TRIED TO HAVE AN OPEN SETTING FOR OUR FIRST POSTS
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
‘Too quiet’ had never had such an impression on Danny as it did out on the tarmac, only wind whistling across the dead zone of this international transportation mecha. Six terminals with a staggering 151 gates once serviced over 50 million people in a single year. Flights left daily for destinations across no only the states, but for nearly every continent on the planet, and almost every country with a large enough recipient run way. Security beyond any bank, and enough checks and procedures to put a penitentiary to shame. Manmade marvels that lifted not only tons of steel and electronics into the upper atmosphere, but also hundreds upon thousands of human lives daily. The roaring of jet engines could deafen anyone close enough, with planes running 24/7 and terminals filled with business men and vacationers it was a true never sleeping entity. Or at least, it hadn’t been.
Now, out among the dust gathering 747 and air buses, there was a silence that sent shivers up even Danny’s spine. Which was saying something for the hardened martial arts master. Even at his age there was little that got under his skin, but this was something so unnatural and daunting that it pushed his heart into a flutter. Like steel dragons, the planes lay dormant and cold, grounded for who knew how long. Useless in the ‘new world’ of this captured New York.
He was not the only one it seemed, to find themselves drawn to the transportation center even though the hopes of a flight were less likely than the lottery. People littered the area in tents, and slept in the terminals for shelter. There was no need to ask any of them though why they had come to this place, with so many options in the vast city the airports were simply the fastest and largest locations to be when they were ‘freed’. You could see it in the eyes of those curled up by the boarding gates, a desperate hope that soon the roar would come back and those lucky few who waited it out here would be first to leave ‘hell’ in hopes of meeting up with family beyond the barrier.
Broken families sat scattered over the floors and seats, some entertaining children as they longed to see their spouses and parents. What was once a place of common complaint on when there flight would arrive had become a land of false worship?. Empty souls stared at flickering departure monitors like star gazers, hoping that some god would take away the canceled signs for now boarding. Great masses locked in prayer by the ticket booths, in hopes of seeing any airline attendant in uniform pop up with a forced smile and offer them the latest deal on a faraway destination.
As he had passed through them, with less faith and no expectations, he felt fortunate not to be so easily drawn in to the depths of despair. The darkness gripping he hearts of everyone here was not only a sad sight, but one he knew all too well as a nightmare waiting to happen. People here were stretched thin, and sanity was fragile. All it would take is a spark, and the powder keg of broken dreams and false hope could erupt into an inferno of raw anger and violence. What was left un broken would be shattered, and many here were with small families. In enclosed terminals there would be casualties and those weakest would go first.
Back in the city, people found a natural flow and similarity to everyday life, but here were those who didn’t want to feel comfort. These were the select few whose mind warped enough that hope was caustic and it slowly corroded them. One of those cases where the idea of something good, was digging a hole into darkness. For the sake of the innocent, he hoped there was enough of those, like him, who was willing to stake the halls and be there to break things up when others broke down. Even the strength of an iron fist would not be nearly enough to stop the spread of chaos when it chose to rear up and burn this place to the ground.
Danny had ventured out here, out to the runways and the emptiness of the airplane bone yard to try and clear his mind from the conflicts of energy inside the terminals. It was no meditation, but it helped to be in the silence. Tired eyes looked to his wrist, green spandex ending at just below his elbow kept the chill off, and below it sat his communicator. There was no point in wearing it now, the signals didn’t work here and reaching down he took it away from his skin for the first time in nearly 2 years. This was his airplane, his hope, and after walking the halls of this place it had to go. Wearing this would not bring him home, nor would it bring his friends to him. He missed his team, his friends, but holding out for them was no different than those waiting for their own tickets home. “I will return to you…powerman..spidey..white tiger..Nova..I promise” his tone was calm, collected but still sullen. He would have to have left them someday, but he had wanted it to be on his own terms. Now, he had to survive here long enough to get back, if that were even possible. For security, and at some level ceremony, his fist lit up in a brilliant golden glow as he crushed the device and let the wind wisp away the pieces. Fury and Coulson would not have been too proud if he just abandoned the tech in one piece, and this felt a little better emotionally as well. “Until then my friends, I must not let my dreams blind me..We will be a team again when fate allows it.” With that he became a ‘free agent’ belonging to no one but himself and his powers. It was a daunting path, but Daniel had always been ready to walk it. There were lessons to be learned as part of a team, but he was more than capable of holding his own.
As the molten glow dissipated and his hand shaken clear of the last few pieces of S.H.I.E.L.D. tech, he looked up and headed for the 8th and final terminal to complete a full assessment of the site, unknowingly stepping ever closer to what could potentially be the opportunity for a whole new team experience.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes
Kate actually liked airports. She liked flying. It was strange for people to hear but she really did. She liked to watch the world from above, she remembered coming into land and being able to see her own house. Airports were busy places, you got to see the best and worst of humanity in these buildings, goodbye and hello kisses, tears and joy. It was all played out within these walls. Now it was very different, it was silent. There was no one here. The planes couldn't fly, the barrier put an end to international travel. It was amazing what humans were capable of these days and it wasn't until you lost it all that you realised that. They could travel to the other side of the world in less than a day, you could go to the otherside of their rocky space ship spinning around a ball of burning gasses without ever having to take a nap. Their world had information at the touch of a button, all the information humanity ever had stored in 1s and 0s down the airwaves. Now they were here with none of it just living in the shadow of the moon again.
There was something slightly terrifying about all of that. It hadn't shocked her that people were camping out at the airport. These were the tourists that had been in the city, the ones that didn't have anywhere to go, who didn't live here and just wanted to go back to their families. People stuck in deep end dives watching monitors and trying to pray their way out of the situation. Kate wanted to shake half of them, tell them hey were going to have to learn to dance in a world where there was no tomorrow but what good would that have done. They were dreaming about breaking out of this machine, dousing it in gasoline and watching it burn. Let it burn, tomorrow was another day after all.
Out here there wasn't much to stem her racing thoughts, she needed to stop and recover, stop boxing with her own shadow but it wasn't like Kate would do that, she was out trying to work while dragging a lake, running on borrowed time and a loss of inspiration. That was the thing, Kate had been running for as long as she could remember and the world had taken it's shots and she had been broken plenty of times before. Passed through wrong hands and wrong times. It had never felt as bad as this. Kate wasn't going to waste the shots that she had left on redemption, there was nothing she could do for her friends that were still missing, for Clint...maybe they were back in their world looking for her. Maybe they were worried. Maybe they hadn't noticed. Kate just wished she could let them go, every time she got her hopes up and they were broken a little piece of her got snapped off and she was starting to think another one would mean there was nothing left at all.
She sniffed, Kate could have sworn she was catching the cold. She had hit the ground running when she had arrived and it hadn't stopped. Kate couldn't remember the last time she had slept properly, she had fallen asleep on her couch with the TV on because trying to turn off in the silence just didn't happen. Too many wondering thoughts up and down dragging out the day into this unholy blur of mid morning chat shows and people spouting conspiracies on the TV channels that had got back up working. Kate felt broken, her joints hurt, she was beyond tired...and the worlds sound track was a broken record skipping over the same part over and over again. The city couldn't continue like this forever and she knew that so well, they needed a more forgiving song. Kate couldn't work out how to make that happen.
As she wondered, made assessments on what needed to be done....you ran into some of the strangest people. Kate was a little puzzled. Looked like Iron Fist...was way too short to be Iron Fist. For a moment she just watched him, raised an eyebrow and drew in a sharp breath through her teeth. Looked like she was going to have to explain to someone else what was going on. Kate was getting sick of being the hero welcoming party, it had been alright till it was Clint that had landed in town. “Hey...” wow fucking smart start to the conversation, she was about as dooftastic as Barton these days. “There's a good chance that your friends are already here just....not the ones you know. The muliverse has collided...throwing all the worlds together....I'm guessing your not from mine because Iron Fist isn't a ten year old kid in my verse....” That sounded way more rude than she was expecting. “Fate fell short this time.”
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

BLOSSOMING FRIENDSHIP
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
She surprised him, which was a feet in and of itself surprising. Normally he could tell when in the presence of another, and out on the tarmac there was no reason not to have noticed her. It was just them, two people out in the dwindling day light, how had he not sensed her. As her words caught his ears though he could hear the whirlpool of emotions, and being unable to identify her reasons for being meant it was best to act with caution. With only the shifting of his leg muscles he dug the toes of his right foot into the ground pushing him with reasonable speed around on his heal to face her. Immediately his hands flew up, one held back to balance and the other forward to defend. Bent knees kept him at his center and a life time of training had every sense heightened and not a fault in his stance.
Just as quickly as he had turned to face the owner of the awkward ‘hey’, he found his body relaxing as he was met with an attempt at a kind face. He had never known Kate in his world, but then again he had not known Pietro either. From what he had learnt from Peter and Pietro it didn’t matter if someone was visually a stranger to you, they may just happen to know more about you then you know of yourself. From the casual manner in which he was greeted, and the lack of offensive gestures it was safe to assume that this confident dark haired archer was not out to put an arrow in him tonight. It was also quite possible that she too knew a ‘him’ from another place and time, even this one. Dropping his arms he pulled himself up from the slightly crouched position, his right foot dragging softly over the ground as he fixed his posture to a more relaxed stand.
Before the greeting could be properly returned, Kate went into explanation mode. Politely he listened even if some of the information was repetitive. Obviously she had to do this often, and it also hinted to the young woman having figured out he was not of her universe, and even more importantly that she knew who he was. For the short duration of her speech he took the time to assess a few more key details. It seemed his only ‘weapon’ in a world where so many knew of him, and he could not return the courtesy. Quickly he glanced her frame and posture, the way one composed themselves was more than words could ever say, and far more honest to boot. She was strong and not new to combat, the way she stood showed some level of relaxation and familiarity around him, but enough distrust that she could easily go from chatty to notched arrow in seconds. Tense muscles were not all defensive, and a slight hitch in her breath meant she was not in peak condition, either sick or tired. A seemingly common affect this city was having on its heroes. He felt a small wave of relieve knowing he was not the only one a bit off his game.
It was not the most all inclusive break down ever, but it gave him something to start with as her explanation came to an end. Her finishing statements not all too positive, inspiring, or even kindly. There was disparity there, and something told him this was not the first time she had to face some one she knew when they were in turn not who she wanted them to be. A weak soul would take offense and lash out, and part of him seemed to feel that she wanted that. Danny, was not one to jump to such conclusions, nor was he out to pick a fight over what could be unintentional jibes. So, to start things off he kept it quick and polite. “Thank you” nothing big, he just wanted to show he appreciated the effort to explain their shared situation. No need to alert her to him already knowing, or try down play the importance of her attempt. Next, it was time to address the final comment and in turn attempt to sooth the background hostility of the situation. “Fate, however, is not here to cater to our requests. Fate knows what is best for us when we are too blind to see the path.” He explained in simplistic and relaxed tone. Now, it was time for the step that so few seemed to leave till last, when it felt even more important in this world than most. Reaching out a hand he offered her a tender smile and in a friendly tone requested what he felt was the most valuable information for the moment “I am indeed Iron Fist, though I am well into my teens. If I were to take a guess you are…some branch of Hawkeye?”. I was not a wild guess, the color scheme and quiver were pretty trade mark, but he avenger he knew was not a woman, nor as young as she looked. Though it was obvious by his own situation that age had nothing to do with identification in this messed up city.
“I take it you have been here a while?” Daniel asked to keep the conversation moving. Having an ally that was experienced here was an asset to keep that is if she was into the whole team/ally idea. His first instinct was to suspect she was a bit more of a free agent. After all she was out here by herself. Then again what if she had faced the same separation that he had? Was here a team she too was missing, and perhaps was not a composed as he had chosen to be? So many questions were popping up and it really was not the place nor time to be asking them. As the sun was setting he had a sick feeling that things would not remain so stable here, and his gut wasn’t often wrong.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes There was no such thing as Fate. There was no god. There never had been. There was no parental figure in the sky or force guiding your life. At least that was how Kate saw it. How could there be with the world they lived in? The sad truth was they were all in it together, there was no point blaiming their failings on imaginary beasts and fighting over land that long lost fathers had promised them while finger pointing at phantoms up above was a waste. There was no heaven and no hell. As far as Kate saw it they had once chance to make it work and the sooner the world accepted that the better it would be. Yes she was scared of dying and she knew that everyone else was too but pretending that it wasn’t going to happen did nothing good, Kate honestly believed that if everyone accepted there was an end game that right now they could do things right, they could believe in all the wondrous things mere mortals could do.
Kate kinda liked the idea that was all there was, that when she was dead her soul would be lost and the mortal remains that carried her would decay and creep into the ground, into the water, and she would seep into the barrow in the bones of the creatures here and she would be remembered in their atoms. She would spread through the streams and rivers like a virus through a host, from there into the ocean to the rest of the world though the waters motions and she would be apart of every land mass every sea, in the rain and the crops they eat. Nature had so much more meaning and beauty than could ever be invented by ideals like Fate.
She was firmly unconvinced of the existence of things that did not exist concocted by boy was with big ideals, stories of a loving but vengeful god trying to wash his hands in the mire of men or fate painting ever turning circles in the sky like a dream catcher distracting from the fact that you were going to die. She much preferred to think of it as the atoms that made up the wrinkles in the back of her hand were once forged upon the stars.
“Well. You know. Fate and I don't exactly see eye to eye” for the better? Kate almost felt angry about that comment. She didn't seem to think that at all. Didn't matter though it was distracting from the issue at hand which was the city in chaos. She pushed aside her own personal feelings for a moment. She had to have some level of professionalism here otherwise it was just wrong of her. Still she couldn't help but be angry at fate. Look at all these people up rooted from their happy tangled lives. It wasn't fair.
At least he wasn't wrong, Kate nodded her head, “my names Hawkeye.” She confirmed with a nod of her head as she sat the bottom tip of her black bow on her foot. The recurve bow can right up to her eyes, almost as big as she was but that was a proper bow for you. None of this compound crap. Kate prided herself on being a recurve archer. “I've been here since the start, a week or so...” Kate explained, she sounded tired, exhausted. What she needed was a day off but there was so such thing when the world was constantly an hour away from falling apart. “It's not so bad. The city is pretty much running as normal just there's no phones really, there's no internet, there's no banking really but you know....it's no so bad.”
“Still there is only so long we'll have calm when people start to get pissed off about being seperated from their families for this long...and we can't have people living in airports. They're not going to get home. Least not for a while.”
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

BEST NEVER TO TELL A LADY SHE BAGS UNDER HER EYES
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
Danny could tell he hit a sour note with the topic of fate. Not only could he see it in how her body tensed, but he could hear it in the acidic undertones of her response. Perhaps it was a subject best dropped, no need to push people in this city without do cause. Making an enemy was never a good idea, and in a place like New York, it could someday mean a death sentence. It was however a bit disheartening to see this young woman who saw life in such a way that none of it was positively guided. He could not say it for sure just yet, but Daniel was getting the feeling that there was darkness in the archer before him. Perhaps not a villainous one, but something ate away at her ‘soul’ and he had seen many with that signature fail to free themselves and drop into the abyss. Without another thought, the subject was dropped from his mind and his focus rounded on who this woman was and if she was on his side, or back by different motivators. He was not here to play the emotional doctor, he was here to assess this area and possibly find ally’s in arms. Unstable psyches could be dealt with at a later date. Besides if one wanted to get into mental stability concerns, then there was an entire decade worth of therapy cases in the Avengers alone. Maybe that was just part of the job?
As Kate composed herself and came forward with her identity, Danny rose his eyes to hers and showed perfect attention to the answer. “Hawkeye..” he repeated not only to confirm but also to train his own mind to associate her with the name. The title though brought up a few more questions that he would save for a later date. Starting with something along the lines of ‘Hawkeye’s replacement?’ or ‘Just another Hawkeye?’. An answer to the second would on beg the next questions, just how many purple archers were there. In his world he only knew of the one, but it’s not like he went out of his way to count. Not when he had a whole team with their own issues to worry about. Continuing on he had to add to his confirmation statement. As a ‘Hawkeye’ did that automatically mean she was aligned similarly. “..As in the Avengers Hawkeye?” it was an honest question, and knowing who she fought with might help him better understand her skill level and ‘rank’ within a specific group.
The next subject to be addressed was one he was glad to hear her answer as she had. Being here from so early on meant she was another resident who had some knowledge of the ‘situation’. “From the start. I suppose that puts you at an informational advantage. Do you know Spiderman and Pietro then?” he inquired curiously. He was sure the two had mentioned being here from a similar time, and getting different views of the same situation made for a more complete picture. The statement was more than just an idle question though, from her answer he would be able to gather her views on the two hero’s as well as confirmation on her alliance in this particular New York. A direct question from before was easy to lie through, but one such as this was open to vocal flaws or other subtle cues that she was not who she said she was, or at least hostile to others on the ‘good’ side.
Once more information began to spill Danny nodded slowly with the explanation of the cities resources and current functional state. She said that it was running close to ‘normal’ but he could hear it in her exhausted tone that there was no faith in that holding up much longer. This thought confirmed by her next string of thoughts. Once she seemed done with the break down he took a moment to ponder over what had been said before raising a finger. “It’s true that there is a breaking point, and soon I am sure we will be faced with societal corrosion and disintegration, but I don’t think it will be as catastrophic an even if there is a sharing of information.” It was in his nature to seek the least hostile frame of mind, and focus on passive manners to sort through issues. Not everything could be solved with a voice, he knew this well. Yet, part of being a living weapon did not mean that only his fists were part of that arsenal. “Is the city capable of mass broadcasts? Is there still a mayor or public figure here that could speak out and explain the situation?” Danny knew that Kate may not have any direct answer to give him, but at least she may know what direction to point him in. “While there is nothing wrong with living at an airport, they need to know that there is good reason to take up permanent residence.” As he spoke his body turned back to look at the assorted terminals a hand risen to his chin as he waited for Kate to weigh in. It was very possible she had her own strong opinions. Ones that could agree with his own, or greatly contrast them. This was the point of conversation though, even he didn’t have the answers to the world. Debate helped to find holes in individual thoughts and create a stronger initiative. He would value her ideas, and unless she turned him away then maybe this could be the start of a solution.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes
People looked at her. They gave her that look. They had no idea who she was and Kate found it a little disconcerting. She was so used to Hawkeye and Hawkeye. Hawkeye Squared. Hawkeye and Hawkette. They were a team and people had got to the point where they saw one without the other and considered the possibility that one of them was hurt and dead somewhere. They were joined at the hip, in each others troubles and ups and downs as they were their own. Hell she'd even slept in his bed, not like that but on the nights where she couldn't get home, where they had worked a job he let her crash and let her have his bed. One night when the snow had been raging outside and his apartment had been freezing, she'd been hurt he laid down beside her and pushed the hair out of her eyes. He told her it was alright, that she had done great, that the bullet in her leg really didn't mean that she had screwed up and there had been worry painted across his eyes...Kate missed him. She was his ward. That was the word he had used; ward, student, charge...he was the family that she didn't have any more, Kate was a child he was never going to have.
That was the thing, it was so much deeper than people thought, she could finish his sentences, she dealt with his carcrash emotionally unstable life and he bailed her out of trouble. He was the person that believed in her. He'd taken this sixteen year old little kid constantly being told by the Avengers that she was too young, that she wasn't good enough to be out fighting and did the exact opposite. He took her under her wing, she had his name. They were one in the same. “One of them....the other Hawkeye he's....he's kinda like my mentor. He was kinda...dead....when I took up the bow and then it turned out he wasn't dead and you know everything from then on is just kinda....well a clusterfuck to be honest.” That was pretty much the story.
When was Clint not in trouble and his life carcrashing anyway?
“And yes I am an Avenger....I'm also leader of the Young Avengers....have been for years but I guess I'm kinda not so young anymore you know but....I can't seem to get a promotion lately.” Mostly because no one thought anyone else capable enough of leading the team. Which was fair enough Kate wouldn't have trusted half the new kids with it either. Truth was she didn't have that much information, none of them did. “You've got all the same information I have now...we don't really understand what is going on.” It felt bad saying that, like she should have more answers about this. “The only thing we know is it has to do with Thanos and the Infinity Stones other than that it's well...anything. Could be anything.” Kate shrugged her shoulders and threw her hands up in a frustrated manner.
It upset and annoyed her that she didn't know what was going on.
It turned their attention to the city, to the people, she frowned for a moment before smiling sadly. How did you break the hopes of people? She remembered sitting at the top of Avengers Tower before all of this had happened, she'd been at a staff meeting with the rest of the Avengers and she could see her house, she could see the lights of the city, she could see the rest of her life from that tower. You could see the people below running around, living out their lives like there was nothing to bother them. After all the had the Avengers, they were watching over them. “Some of the TV stations are running on skeleton crews and programming but we've managed to speak to the public, we're trying to keep as high a profile as possible with the Avengers to reassure.” They were only chemical and skin strapped in for an air conditioned drive though life. That was all it was really. Everything they had were simple chain reactions of chemicals tired of waiting and yet content with still waiting in line. Kate watched them run around the city in no hurry to figure everything out, now what was this place? A boat run around running out of water. It made her heart hurt a little thinking of it like that.
“What do we say to them? That you're not going home, most of them were here on holiday they cant get home, cut off from their families and homes...how do you explain that to them?” It was a delicate and yet horrible thought, and them being at the airport wasn't going to be helping but most of them had nowhere else to go. “We've got a potential social disaster on our hands here, we don't have housing for them, we have a refugee camp on the runway of JFK airport...” That put it in context for her. This was New York City for crying out loud. “What would you say to them?”
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

SOO..BIT LONG BUT GOOOO TEAM!
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
The explanation was useful, but at the same time really contradicted what he knew of Hawkeye the first. From what he remembered his Spider Man rambling on about, the Clint Barton of his universe did not really seem the type to take kindly to being replaced. He especially didn’t get the feeling that the violet archer was interested in an understudy of the youth variety. In fact the idea of any of the Avengers having a ‘kid’ in their midst was mainly the whole reason his little group had been formed under Fury’s command. Danny had often wondered himself why it was Nick and Coulson that had taken them under wing as a team and as heroes when it would have been far more beneficial to learn under the super powered heroes themselves. Not that he was complaining, but Nick didn’t really seem the type to enjoy ‘babysitting’ either. True they were a valuable asset to the government secret agency, but instead of training for a higher calling, they all were being trained to be an efficient team for what he felt was SHEILDS own ‘controlled’ avenger initiative.
They had connections to the big time heroes though, and from what this worlds Peter had told him, there was most certainly room for them to take up a higher mantle. Still, some part of him felt that few of those he trained with in his own world were ever meant to take up that title. So, as Kate continued to explain her own situation he made not that even in her world it sounded hard to graduate from Kid to Avenger. One promising not though, was this ‘Young’ Avengers group that she headed. If this was anything like he and his own team, maybe it could be a place to belong until things were sorted out.
“I see, thank you.” It was all he had to offer as she finished filling him in on everything that she knew, as little as it really was the information was still valuable. Not just hearing her side of it, or pulling what small morsels of extra knowledge he could from her own retelling, but also to gain an understanding of her feelings on the situation. There was a bitter edge to how she went over her explanation. Something of her life at ‘home’ was calling to her, and he felt it in her words that she wanted to get back. Perhaps it was her mentor? Maybe other family and friends? Whichever the cause there was a distance she was putting between herself and him. There was no sense that anything was sugar coated or that she was reaching out for help to find a way back. It was just frustration, and an anger that she seemed to want to bare alone. Markers that much like those lost here in the dreams of getting free, she was losing a fight to have faith that there was a ‘freedom’ to look forward to. No doubt she would fight to her last breath, but her level of trust in others already seemed to be eroding away with each explanation of their peril. Something in him was compelled to help relieve that stress. Even the strongest leaders sometimes needed someone to lean on. He would just have to work hard to be seen in her eyes as that soul that could be counted on until she made it back to whomever was capturing her thoughts now.
Many of questions rose up from her words. This team, the Young Avengers, could use a bit more explanation, and maybe she knew a bit more on just who Thanos was. All good information to elaborate on, but none of them as important as the most pressing matter. The people of the city, and those who camped out here under the ideals that soon they would be home to be with their families. Kate explained that they had the bare minimum of methods to contact the public. Announcements must have been made but he doubted there were many places in this dark air traffic center that would have gotten such a weak signal. It was no wonder people still seemed to wander with a firm belief that the crisis would be over in a matter of moments.
Looking at her he saw her eyes narrow and brow scrunch as she spoke of her concerns. How was it they were supposed to tell everyone here, dashing their hopes, that there was possibly never going to be a way home. It was not an easy task, and could very easily be one that sent people into a riot. The subject was tender and there were few that he knew who could handle breaking such news. Fury had a way with people, a manner in which his voice demanded control. Yet, in this situation he would most likely have riot troops ready, and their presence would only cause panic. Tony was a leader, one of the founding members of the Avengers and a voice many people would listen to. But he was not here, and once again, if not spoken properly even the Iron Man could boast over confidence and cause a divide between the people. What the needed was something low key and honest.
Once his mind snapped back to the current situation, mask hidden blue eyes looked once more into Kates and for a moment he saw something that surprised him. Despite the cocked hip and strong attitude of the woman before him, he saw a genuine interest in his opinion. It was subtle, but this was not rhetorical. She genuinely wanted to know what it was he would say. She had seen what he had, she knew that things were only one act away from taking this airport from refugee camp to a battle royal. There was no way just shooing people out or walking around yelling that this was no longer an airport but a camp for those without homes, could end up well for anyone. There was no need to evict the people here, but Kate had a point, something had to be said. It just so happened to fall to them to say it. Strangely though, that could be just what was needed.
They stood, two heroes that were not born into powers, they trained hard and achieved their strengths through trials and many errors. Neither of them ‘invented’ their art, they just excelled at it, so who better to lead those who were ‘human’ then people they could honestly see as fellow ‘humans’. While Danny sat on the fringe of being ‘super human’, he was not armed with anything but himself. Like him, Kate was just as vulnerable to the same weaknesses everyone here head. That was what could be needed here, people to see that they were not alone. They could use their own desires to be back in their worlds to their advantage. On top of that, they were the force needed to at the same time keep things under control as it was obvious they were not just going to roll over I someone started to ‘throw stones’. Avengers or not they were heroes and much like the privileges that came with the Avenger key card, they too had sway over the trust of those who felt insecure.
It was only a moment, Danny thought over just what would be right to get his point across. To begin to explain what he thought would be the best course of actions. When he did speak up, he spoke with a similar confidence he would use on the people of the 8 terminals. He was clear, even toned, and companionate, traits that at times made his friends roll their eyes. A skill that made him a candidate for leadership of K’hun lun, and showed some similarities to many other versions of himself. "As one of this country’s greatest leaders once said, we must firmly believe in the people. If given truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The key point though, is to give them the facts. Tell them what you just told me, and trust in them to fight at your side, the longer the lies or the information less darkness, the worse the repercussions will be."
A small smile pulled at his lips as he never lost his gaze with the strong woman before him. He knew she could walk away at any moment, but something in him knew that even if she didn’t agree there was hope that she would still work alongside him. “We need to tell them what is going on, but at the same time do just as you said. Use our titles and the Avengers name to reassure them. Once the tension is gone we could make this into a REAL refugee center. It has the space and much of the necessities.” The point was valid, and it’s not like there was an issue with funds. He had already checked and though he had little use for it, his own fortune made a great source of support for those less fortunate. He may have been a ‘youth’ but behind him beat the heart of a man and the same wisdom and strength of all Iron Fists before him.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes Kate wished, she really did wish, that she could be as supportive and as hopeful about humanity as he was but the truth was Kate didn’t trust people all that much. She wanted to give them that chance though, wanted to give them the ability to be able to pick the right choice and she fought tooth and nail to give them that choice. If they did was another story. She’d watched over and over again people make the wrong choices and it saddened her…though this time might be different. This time could be the time that they pulled together and made it through. It worried her that the only reason she thought that was because there was a media black out. That was the compounding factor, the media. It was always the one that got in the way telling people everything was over, that it was bad, because bad news sold and people panicked. Maybe it wasn’t just people in general that she had little hope in, maybe it was more society. After all she liked humanity, she thought they were great, could you hate society but love humanity?
“It’s not these people I don’t trust…it’s everyone else.” Kate explained bluntly. “The truth is people will want to use this to either make a killing, to make a huge profit or both and to be honest it’s everyone else I don’t trust. I don’t want to see these people manipulated and taken advantage of.” The sad truth was it was going to happen…and what would happen to these people after that?
Kate had grown up in a world where information was rationed, where you only ever saw what they wanted you to see and then she had become an Avenger and it had opened her eyes. As she grew up she watched her father’s company manipulate the masses into one school of thought and then she started to see right through it. She often wondered if other people could see through it, those that could were discounted; they were called crazy or the lefties, they were laughed at by society when most of the time they were right. Those that told the truth were a joke and in all honesty it was a sad day in deed when adverts told the truth more than the news programs. Without them they might just stand a chance, who ever thought that the world falling apart and society crumbling might bring a hint of something good and better for them?
He had ideas though and Kate had the time and space for them and the means to hopefully make some of them come true. In all honesty this was kinda her field, she had grown up helping her mother run a charity for the homeless, she knew the logistics, what had to be done…maybe it was about time she stepped up and took over the running of it, after all her mother was long gone, her father wasn’t in the city and while the board could handle the company he charity was another thing all together. She could just walk in and take it and that she might just do. Kate would take over the Foundation and use it to help these people, they couldn’t just leave them sitting at the airport!
Enough was enough.
“Okay so we tell them, “ Kate said with a nod, if they could use their influence for something then all the better, Kate wondered if she could get Cap to throw in an appearance, that would certainly help after all he was about as far up as the Avenger chain as you could get. She doubted Tony would help. That was a wasted avenue. “I mean logistically I recon we could do it….my family own a homelessness charity, we could get them in to help, I’ve got the funds to pay for it. I mean like…my family are like…rich rich kinda rich…there’s no point money just sitting in an account waiting for nothing.” Her head was already thinking of the steps that they were going to have to go through. They were going to have to break the news to people that they were going to be staying here. That they weren’t going to be going home. It was horrible idea but the sooner they got it in their heads then the sooner this was going to get better. Then they had to put infrastructure in place.
The infrastructure she reckoned would be the easy part, that was just bringing things here…the actual care for these people were going to be the hard part. She took a deep breath and considered how they were going to tend to their social needs… “I mean putting infrastructure will be the easy part…putting the social aspects of care these people will need, doctors, therapists, councillors…this is traumatic they are going to need some form of care. There’s enough people here to fill a small town…”
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

KATE BISHOP
SSSHHH ITS A SECRET
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
Danny listened to her fears of what others were surely planning in the dark depths of the cities chaos. It was not like it hadn’t crossed his mind, he knew that along with all the good in the hearts of men, there was always an equal darkness. He had cut himself off from the life his father lead and neglected the company that bore his last name for the simple reason that, even as a child, he had seen the darkness of money, power and greed. When he returned from K’un Lun, he could easily have lived in luxury without ever lifting a finger, but he chose to stay on the Heli-carrier to avoid the inevitable temptations of a spoiled life. Danny might have faced death every day, but he was happy with who he was and what he did, so what need was there for dollars to complicate it. The only good use his fortunes had were giving back to those who offered him their generosity. Money could not buy happiness, but the kindness behind a gift, even of cash, was often a good step closer for some people.
However, he was not blind to the truth of this world, it ran on cash flow and while it did there would always be those corrupted by it. People he knew would sell their children for fame, power, or a few more bills to add to their banks. Even close friends of his were crushed under the weight of someone elses dreams of glory. With the economy likely to crumble, and the future so uncertain, Kate was more than right to think that there were those out there that wanted nothing more than to take from others to secure themselves. That reason though, was why they were here. Protect the innocent did not always mean to save their lives from explosive battles. Being a hero was looking out for the overall wellbeing of others around you who might not have the power to do it themselves.
“If that is your concern then my advice is not to look for the ways something will go wrong, but instead to seek a solution and fix something only when it is broken. There will always be those looking for gain, even in the ‘best’ of conditions. We might be heroes but like anyone here we can only take one step at a time” His voice was ever calm, his hands moving as he explained his point but even that was a soft soothing flow of motion. For a man his age, he spoke with the confidence and wisdom of a veteran.
Danny offered a kind hearted smile though when she did agree to offer her help but it began to fade as he explanation carried on. He was fine with just a ‘lets do it’ the reasoning behind it was a bit in depth and though it helped him to quickly figure out just who he was dealing with, it made him worry about the level of experience the archer before him really had. For anyone who knew the ‘rich’ scene, it was rather simple to figure out who she was from the two sentences she uttered to reassure him that money was no obstacle. Holding up a hand as if to pause her he tried to give his two scents but she promptly went on to discuss the steps that would need to be taken to make this idea into a full blown plan.
Polite and patient he lowered his hand and waited for her to complete her thought process. The logic behind It was perfect and it followed suit with what he had in mind. She had experience with the field of mass care facilities, and that was invaluable even if this was a beyond any normal scale. The ‘small town’ of people they would be speaking with would need all the amenities, and power would have to be properly restored to the building. The airport though did have staff, and with no limit to funds on either of their part it was achievable to have it running in no time, while having employment opportunities for the positions of those not present. Doctors and councelors might not be as big an issue as they thought either. The airport, like was said, had a large enough number of people that some of them had to be in the required fields. Then with them as full care and revolving terms from others outside the airport, they could establish a system easily. Right now though, the big picture was in plain view, but it was time to start with the details.
“ All will be sorted in good time..but I think for the moment we must settle our thoughts and focus our selves on the first step” His finger rose matter-o-factly to signal he was to continue and also that to pause the moment and emphasize the need to get back to the current situation. “We should test run how the news will go with one of the terminals, if all is well we can escalate into the second phase, if things start to crumble then we can find a new approach for the other 7. From what I have seen terminal 8 is the least populated and would make a good starting point.” He explained not wanting to look as if he was pulling the plug on her ideas, but simply trying to get the process flowing before the spent the whole night developing a system that might not work. They had a plan, and knew the actions that were necessary, it was time to test.
“Once we have their trust, then we can set them up for their lives here. As we do that though I feel it would be best for us to leave the mentitons of ‘free’ care out until we are ready to implement it. We do not need these people to wind up entirely reliant on the funds of Bishop Pubishing. They must end up somewhat self-reliant.” He added not afraid to let her know that he had figured out where her money would be coming from. “Also..” he added putting a hand on her shoulder a moment before heading off in the direction of the terminal “..We do not need anyone thinking they could take advantage of you specifically Kate” he said but was cautious to make sure they were completely alone on the tarmac. Danny was not particularly ‘afraid’ of people knowing who he was. It was more for the security of his company and his friends that he remained behind a mask. He knew that it was not for his own safety, and as a hero, he was looking out for others.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes Every this guy said seemed to sound like something that would come out a Chinese fortune cookie, all be it a very good one but still...that was what she was reminded of. “With the way it's been lately we can't afford not to consider all the ways it's going to go wrong, we should be prepared for every eventuality.” That was how Kate went about it. She always had a plan for everything. For anything that could go wrong she already had an idea in her head of how to deal with it, that was how she survived. She didn't have powers. She couldn't teleport away. She hadn't beaten a dragon with her bare hands. She was just your normal average Manhattan kid that had picked up a bow and being prepared was the only advantage that she had.
Operating on her own still felt strange, she would have had a whole team around her, she would have had the Young Avengers and together they could have pulled all of this off in minutes but without them she was lost. As much as it pained her to agree with him he was right, one step at a time was all they could do, they didn't know if they would still be alive or if there would still be a city to fucking come back to after step one. Thanos could destroy them at any time. They were lucky to be alive...maybe he was just sitting waiting for them to start slaughtering each other. It was about the only reason she could think of for why they were still alive.
He has solid ideas, Kate nodded her head, "Sounds like a good idea. Also if we do it terminal by terminal we're less likely to lose control of the situation and it's not like the news will spread fast after all...no internet now." For a moment she wondered how many facebook messages she had from the outside world or tweets...man she kinda missed her phone being a real phone instead of a very crappy camera...which was essentially what it had been reduced to. Without the mobile network it couldn't even keep time properly.
They were making long term plans but right now she was more worried about what was going to happen in the next few hours, they could plan the rest at another time. "Before any of that we need to get this city through the night without killing each other before we can consider rebuilding..." That was the thing though, people weren't going to want to rebuild. They wanted hope. They wanted temporary, because it would mean that this wasn't going to be forever...and that one day they could get home to their friends and families. "Lets just give them the bad news and hope they don't tear each other or the airport apart before we even consider any of the long term stuff...these people wont want to think long term. They want to think it's going to last a few days then they could go home, we're making a massive assumption that this city is going to be here long enough for any of that." No, the chance of Thanos letting them live that long was slim.
Then he said something that completely threw her.
Kate stood there for a moment pausing. He knew her name. He's worked it out. Truth was it wasn't hard if you were observant and you could do the math but that was the thing - most people couldn't do the maths. "Don't ever use my real name when I'm in costume." Kate thought it was best to lay down the law right now. She was quite calm about it though, there was no anger or fear in her voice and frankly she thought it was over due that no one had asked who she really was. Frankly enough people knew by now inside the hero circle she was just waiting for it to end up as a foot note on the tenth page of Wednesdays newspaper. "Come on, let's get this over and done with, let's go break some hearts."
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

900 KATE BISHOP
FEEL FREE TO TAKE CONTROL OF ANY AIR PORT PEOPLE
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
Danny walked across the tarmac at a rather relaxed pace. There was no need to rush in, and the chance to run over his thoughts and words a few times before waltzing into what could end up being the first of many riots was more than helpful. Glancing to Kate though he knew it was important to keep on the same page, and he did have an apology to face for his name calling, literally. “Sorry..” he began, as all good apologies should “..I was only trying to show you in the shortest way how you should be more cautious with your words. Though it’s not really like you hide behind a mask, but, if you’re worried at all about your identity then it was the best way to caution you that I could think of”. It was the truth, if it was indeed a sore subject, dropping so many hints could one day get her into worse trouble then him finding out. Many were incapable or unwilling to connect the dots, but there were enough people now who would start into the information trade industry that secrets could be more valuable then dollars in the coming weeks.
Reaching the ground level access to the terminal, Danny was not really surprised to find the door unlocked. It was not exactly like they were trying to keep people away from the air traffic. Also with power cut there were few security systems now days that could prevent or detect break-ins so what was the point. Pulling on the door he held it for Kate, not so much out of the sense of chivalry but more a mutual respect for her as a hero and what he could assume may have been friendship between her and whomever it was she knew him as. At least he really hoped that this other him was only really different in age, it would really suck to find out in another world that you were an inconsiderate jerk. He didn’t need anyone with a grudge to carry over sour feelings from their world to him.
Once inside Daniel twitched his nose, the scent of the building having become rather offensive. Food stands without power made preserving perishables impossible. Rot and decay wafted over the still and stale air. No one ever considered the ventilation and cooling systems for the value they really had, till they stopped. Carrying on forward he held his arm up to his nose for what small relief it could give and he again looked to his partner, they had to be ready and maybe some light conversation would help distract the mind. “So, would you rather do the talking? Or should I? At least if we leave the speaking to just one of us there won’t be confusion and the other can be crowd control”. He knew once they were in the public eye the masses would likely gather like flocks of the despite used to flow to profits. Anyone who appeared strong in a time of need would gather the hopes of others like moths to a flame. However, if they did not hear exactly what they wanted there was always the possibility of a herd of sheep turning on a dime to be a ravenous mob of wolves. Humans were fickle creatures and the unseen empathic connection was stronger than any would like to admit. All it would take is one person to challenge the teens and things could turn from planning to pandemonium.
Following the ramps that turned from concrete into carpet the two soon found themselves among the many shops and gates of the 8th terminal. At first drawing no more attention than anyone else in the airport. Kids ran past oblivious to the detriment of their situation, playing out games and enjoying the freedom granted by parents who were falling into their fears. The mind of a child was one often under credited. Here in these dire situation though, it was really a breath of fresh air and if people would only look, they could find more then the hope they needed in the heart of a child.
“I think the best place to draw attention is the central terminal down a few to the left..” he offered but seemed to trail off as he noticed a few eyes on them. Three men stood off on their own, segregated from the others and standing tightly together as they muttered to one another. In turns they would turn to look at the two costumed hero’s and then rotate through watching or speaking. They would be the ones most likely to shoot them down, it was evident in how their eyes bore down on them that they were not looking for hope, but instead festering in their angers. There was real danger here, and while very few of these people alone could pose a threat to trained heroes, it was the masses that could overwhelm them. Also, these were not inherently bad people, they were just scared and looking for someone to turn to, situation was forcing their hands and all Danny could do was look away and focus on the goal. Any falter in their confidence could mean death to their plan before it started, and worse, could spark a fight that put people in the need of intensive care that they simply didn’t have the resources for.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes
"I don't need you to show me anything." Kate snapped back, she wasn't one about guarding her ID too closely, she knew that it was going to come out one day, it always did but the truth was she just didn't like being a Bishop, she didn't want to be too closely associated with her families and it's casual relationship with the truth. "I just...my family has a rather...casual relationship with the truth regardless of what people believe of them." Bishop Publishing was clean, it was cookie cutter, it was her family smiling from TV screens pretending to be perfect as her fathers multi media conglomerate fed them filtered and misrepresentations to fit someone elses agenda. Kate didn't feel comfortable being apart of a machine designed to lie.
As they reached the terminal a sorry state of affairs met them, the power had gone out, it smelled bad, like the whole place was going bad...this was no place for people to be living in and it just made her more resolved to sort it out. It was odd to see an airport like this in this state, it looked like something out of some zombie horror film that you'd scoff at. This place was normally crawling with security staff, police with guns roaming the halls with a bullet ready for anyone that so much as looked like they were a threat so they could ease the panicked masses. It all seemed rather futile in the circumstances.
She sighed heavily, "I better do the talking, you'd freak people out, I mean no offence but the you from this world is kinda like...twenty years older." Truth was seeing something like that was just going to make the situation more uneasy and right now she was trying to do damage control and prevent any more shit kicking off. As they walked through the concrete ramps and rabbit warren's of corrugated sheet metal and kids. There were kids, unsupervised by their parents running around playing games, she could hear them laughing and shrieking at each other given free run of the normally obstructive and oppressive building.
Of course they were going to attract their attention first, it was a little girl, utterly innocent and looked like she was no older than five came running over and threw her arms around Kate's waist. She was a little stunned for a moment as the girl started babbling about how an Avenger had finally come. Kate felt her heart break a little, maybe she should have been here sooner, she should have done more already but she had been so busy trying to contain the violence and the looting that had erupted when the city had been ripped or plunged or whatever verb you would like to use into this hell of a reality.
Glancing at Danny Kate just smiled at the kid, picked her up and gave her a proper hug. "Yeah, it's alright, we've come to help...we're gonna sort this place out okay." Letting the kid back down she continued their walk through the terminal, people were taking note of his advice, a nod of the head indicated she had taken it on board and when they got there she climbed up on top of one of the tables and loudly wolf whistled. Heads turned, a strange silence came over the place pretty fast as she stood there....looking at these people who were waiting for her to give them some good news and truth be told Kate didn't have any.
"Um hi...hi....So. I'm going to make this as brutally honest as I can because I think you all deserve the complete truth. As you are all painfully aware...the city has pretty much been transported to another dimension, we're cut off from the rest of the world. We have no way to contact anyone outside of New York City, the boundary around the city kills anyone trying to cross it. That's the badnews...the less bad news is the fact help is on it's way, we will be setting up temporary accommodation on the apron outside in the new few hours and help will be here. I promise you that. In the mean time though, in order to get that done fast and get everyone the help they need we need you all to remain calm, we need you to listen to us. " She looked down at Danny, "you want to add anything?"
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

791 KATE BISHOP
I THINK THAT WENT WELL.
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
Danny could not help the small smile that pulled back at his lips when he saw the young girl latch herself onto Kate. The first sign they had that these people were looking for someone to guide them. The girl was only a young child, but it was enough to give him that additional confidence to carry forward. Looking to Kate he nodded at the suggestion she provided. “Agreed” The archer had a point, he was no the Iron Fist that belonged to this world, the people here knew him as a different man. Danny was still just a ‘boy’ by most standards. The only thing the defined him, other than his obvious skills, as a man were the sights and tragedies he had seen in his life. Many told him he had a sense of wisdom beyond his age, but wise words would not convince the desperate that he was a face worth following. These people needed familiarity, needed a representative they could connect with their home dimension. Kate was just that, a hero they knew and someone at their level. It was easy for Tony Stark to say they could rise above this, the man’s suit could toss a dump truck like it was a skipping stone. What Kate, and all heroes like her, brought to the table was common ground.
Sure she had trained to be one of the best, and still out preformed anyone in this terminal, she started off like them and had worked through blood, sweat, and tears to be a hero and an idol. No special powers, no galactic background story, a mortal resident of earth who went above and beyond.
Kate slipped up onto the tables, getting herself above everyone and giving her voice the best chance of reaching over the crowds. Her image alone caught most people’s attention and that whistle brought the rest. Danny remained on the ground, not wanting to draw any focus away from her, he listened in and watched the mass of gathered people for any signs of trouble. For the most part the response was positive and the message of truth and assistance got a warm buzz of chatter going across the floor.
For now it really felt like this could work, so long as those with negative oppinions kept to themselves, the seed of hope would sprout and grow and soon they would have these folks back on track to survival and support. There were still those though who didn’t seem as impressed, eyes shifted and whispers hid among the excitement like a snake in the eternal garden. There was never going to be full support, but for now the smile of others suppressed the fear and anger.
Once the floor was turned to him he just smiled up at Kate and gave her a thumbs up “I think you got it all covered.”. He said and lifted his hands to offer the first clap. It didn’t take long for an applause to go from one to an uproar. The act was not so much to just commend Kate for her speech but was another step to create confidence and unity among the large group. Being a part of the applause brought more smiles and the focus of more around the terminal. It was a sign to all that something good had been done or was on the horizon.
Once the thunder of hands settled down Danny lifted a hand up to draw a bit of attention. “Anyone sick, injured, young, or elderly should remain together here and will be first to move out and get supplies.” Getting onto a chair for a bit of clearance over the group he rose both hands to use as directional signals. “Those without children to watch and capable of helping please gather off to the right. We will need a teams to both help with set up, and the others to clean up this area and make it more hospitable. Anyone with electrical knowledge please come forward so that we can get the power back up and running. Thank you” With a bow he sunk off the chair and watched as the masses started to break up as instructed.
A sigh of relief met his lips and he looked to the table once again offering a hand to help Kate down from the table. “Great speech” he complimented her genuinely “and while I haven't yet, I would like to apologies for before. I was out of place and am sorry”. It some time ago now, but he really wanted to make sure to clear it up between them. He meant no harm in saying her name, and defiantly didn’t want to dredge up any past pains with her family.

In the stillness of the moment it takes for a Polaroid picture to capture our facesthe world has turned a touch on it's axis and the only thing certain is that everything changes With a shake of the head she waved off his comments and apologies. “Don't, it's okay.” Kate hadn't got down from the table before she felt something, someone, latch back on to her. It was the little girl again...and as much as she knew she should be emotionally distancing herself from all of this to deal with it objectively Kate couldn't do that. Instead she just wrapped her up in her arms, picked her up and let the kid latch on to her neck instead. She wasn't that heavy which was kinda a surprise to Kate but she ignored that factoid for a moment and gave her a small smile. “Alright, you going to come help Hawkeye and Iron Fist then?” Kate asked the kid who answered with a small nod but kept her council otherwise.
Her brain was a hundred miles ahead, trying to work out roughly how many people they were going to have to cater and provide shelter for. How many people needed medical help and how many were going to be able to help them into getting this place made safe and habitable. Well as close as habitable it could get. “Okay, so we need to take head counts of those that need medial attention first and begin categorising them by who is most urgent. We need some kinda triage thing going on, also ask around if we have anyone medically trained here we need their help. There's always a doctor on the plane right?” Or was that just the movies.
It would be just the movies wouldn't it. Their luck in a nut shell.
The kid shifted, her head on Kates should and she truthfully wondered what she was going to do to A get her to actually say something useful to her and B what the hell had happened to her. Kids didn't say nothing and cling to people when good things were happening. Something had happened and truthfully Kate and neither the training or the ability to make it better for her but it broke her heart...and it strengthened her resolve to get this sorted out, to get them all home, to get the city unlocked and to be able to deal with whatever was thrown at them next.
“There's gotta be a phone booth or a landline phone here, even in one of the offices. All the emergency calls are being rooted through Avengers Tower at the moment so maybe we could ask for back up...we can't do this on our own. As much as I am all for you know the kids saving the day we do not have enough man power or resources here to get this done on our own.” The whole situation was so much bigger than they had even though and this was just one terminal of more than she could count on her fingers. The scale was just unprecedented.
they closed the Astoria at the end of last summer, the place we earned our pedigree the scene of our victory, our sanctuary in the center of London, now they’re building a railway to carry the vanquished the sing alongs go on but they're singing different songs in room that we don't know on the other side of the city.

TEAM WORK BBY!
THE KEY TO IMMORTALITY IS FIRST LIVING A LIFE WORTH REMEMBERING
Danny watched as the second Kate was back to ground level, the young girl from before had latched back onto her in silent need. Masked eyes softened as Kat hoisted the child into her arms. It didn’t matter how many bad guys you punched, or invading fleets you defeated, this right here was what truly made one feel like a hero. While he had his years of training to achieve the mystic forces that powered his fists, both he and Kate had entered this world as the very people who were around them now. Fate lead them to the costumes and titles, but being able to help more as just people was always more rewarding.
“Okay, so we need to take head counts of those that need medical attention first …”
Danny quickly left all other thoughts behind him as he turned his full attention back to both Kate and the task at hand. She seemed to be following on the same wave length and that would be a real asset to them. He nodded politely as she spoke, giving her full and undivided attention. Once she finished with a question his smile returned and he looked out over the mobilized crowd, still on its prior task of organizing the two groups. “Chance dictates that there should at least be one or two medical professionals among them but..fate is not as kind as odds. At the least we can probably feel assured that we have a few with basic medical training…even if that is one of us” he pointed out. He was no doctor but Shield made it mandatory to have a general understanding of field medical practices. Danny also had his teachings form K’un lun, though much of the required herbs and tools probably were not prolific in an airport terminal.
“Once the groups are separate though, you are right, having a list of most to least severe will help direct what resources we do come up with.” His eyes narrowed for a second as he mulled over an idea in his head that he didn’t seem, yet, fully comfortable with. “I agree, we need help. We are vastly out numbered here." His frame tensed as he continued to toss around a thought in his head before slowly and softly offering a suggestion. "Perhaps we should split up. Just for a moment. One to work here on the medical front, and another to lead an group to get the power back on. With power we will get phones back, and proper air circulation will give these people some needed relief.” The terminal was stagnant and hot, the mass of moving bodies now was not helping the matter either. “Although…” he looked up at the walls of windows and crossed his arms. “We could break out the upper windows…they can be patched once the systems are back but it would really give an instant effect” He used a slow hand gesture to offer her the idea to give an opinion on it.
Looking to Kate now he eyed the child in her arms wondering if it would be a good idea to keep the young one close or not. She did seem rather infatuated with Kate but things still could go south, and the few he had seen before eyeing them up would not easily be so swayed by a speech. And while he hated to admit it, they were still ‘kids’ in the eyes of many, though he could not be so sure how much of the airport population had noticed his own height and age difference like Kate had, the possibility was there. If anyone doubted their ability to lead, it would only take one voice to set the seed of distrust and they could have the whole system collapse. This being his largest concern for not leaving either of them alone with a group. It was easy to put someone like green goblin through a wall but, these were civilians, scared and uncertain yes, but not inherently bad people. If fear drove them to retaliate and lash out it could be hard to mediate without injury. Even if they struck first, to counter attack a less qualified person could only worsen the case as more would see it as oppressive behavior. They were still on thin ice, and while he would like to have faith that their titles alone would rally people behind them, Danny had the scars to prove why faith should not always be your only plan.
