gone, Remy powered down his cards and turned to walk back into the restaurant. His eyes turned back to the young girl, who was standing in the corner in awe at what just happened. “You alright petite?” He asked as he continued to walk. The girl nodded quickly, wiping her tears away as a warm smile appeared. Returning to his spot at the bar, Remy grabbed the beer, downed it one gulp and pulled out a 50 dollar bill from his jacket pocket. He placed it in front of the shocked bartender. Remy grinned as he reached up to blow her a kiss with his index and middle finger.
“Keep da change chere.” He said as he strolled out of the restaurant.
As remy exited the restaurant, a cool breeze blew passed him, causing him to tug his coat a little tighter. That's strange, the cajun thought as he walked down bourbon street.
Or he would have been, if a taxi hadn't slammed on the brakes and blew his horn at him.
red eyes widened as the man began to shout at him. did he just wander out into the street? he didn't even drink that much in the bar.
And then he scanned his surroundings, only to have his jaw drop to the floor in shock and awe.
What the hell was he doing in time's square?
