Why do people always assume I'm lying?

"Stop. This is madness. Loki, don't go on like this. You'll get shoved into jail. This will not go well. You're best on your own," Ikol said over and over to the boy who had managed to get hold of a green shirt (several sizes too large for him) and green shorts (that thankfully fitted). His normal attire was in a bag. He hoped the Avengers had a washing machine. He'd been wearing his day clothes for days now and sleeping rough. Inside the bag was his golden circlet as well and he wondered how recogniseable he would be like this. No doubt his green eyes would help. Osborn had warned him that if anyone saw his eyes they would have a chance of recognising him. For once that was something that he needed.
So a boy, in smart black boots, green shorts and a green shirt several sizes too large for him made his way to the Mansion of the Avengers. His black hair was shaggy and hung down to his shoulders at it's longest. Surprisingly, he had no bags under his eyes as Ikol had provided a lookout for him. Loki wondered if the bird ever slept. Although he was aware that the creature was just a part of his imagination. But he wasn't insane. Ikol was him, just no one else could see him.
"Ikol, I'm not going to sleep out in abandoned houses for the rest of my time here. I need somewhere safe. And the heroes have been kind to me so far. They might be able to give me shelter," He told the bird. "What about the views that surround you? Remember Osborn? He's an ally as well. Do you want to totally align yourself the the 'heroes'?" Ikol asked. "I'm good now. I just am the only one who can be a bridge to the other side. I do the sneaky stuff. And any villains who find out, I can tell them that I'm infiltrating." "And when those 'villains' ask you to join in? When you have to harm someone to prove which side you are on?" Ikol questioned and Loki's blood ran cold. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that. I'll try and keep me being here a secret." He muttered.
The building was before him and the child bit his lip, nervous now. Damn Ikol, making him worry. It wouldn't come to that. He could use his words to do anything. He had managed to get the Tongue of the Serpent to talk without any way of backing up his threat. He had fooled Mephisto. This would go well. He needed a place to live. People he could trust. Although he knew that would take time.
So much seemed to hang on a single action, the boy thought, hand raised, about to knock. He knew Ikol was watching him and Loki bit his lip. If the heroes wanted to throw him in jail, he would have to make a quick getaway. "Three, two, one. Knock." He muttered to himself, counting down before he finally knocked and the hollow sound seemed to echo out around him. "Anybody home?" He called out. Please let this be OK. He hoped.
((I'm good with many people turning up for this if they want. The more the merrier. ^^ ))

It had been a tough morning. Well, as tough as a morning usually was. Molly was never a morning child, and it didn't help that the Avengers never had anything good for breakfast. Why couldn't there be any sweet old lady super heros that had muffin baking powers, or would make her cookies, or buy her sugary cereals whenever she begged and pleaded and made a cute face at them? This left Molly fairly surly until something came along to distract her each morning. Sometimes it was by annoying some of the Avengers by trying to help them. Other days she colored and put pictures up on the fridge for everyone to see just as she'd done at home. Sometimes Molly would get chased out of the house by an irate adult, or asked to accompany someone to do something. Today she'd been handed a pack of chalk and told to entertain herself outside.Molly had smiled exuberantly before racing out to turn the nearby sidewalks into colorful art pieces. She had done a colorful drawing of her favorite heroes. Among them she had drawn her friends, the Runaways, because she desperately missed the kids who she considered family. It was nearing lunch-time and Molly was covered in chalk when a cat raced past. The child gasped in delight and bounded to her feet. Her chalk, and drawings were left abandoned as she raced through the bushes to try and catch the kitten. "Here kitty-kitty!" Molly called as she rustled around in the yard, vanishing behind bushes, and getting herself covered in leaves, and dirt. But the cat was nowhere to be seen. With a dejected sigh the little girl tromped back around to the front of the house. There was someone in the doorway that hadn't been there earlier. Molly forgot all about her chalk and drawings and instead focused on this newcomer. They looked to be a kid, just like her. "Hi!" Molly said cheerfully as she walked closer. Then she caught sight of the boy's face. "LUCAAAAAAAAAAAAAS!"Molly broke into a run, took the stoop stairs in a single leap and stumbled into her friend with a gigantic smile. She was obviously delighted to see him, if the attempt at a tackle-hug was any indication.

Pietro knew eventually it would end up this way, there was no Mr. Snow to pay them and give them missions, his team was only half of what it should be and Strange was right, he was going to need to suck it up and work with his old team members on this thing. He held the key card in his hand pushing it into the reader at the gate, much to his surprise it worked, seemed he was still in the system. “Once an Avenger, always an Avenger.” He said to himself fondly, if other people listened in it would have been nothing but a sound they could not make out. He pushed open the gate slowly for him before taking that first step. He heard noise that drew his attention to a girl tackling a boy.
He was confused over the two children, he was pretty sure he knew everyone who was at the school, he did help teach them. Were they part of the Young Avengers? He hesitated waling closer to them instead watch them interact a little, trying to place if he knew them or not. The girl reminded him of Luna, but he also seemed to remember her in passing. The boy though he did not know but there was a gut feeling that he should, he should know him very well, and it was unsettling to Pietro.
Every day there was something different going on, people from different dimensions, sisters with drinking problems, and playboy swamp rats popping up he really should not be that surprised by this. He could see the Avengers opening their doors to those without homes. Especially those with powers, his mind then moved to the young mutants, there was no Xavier School, no School for gifted youngsters, nothing for the mutant kind. He needed to stop thinking like that, there needed to be a safe place for any young powered child, Wanda would be happy with his though process today, she would call it growth. It was though settled in more selfish reasons, what if Luna was lost in New York, what about his father and his ability to twist young minds? Those were his reasons.
He didn’t waste time getting to the door near the children. “Hello” He tried to sound friendly, but he wasn’t really a friendly person, he was pretty sure this was how Logan sounded when he tried to be non-threating. Least he didn’t look like he could kill. He didn’t know what else to say, his parental instincts were only with his own child and she was on the moon.

He hadn't been waiting long before someone came. Although it wasn't how Loki expected. He though that someone would answer the door. Preferably Captain America, whom he had met only days ago and got on well with (thus he expected he would get a home here). But instead, he was greeted with a voice from behind him. A young and familiar voice. Molly had arrived here? Well, it was a relief to know that she was in safe hands (not that he had given too much thought to her fate) but this was going to make things awkward for him. After all, he had lied to here, fearing the reaction he may get due to the fact that he was Loki. And now he was here, trying to get a place to stay because he was the brother of Thor, Loki.
"Good luck," Ikol chuckled, noticing the brief moment of worry that fled over the boy's face. "Not very comforting, Ikol," He told the bird as he turned, smile on his face to look at Molly. It took seconds for her to recognise him, if even that and he grinned as she tackled him with a hug. It was only because of his blood that Loki did not stumble back from the impact but was able to wrap his arms around her in a hug and lift her from the ground slightly before carefully making sure her feet touched the ground once more. "Heya Princess," he said, remembering the preferred code name that she given. Princess Powerful. Best start this off easily.
"Good to see you Molly. I see you made you're way here. Helping out the heroes, Wolverine and the likes?" He asked with a smile on his face and a slightly mischievous glint in his eyes. He could remember their conversation with ease and he knew that people always loved it when details about them were mentioned in passing. Plus it was better to get into her good side before the big revelation inevitably came. He glanced nervously at the door he had just knocked at. The adults would probably recognise him, even without his costume. Right. Home. He needed that. And hopefully to keep a friendship with Molly. Sure it wasn't necessary, but it was pleasant
"You have company from behind. And I don't think he'll like you as much as Molly," Ikol warned. Well, since such information meant pretty much anyone, thanks to his former self, it didn't help that much except serve to make him more anxious. It was best Molly hear the truth from his own lips rather than someone else's. Because a hero had a lot more sway over someone than a former villain. "Molly, I'm sorry for not telling you earlier, but I may have told you the wrong name when we last met," Loki said, his voice slightly hurried as he spoke and hung his head down as if he was embarrassed that he hadn't said told the truth. "You see, my actual name is rather unfortunate and I was scared that you wouldn't be my friend if you knew it. Please forgive me?" The apologetic tone was true and Loki hoped that this would be enough to keep her on his side.
At the voice, he turned around, put a smile on his face and gave a friendly smile. "Hello, it's nice to meet you," He said, tone friendly and eyes closed in a smile for a few seconds before he opened them, revealing the glistening green eyes that where so associated with him. "Quicksilver. I pretended to be his sister for a bit," Ikol said and Loki's eyes flickered to the magpie, invisible to the others and then back to Quicksilver. He drew in a breath, chest moving out at this. Right, keep calm. He had Molly on his side with any luck and his tongue would be able to get him out of any problem. He was prepared for this. Loki found himself holding the bag tightly with the nerves that now went through him. Did Quicksilver already recognise him? The hello hadn't been that friendly. "Relax," Ikol reminded him. Loki breathed and relaxed his muscles. Nothing had gone wrong yet. Yet.

The hug was the happy hug of reunited friends. Molly giggled excitedly when she was lifted off the ground before being placed back down. When he asked her about Wolverine she shook her head. "I haven't met Wolverine yet. They say he's not in New York. Which is sad because I want to meet him, he's my favorite, but I've met all sorts of great super heroes! Ms Marvel helped me build a fort in the kitchen! And Spiderman took me through the city and-"He had interrupted her urgently to tell her that the name he had originally given her wasn't his real one. Molly's brow furrowed in confusion. She didn't understand how a name could be unfortunate, or why she wouldn't like him if he told her. Then something clicked in the child's brain. "Ohmygosh is your name DICK?!" It was the worst name she could come up with on short notice. Almost as quickly another superhero, an adult, was behind them. Molly turned towards Pietro with a gigantic smile. "Hi Mr. Quicksilver!" she greeted him, bouncing down the few steps to say hello. "This is my friend!" she added, gesturing back towards Loki. "He's an alien. From assguard."

If we're only ever looking back
We will drive ourselves insane
Bed, it was what he felt he was in. His bed, alone, how odd. He was sure he had fallen a sleep with someone, but he could be wrong. The nights where starting to melt together into one giant memory for him. The covers where over his face and protecting him from the morning light that he was sure was already up. There was a pounding in his head and an aching in his stomach, too much to drink and not enough to eat. He wasnt sure how long he had slept for, but he had tossed and turned to the point where he had knocked all the pillows from the bed. Rolling over he let out a groan which smelt of alcohol and death. "Good morning sir, you slept for three hours, I believe that is a new record here. Your blood alcohol level is at 4.5 percent. I advice something containing bread and coffee."Tony let out another groan, "I am sorry sure, I dont seem to be able to understand groans quite yet." Tony rolled out of bed, right onto the floor. He hit the ground hard, the blankets from the bed falling with his body. There he laid for a few minutes trying to obtain the drive to get himself up off the floor and into clothes. So he was still a little drunk, that wasnt far from normal these days. After he had gathered things that looked like clothes he grabbed his sun glasses and made his way to the kitchen. The kitchen held everything he needed, food, coffee and more coffee. No one was up, he knew that there where people living here, but he didnt really know or care how many and why. Tony had met so many people, and all of them looked to him for help and guidance. "A lot of good that did them." He muttered to himself over the cup of black liquid gold. But people made him nervous, they made him want to cringe away and hide in a hole with a bottle of liquor. This was the reason he had a new house being built, just for him. Out of the way and hidden from the people who wanted his help. Not the best way to deal with what was going on, but it seemed to sever him well enough. Coffee in hand Tony wandered out of the kitchen and into one of the more main halls of the mansion. "Sir, you should eat something." J.A.R.I.V.S's voice told him from the speakers in the walls. Tony as always ignored the others wise words. Rounding a corner he came across a sight that made him stop short. There where two children hugging and greeting each other while an older boy stood back. Blue hues drifted over the two children, he knew the one in the over sized green shirt right away, it was the child sized Loki he had almost beat into the ground. Next to him was a girl in pinks, he had no idea who she was. "Hi Mr. Quicksilver!"The small girl exclaimed to the boy who seemed to feel very out of place. Tony watched the three of them for a moment more before he decided to enter into the area. Looking first to the tall white to blonde haired boy he didnt smile as he spoke. "Can I call you Quicky for short?" Tonys hair was a mess and he was sure he smelt like a mini fridge after a college party. Next he looked to Loki, he was still a distance away from the two children, but closer to the boy he had deemed Quicky. "What are you doing here Loki?" Outfit: HereNotes: Tag: Open |

The two talked, they were familiar with each other, he gave a small half smile at them when he saw the girl almost squeal at the boy. His brain began to put things together, Molly a girl in her little group called the runaways, the boy, well it took a little longer for him but he remembered, Loki. He was younger than he remembered a child when last he was a teen, he had joined Billy and his friends, and he could believe that the Asguardian was trying to turn his life around and he could understand the boy, but there was always going to be a part of Pietro that would never fully trust him. Pietro never fully trusted anyone.
The white haired mutant shook his head at being called Mr. Quicksilver, if things didn’t get better that was when Tony deseeded to show his face. What had been a half smile was replaced with a small scowl, Quicky, who did Tony think he was, Clint! “Funny Stark, been spending too much time with Hawkeye?” His tone took a sarcastic tone, those familiar with Pietro knew that tone all too well.
Even though Pietro had his experience with people from different realities he never did think anyone here could be, it wasn’t like with Kurt or Danny where they looked different, looked young when they shouldn’t be, but Loki was a shape shifter, he had been this size before, he had been a woman and even his sister, Molly looked just like she always did so did Tony, the though never even crossed his mind.
He looked at Molly next, he could not have her call him Mr. Quicksilver like that, it just felt odd. “Just Quicksilver, or Pietro will do fine.” How old was the girl? She looked around Luna’s age, something about her just made his tone softer with her, but who cared if that rumor went around, Pietro was nice to children, he was a father and a uncle. Loki didn’t get the same harsh tone he normally would “alien from Asguard?” His brow rose there was a hint of sarcasm, “not your best lie.” He wanted to ask about Billy, about if there was news on Tommy but he didn’t those were questions for Wanda to ask.
Pietro then looked back up at Stark, “so you just going to stand there or let us in?”

Why do people always assume I'm lying?

Molly seemed delighted to see him, something that was very useful for the child. If he had someone to support his cause already... Perhaps it was thinking a bit too technically. Still, it was good having a friend of sorts. He smiled and nodded along as Molly said what had happened in her life so far. It sounded like she was enjoying herself, despite the fact that she hadn't found Wolverine. Or that frog that she had mentioned. Still, that would have to wait as his real name needed to be made apparent - or at least that he had lied about who he was. Or at least his name. Although it was the wrong name that she suddenly assumed that he had. "No, my name is-" At that point Quicksilver turned up and Loki silenced himself.
Molly gave her greeting and a man appeared. Loki looked at him for a good few seconds, taking in the features of the newcomer. He blinked before recognising that this was Tony Stark. Then he quickly put a friendly smile on his face, knowing this was the man he would have to convince the most. "Hello!" He greeted everyone, his tone friendly and open as he looked around at everyone. There was a smile on his face as usual and he looked unconcerned, despite being surrounded by heroes when the general census of the universe was that he was a villain. Well, he had Molly on his side and he had proved to Stark that he was a not villain. Hopefully.
When Molly introduced him, Loki facepalmed and chuckled into his hand. Her mispronunciation of Asgard was amusing to the boy at least. There was still a laugh on his lips and a light in his eyes when Quicksilver questioned him on that. "I did not lie. I said I was from Asgard which was a different realm. But such terms are not some of the ones more commonly taught at schools, I believe," He told the white haired hero cheerfully. And he was telling the truth this time. He turned to Molly. "You're schools are are most lacking in their basic explanation of the nine realms," He told her cheerfully, joining in with the lightheartedness of the others. He appeared just as an ordinary boy of about twelve with the way he acted.
Then Stark asked his question and Loki returned to looking at the man, tall as he was and green eyes focused on the man's face. "I'm looking for a place to stay. Because you know, I'm good now. And here is where Thor is most likely to come if he comes here and I want to be here for my brother if he does end up stuck here like the rest of us!" He said, honestly. So much truth telling today! It didn't bother the child so much to tell the truth. Sometimes it was for the best and if he wanted to get a home instead of living in an abandoned house. At Quicksilver's words about being let in, Loki nodded enthusiastically. He hoped that there was some food as well. He could really do with some bacon. That would be nice. Very tasty and the likes.

Molly had just finished introducing Lucas, which had apparently turned out to be unnecessary because somehow everybody already knew him, when another familiar figure popped out the door. "Hi Mister Ironman!" Molly greeted the adult cheerfully as she hopped back up the stairs to stand by Loki again. This had turned out to be a terrible idea, though, because Ironman smelled icky. The girl wrinkled her nose. "You smell," she informed him candidly. "But I drew a picture of you!" she pointed her colorful chalky fingers at one of the drawings on the walk that kind of looked like a robot. It was pink and yellow, mostly because she didn't have red chalk. He was next to a blue and pink Captain America, as told mostly by what was probably a shield, and a yellow and purple Wolverine with spikes coming out of his hands. But then Ironman said something that made the little girl pause and stare at her friend Lucas. "Loki?" she asked carefully, it was funny, a moment ago she'd simply been concerned his name was Dick. Now it turned out he shared it with a meanie-face bad guy. Unless he was the bad guy. But that didn't really register in her brain yet. When Quicksilver accused Loki of lying, the child looked wildly between the two. "La-lie?"Lucas, or Loki, or whatever his name was quickly reassured her that it wasn't a lie. The little girl's brow furrowed as he explained that schools were lacking in teaching the nine realms. "I learned the fifty states," Molly piped in unhelpfully. "I even know a song about them! Is there a song about the nine realms?"Her attention span quickly shifted off the topic of silly songs and things learned in school when they were talking about Loki staying with them. The little girl's face lit up like a christmas tree. "Can he stay!? Can he stay!?" Molly chorused excitedly, obviously thrilled to have a friend "near her own age" again. "There's an empty room near mine! Oh, please! Please, Mr. Ironman!" hopefully he had less willpower against her pleading face then her parents did.
