Why do people always assume I'm lying?

It was on the taxi ride back to the girl's house that Loki really got to reflect on all that had happened. And only then did things really sink in. This was the most physical he had ever been and he was not one to be like that. Even if most of his work had involved talking and then healing the true hero. Who knew who he was and still trusted him. Loki struggled with this. So many people accepted him here. No one tried to kill him. No one hated him for all the evil that he had done. Apart from himself. He was still wracked with guilt for crimes he couldn't even remember he had committed. He was so used to Thor being the only person who trusted him. It was a strange and incomprehensible world for the lad.
His mind went back to the church. He wasn't sure if it was his own presence that had caused so much panic in the people. He was a foreign god to them. And probably barely even that. His former self was a super villain and something they would no doubt more readily link to a demon of some sort. Well, he certainly wasn't one of those. Although Chaos was often attributed to him. Then the strange girl, who he didn't even have a name for, identified him. Loki had said nothing and gave no sign of acknowledgement but had continued with his work to save her. He paused in his thoughts as he sat in the cab and finally admitted the truth to her. "I'm sorry about lying to you. Most people don't trust me when they know my actual name." He commented.
As his eyes went to his shoes, he remembered the priest who had helped them. He had kept the people at bay as they became too much and it had been him that had brought the cloth, water and candles. Which was remarkable, considering that his identity had been figured out. It only ever took one before they all realised. It had been kind of the man. It had allowed the boy to hurry on his way. He hadn't even thanked the priest. He had just accepted the man's help without a word. He wondered whether the priest had given any thought to him or if his concern was to his people and the injured girl. Silent thoughts that he would not share. He put a smile on his face for the girl. However dark his thoughts got, he there was no point sharing them.
They ended up on a journey to Bronx, to the road that she lived on. She still hadn't taken her mask off or revealed her name and the journey was mostly silent. But Loki decided to break what almost seemed a tradition now of not knowing her name. "So what name do you have?" He asked, carefully, still staring at his feet. "Or a name that you are willing to give me to use," He added. He had to remember to not appear like the villain. This girl was still masked. She cared about her identity. Best not let her think that he was trying to find out all about her.

Loki seemed absorbed in thought during most of the taxi ride. Kamala herself was doing a lot of thinking a lot too. About him, whether she trusted the Asgardian, how her wound was looking and if their operation had been worth it. At least the answer to the last point was clear. "I think... we did well. Thanks for the help." The boy responded by apologizing. "I understand." She truly did. "I pretend to be Ms Marvel for similar reasons." And then the teen girl fell silent. There didn't seem to be much else to talk about and a lot to reflect on. The whole fight in the church -from the initial hesitation all the way to the final help by the priest- had been a surreal experience to the young Ms Marvel. It had been one thing to save her own people, by which she meant her acquaintances in Jersey City. But saving complete strangers, with backgrounds, knowledge and beliefs alien to her own, was somehow different.
Kamala recognized her street. How fast one gets used to a new neighborhood. Just as the cab approached her block, Loki asked for her name. The teen looked at him looking at his shoes. The car stopped. "You can call me K, like karaoke." The two kids got out of the taxi two blocks away from home. "We need to get up. My apartment is on the fifth floor." And a neighboring building only had four, which was how Ms Marvel jumped in and out of her home. Experimenting with her hand, Kamala tried to stretch her limb again. "I think I can control my powers again." Her guts still hurt and she had trouble walking alone. But hopefully she could stretch enough to reach her window. Loki was a pretty small kid.
When they reached the room, Kamala scrambled to shift around her stuff. "Sorry it's so small." Flinch. "I think... I should rest." She'd just have to have an eye on Loki. Thankfully, the houselord had not asked for her name when she rented out the room. That seemed standard in the neighborhood. And Kamala was pretty sure she had not yet signed any of her school stuff. Usually her name only appeared on exams. But maybe she put it on one of her homework sheets. "You could probably leave now. I'll be fine." There wasn't a lot of conviction in Kamala's voice. She suddenly felt very tired and indecisive.

Despite everything, they had done well. The couple had their money back. The girl thought that they had done well. Loki not so. Well would have been no shot people. Well would have been no broken window. As far as he was concerned, they had barely passed. What a day it was that Loki had higher standards of heroism than an actual hero, the boy thought to himself, removing his golden circlet to hold it in his hands and draw attention to it instead of his feet. Well, his attention. Nimble fingers continued to play with the circlet, fingers never being weak enough that it could be snatched from him.
His head shot up and his green eyes stared at the girl as she said that was why she took on this persona, Miss Marvel. What did she know about not being trusted? Her name did not hold decades, nay, centuries of evil tied to it. Did everyone assume that whatever she did would be to harm them? Did everyone always assume that she was lying? Did adults decide that they should rid the world of her evil because the only true protector she had was now gone? His eyes seemed almost wild for a second although they showed little to no sign of all the pain and guilt that the young boy lived with. Just some of the pain. There was wild disbelief in the green orbs as well and he held her gaze for a few seconds. His eyes seemed haunted even though he had only lived less than a year of existence. He blinked and the eyes went blank and cold as he turned back to playing with his circlet.
"I guess you do," He said softly but the words were hollow.
The boy made no more comments. He tried not to wallow in his own self pity but there was little time. And he prayed (if someone such of him could pray) that no one would have to live a life such as his. He still remembered those dreams he had before he remembered who he was. Those dreams... the horrors he had committed that would condemn him in any court of the land. He deserved all the punishment he got. He didn't blame the girl, this fake Miss Marvel, for thinking that people wouldn't trust her true self like they didn't trust him. She probably was horrified that that he was Loki. Maybe she was holding back from punching him out of the cab. That was a positive, wasn't it?
Now he had a sort of name and Loki paid the taxi driver before putting the circlet back on his head and turning to look at K. Perfect example of people not trusting him when they knew his name. He wondered if she even realised this. Well, what did it matter? Nothing was going to change. "Fifth floor, must be a good view up there, K," Loki said, his voice sounding cheerful as he stared up at the building. Well, it wasn't too shabby. Better than his first place although now he was at Avenger's Mansion which was a lot better than an abandoned house.
They got into the room, Loki being carried. He was surprised that she had even told him where she lived. Well, that was something for trust. He cast an eye around the place. It was barely as big as room back home. "It's not too bad," He said, looking around to see if there was anything he could find which would help with K's injury. Green eyes scanned over things quickly in one look. "You do need to rest. But keep your back elevated. We don't want blood rushing down and opening the wound," Loki was not going to admit to having no magic to a girl who didn't trust him. There was something to be said for keeping the mystery in a relationship. He smiled at this thought. It was a soft smile. "I should check on the wound as well. It appears to have missed your internet organs but the blood loss could be dangerous. The herbs I imbued it with should help and I think you don't want to end up dying due to lack of care," The boy said seriously. "Have any spare cloth?"

Loki didn't seem all that impressed when Kamala said she understood him. The teen opened her mouth to say something, but then closed it promptly. The two young heroes fell silent until Kamala's room was reached. As the hurt one rested in her bed, Loki commented on her apartment's view. "Yeah, kinda no. But it's convenient for sneaking out." Kamala had always been a pragmatic girl. She had also learned from her misadventures back home trying to get out of the family house unseen. Now house lords were not quite as dads, but still. Loki then gave instructions pertaining to her wound. Kamala pushed her body up with her right arm. Then, grabbing her pillow, she made herself comfortable resting against the wall opposite the desk. Loki's further comments were greeted with a friendly nod.
"There should be a few T-shirts there." Kamala was pointing at one of her cardboard boxes. She started feeling dizzy again. "I'm a bit low on clothes though, so go easy on them." The girl didn't have much spare anything at the moment. She was even considering using her shapeshifting powers to opt out of getting more clothes altogether. She felt hot. "You know, I wrote a fanfic about you." Eyes opened and closed slowly. "I think... it involved you and your brother." It was hard to remember. Kamala looked at Loki. He was a kid. Not what she had pictured when she wrote that short story. "Is it a good sign if I feel sleepy?" Kamala asked with a concerned frown on her face. At least she didn't have school tomorrow.

Loki chuckled as she said it wasn't very good for sneaking out of. It was always good to be practical, he knew. And sneaking was important. Green eyes examined around him, taking in all that there was. "Must say, I've never had a problem with sneaking. Not having a secret identity helps with that. Still, if you can go down stairs without being spotted, that shouldn't be too bad. I think I could manage it," He said cheerfully. This place didn't look too bad at all. She was doing well for a teenager who seemed to be living by herself. She actually owned stuff as far as the boy could tell. That was a step further than he had managed to get. He had just stolen a house (sort of...) then moved in with the heroes, mainly because of his brother and the fact that he was now good. Even if it was a hard concept.
Looking at the box which K said had clothes in it, Loki nodded. Good. He could use that. Then he would check her wound and if it came to it, he would use a shirt. "I'll only use them if I have no choice and even then, it will only be on shirt. Don't threat." He said, trying to calm her. Moving forwards, his fingers softly moved against the fabric, carefully unraveling his work so that he would be able to put it together with ease. It was good that the bullet went through as that meant that it didn't have to be fetched out but there were two wounds. He could see the red flesh and the blood that had seeped into the fabric. The wound looked clean though and although there was fresh blood it wasn't pouring out. "It's looking good so far," He said, trying it back into place, pulling to make sure that the bandage was tight.
At the revelation that there was a fanfic about him written by this girl, the boy smiled. He knew all about fanfics. He was good with the internet. He hadn't been aware that there were fanfics about him. He had been intending to explore the mythology section of stories and then he had ended up here. "About me and my brother?" He said softly, thinking of Thor. The one protector who he had. The brother he had to have a part in killing. His eyes watered and he blinked. "I've love to hear about it. I never got around to reading any fanfics about me. It's rather nice to think I have fans. Fans of sorts, anyway. I find it hard to believe that many people would be fans of..." His voice trailed off as he looked out the window in thought. "Well, me. I mean, black hair, skinny. Nothing like Thor," He shrugged, covering for his slight silence.
He was busy staring out the window when she commented that she was sleepy. The boy jumped and went straight to her side, taking off a glove once more to check her temperature. "No, sleepy isn't good. It suggests to much blood loss. Don't sleep." The boy said, worry in his voice. It was probably shocking that a boy was awake this late and working so well. "Do you have a kitchen? One of those would be useful for me." The boy said. "If I can cook you some red meat mixed with some herbs it should help keep your blood level up." He said. He thought he knew how to cook a steak. How hard could it be?

Kamala fell silent as Loki spoke about her shirts and tended her wound. She winced when the cloth was pulled tightly around her waist. It seemed she was going to be fine. "Thanks." Well at least she knew who to call if she got hurt again. And as a young superhero, that was bound to happen over and over. "Erm. Do you want to trade phone numbers?" She owed the kid something. Kamala's Ma would spank her to hell if she didn't come up with a gift within the week, ex-villain or not. The teen girl looked away. What would an Asgardian boy even want that she could afford?
The fanfic writer was pleasantly surprised when Loki seemed to be internet-literate. She giggled though when Kid Loki discounted his own popularity. "You're actually more popular than Thor, at least within the fanfic community." Sjhe bit her lip in an amused fashion, "Maybe that tells us something about us fanfic writers." Irgnoring the pain in her gut, the teen girl bent over to ruffle around with the kid's hair, "We all love your brooding personality and elegant look." Very carefully -the pain did register eventually- Kamala tilted back into a resting position. "You just wait until the fan community figures out your a kid now." She smiled, "I predict a lot of fanfics for the wondrous little Loki. Just promise you do good!"
Kamala fell more and more silent as the night progressed. Her sleepy eyes widened when she felt the hot touch of Loki's hand. "No sleep." But wasn't sleep good for healing? Loki said something about a kitchen. "Food?" He was asking a question. "My compartment is the one on the far right corner." She pointed outside her room, to where the common kitchen was. "The small and tidy one." Unlike most of the others. Even in a place of plenty like America, food was considered precious by Muslims. You didn't waste it, even if you could afford it.

The offer to trade phone numbers meant a lot to the boy. He didn't have anyone's number. Mostly because no one owned any such items back at home. Asgard. Well, the local mortals did but they weren't too keen on anyone from Asgard. They did bring problems, after all. "Phone numbers would be a good idea," He said, bringing out his Starkphone which he loved and used as frequently as possible. He loved being able to take pictures with it and surf the internet but he was yet to use the phone function. But there were so many things that he could explore on the phone. It barely mattered that he hadn't had the chance to actually call people yet. Besides, she could be useful. She could appear as others, it seemed and Loki suspected that could come in useful.
As he was told that within the fanfic community he was more popular than his brother, Loki gave a laugh and he looked rather delighted with the news. No matter who you were, it was nice to know that you had some fans. Although the harsh reality was that the him that they thought of would be the evil him. The Loki that burned. And although they shared the tricks and mischeif, Loki was not him. He was someone new. He was good now. He was a hero. "So, what does your one say about me?" He asked, curious as to what this girl had said about him before she had even met him. Obviously it was an interest for him. Who wouldn't be interested in their own little part of fame. He chuckled slightly as she ruffled his head and Loki considered taking down his hood and removing the circlet that he wore. But he was doing his job. This was no time to be casual.
"You have nothing to fear. I am on the path of good." He said, cheerfully. It was the honest truth and there was no way he could be as horrible as his former self. He would have to try terribly hard to be that evil.
As soon as she had told him, where her kitchen was, Loki went straight to looking at what she had. Quickly he put some water on the boil in a pan and poured some oil into another for cooking up some of the ground beef he had found. As soon as the water was boiling, he put the beans in and turned the temperature down. Putting in the ground beef, he stirred this, gently cooking the red meat. Adding in herbs, he looked around, finding other stuff. Like multiple people lived here. So he found some honey and left a bit of money for what he had taken. Adding a spoonful of honey to the meat and herbs, he mixed once more and added salt to the beans. Next he read the instructions on the rice. It wasn't like he cooked much but he was a fast learner.
As soon as the beans were ready, he drained them and added them to the meat before putting more water in the pan and cooking the rice as instructed. Then he took out a plate and drained the rice. Putting the rice on the plate, the child made it into a circle of rice, with a hollow center. Then he turned off the heating and then he poured the meat, herb and bean combination into the middle of the rice circle. It looks like the meat was walled in. The boy smiled at his work and quickly found some cutlery. Holding the plate in one hand and a knife, fork and napkin he handed it over to K. "Here, eat. I can clean up while you get some food into you." He told her, offering the food that he had made.

As the boy took out his device -a fancy Starkphone- Kamala started reciting her number. "Five six nine," She waited for a moment to make sure Loki noted that down. "two three five," Another pause. Kamala touched her wound before giving the last three digits. "five six six." It was a cheap payphone number. The girl had discovered that, while her credit card worked in the parallel universe, her phone number had not. But that may have been a good thing, as her original phone was on a family plan that could have been traced back to her folks at Jersey City. "Just message me once to make sure it goes through." The teen wasn't sure how tech-savy the Asgardian was. Kamala fiddled with her pockets. Her phone dropped onto the bed a few moments later. She tried to reach for it. Her arms were too short, but slowly extended, serpent-like, to retrieve the square piece of metal and plastic.
Kamala's cheeks flushed slightly when Loki asked about his fanfic. "Oh. Nothing much." But the little Asgardian was too adorable to ignore for very long. "You and Thor turned into pets. You were a cat, he was a dog." Mischievious Loki and loyal Thor: the perfect brotherly pair. "You got into all kinds of trouble. He usually saved your neck." It was a rather long fanfic, with over twenty chapters. "Eventually you save him once though. Then you figure out who to turn back to normal." And returned to your evil ways. Kamala didn't voice the last part aloud. She didn't want to upset the boy.
Loki left the room. Kamala still wasn't sure what to make of the situation. She really ought to alert the Avengers of this mini-Loki, just to make sure they knew of him. But it was hard to be suspicious of someone who made you food. Which was exactly why the teen sighed when Loki came back with a big plate of food. "Looks delicious!" She glanced at the cutlery in the cook's hand. "Are you not eating?" It felt weird eating alone. As she dug in Loki's food, Kamala brought up a question that was burning on mind. "Loki, I have a question for you." The food was hot, but really yummy. It also had the planned effect of waking Kamala up. Or maybe it was just the interesting discussion partner. "Why are you a kid now?"

Typing in the number quickly and with skilled fingers, he quickly started to send her a message before she even suggested that. He was lucky that his phone was of a good made and worked on Asgard - even when they got it back in the sky. Hello K! Me here. He texted before looking up at her. "Don't put me in as Loki. It wouldn't be good for either of us. Try Lucas or something like that." He suggested. If a villain found his name in there. "And if we both sign any texts K in your case or L in mine and delete them regularly, that should keep us safe." He suggested. He may appear paranoid. Maybe he was. But he didn't want any of them to get into trouble. "And only use the text function," He added. Better safe than sorry, after all. He hoped she thought the same.
Finding out about her fanfic was fun and he listened, true interest on his face as she spoke about her little pet verse that she had created. He was a cat. Loki smiled and looked at Ikol, wondering what the bird would think of that. He probably wouldn't be too impressed. Still, the sound of it was rather fun. It made him wish that he had gone and read some of the fanfics that existed about him. "Sounds like it's pretty much accurate. Thor always has to keep trouble away from me. Apparently I'm somewhat of a trouble magnet." He said, cheerful and appearing to not be concerned at all that trouble seemed to find him and it was his big brother who kept his neck from the noose. Although, to be fair, his former self had done enough evil that would convict him to the gallows. Even now he wouldn't deny it. He would just try to change. To be a better person.
Cooking had been fun and as quick as the boy could make it and when he came back out he was glad to see that she was still awake and hadn't fallen to a loss of iron and therefore blood. Carrying it over, he set down the plate by here so that she could eat and sat himself near by. "I didn't get shot, did I? This should help get more iron in your blood. Sleepiness could be a sign of a lack of iron or blood. And that can mean ill health at best." He told her as he leaned back. He was glad that he had studied some healing in those tomes they had back home. It was a useful art to learn, after all, heroes did have a habit of getting hurt more frequently than one would think.
Then she got onto the serious questions. Why was he a kid. The boy was silent for a while, considering the answer with a frown on his face. "Why can you stretch your limbs and such?" He asked softly, remembering the stretch she had used to get the phone. "Sometimes there's a reason and sometimes there isn't. But Loki burned at the siege of Asgard and yet here I stand," He answered. Loki knew why he was reborn, he knew why he fell. But he was not going to share such details with those that he did't need to. They were not his plans. He didn't need to share what his former self had set out. Those were his secrets.

"Will do." Kamala was quite grateful Loki suggested all these safeguards. I don't want to be the only paranoid one. The girl would never forgive herself if she endangered her family. The phone vibrated. Picking up the obsolete device, Kamala saved the sender -as instructed- under 'Lucas'. "Text only, gotcha!" Better safe than sorry indeed. "And I guess I won't be sending you links to fanfics of you via text." Kamala was prone to spamming people once she found something to obsess about. A string of Loki-related fanfics, coupled with a dodgy account labeled 'Lucas' could lead to trouble. The teenage girl put the phone down to explain her story of the two Asgardian brother-pets. Loki's reaction was pretty positive. She had expected something more reserved.
The food did a lot to lift Kamala's spirits. And Loki's explanation made sense, so she was probably her body heal up today's 'accident'. I'll have to make sure no one notices the wound at school. That was still in a few days, but the Muslim girl liked to think ahead. She had homework to do. The pain was going to slow her down with that. But then... "I guess I shouldn't do any heroing around for the week-end then?" At least that would give her time to prepare for school. She'd still at least mentally rehearse her routes. She hoped he wasn't going to tell her to stay put for any longer. She couldn't afford to stay bed-ridden on Monday.
Loki avoided her question. So it's a sensitive topic. Well Kamala wasn't known for her subtlety. "I don't know how I got those powers." A decisive thumb pointed at her chest, where the Ms Marvel symbol stood proud. "But I've figured out the why part myself." She was going to try to push kid Loki a bit and get some info out of him. "Loki burned, and you came back as a kid. Do you not know why, or do you just don't want to tell?" It was fine if he didn't. But if the kid truly didn't know why he was here, then the two of them ought to figure it out. "And who knows, maybe like me, the why is to become a hero."

K readily agreed to his plans of precaution. It wasn't surprising at all, truthfully. After all, the only name she had left him with was K while he had given her two names. Well, he had given her one and she then found out the truth. "If you do want to send my fanfics, then delete the message from your phone as soon as it is sent. And I'll delete it as soon as I've followed the link on my end. Or else just tell me the title and nothing else and follow the same deleting method." The boy suggested with a smile. He wanted to hear more about the fans views on his former self. It would be interesting, no one could deny that. "Infact, just the name of the fanfics would be a lot better." He said after a moment's thought. Someone could always be watching texts as they were being sent. There wasn't just the threat of someone stealing the phone (which was unlikely on his end at least).
Watching her eat for a few seconds, Loki then went off to play a game on his beloved Starkphone. He didn't want to bother her while she enjoyed the food that he had prepared for him. Looking up as she spoke about laying off the hero work for a few days and he gave a nod. "Longer if needs be. See how the wound is healing before you do anything. Even text me to check up on you if you're uncertain. And definitely do stretches before going off to save the world and so on. If the stretches hurt the wound or it feels strained, give it another few days and repeat," The young Asgardian suggested. The weekend seemed like such a small amount of time but he suspected that her powers might give her an increased healing rate judging from the way she could so easily manipulate his body. He wasn't going to ask, though. He preferred to find out by more sneaky means. It was much more fun! "Most people should wait a month before doing rigorous exercise, though," He said as an off hand comment.
The talk was moving to powers, which was rather useful for the green clad boy as that was what he was curious about. "I know why I came back. It's because I'm Loki. I know how and that is the same answer as why. I could be more technical with my answer but you wouldn't understand. But why I can back as a kid, that I do not know the answer to." He shrugged. Ikol may know the answer but he didn't feel like asking the magpie for the answer. After all, Ikol was Loki and Loki suspected that the only reason Ikol ever told the truth was because otherwise Loki may die. And that wouldn't do well for the bird. He stretched as he sat on the floor, positioned so he could look at K with little problem. Just a slight inclination of the head. Much better for him.
"I like to think that I've come back to start off a new chapter. But I'm not a baby, am I? I don't know if I was even reborn as one. But you are right, this body does best serve me for a new chapter and being a hero. I doubt I would be of much use as a babe. But why would the Norns be so kindly. Besides, I live because of Loki." Maybe he sounded too much like a riddle but he enjoyed word play and mischief in his words. Nothing could be simple for simplicity's sake.

Loki's answer wasn't reassuring. A month? Kamala shook her head. "I'll do the stretches on Monday." And go on a patrol anyway. Her homework charge was usually the lowest at the beginning of the week. "Wait: do you go to school?" The thought of Loki in a classroom setting sounded like a story right out of a fanfic. "Or did you keep all of your past knowledge?" The boy was still being cryptic about his origin. Remembering her discussion with Iron Fist, Kamala left the discussion at that. She didn't want to antagonize the boy Loki, and as she had said earlier, actions spoke louder than words. Especially for heroes.
"You don't have to stay." With the food inside her belly, Kamala felt solid again. "If you've got places to go or brothers to visit." The young Ms Marvel smiled. A thought crossed her mind as she waited for Loki's answer. He said Loki came back because he could. But he had directly come in the form of a boy. It sounded like the original trickster did whatever was in his power to survive. So if he could have come back to his former self, he would have. The transformation into a boy was maybe not intentional. Just the bets Loki could settle for. "Loki... who's body is this?" The question came out weird. "Was there a boy before there was a boy Loki?" It sounded almost like an accusation. Maybe it was. Maybe it wasn't.
After all, which kid didn't dream of becoming an Asgardian god?

Why do people always assume I'm lying?

Seeing that things were going so well, Loki was inclined to stay. He'd rather stay with a friendly person, even if she wouldn't tell him her name and leave him with only a letter. So even though she had finished her food, the friendly child stuck around. "Good. And don't forget them. It wouldn't do to go off and find that it just reopens your wounds, would it?" He asked, slightly too cheerfully for the subject but it couldn't be helped.
At the question that K gave, Loki blinked. School? He had considered it but he didn't really fit in with everybody else. He was different. Even the Midgardians knew that. To them he was another annoying Asgardian. To Asgardians, he was the much hated God of Mischief, Lies and Evil. So no, he didn't go to school. "I'm self educated. I read books if I have something I want to learn. Not even sure if I could get into a Midgardian school and in Asgard schooling is more what life chucks at you unless you want to learn to become a bard." The boy shrugged. He could talk to most beings, seeing as he used the all-tongue. He knew the Old Language, English and French. Or rather he had learned the first two and knew he could understand the other two but he didn't know why. Maybe the all-ear? He chuckled lightly at this thought.
"As for past knowledge. Well, I don't know what I knew but I do know a fair few things without being taught." He answered.
Green eyes looked down as she said that he didn't have to stay. This was much more fun than what he currently had. Which was his former self for company in an abandoned house. True he got a couple of floors to himself but really, that was it. This was a nicer place to be. "I should probably keep an eye on you for a while. Make sure nothing bad happens. My night is open," The boy said, neglecting to say that he wanted to stay. In fact, his tone made the whole thing sound much more business like rather than a boy wanting to stay with his new friend.
When K asked who's body he had, Loki answered immediately and with some confusion in him. "Mine." As he gave this answer she spoke, clarifying herself. The child sighed. It was not too great having to think back then. "I don't know, I've never really thought about it. I remember before Thor found me, but I didn't know how long I had been like that. A day, a month, a season, longer? But it was no true existence. Anything would have been better than that." He said, neglecting to mentioned the terrible dreams that he had suffered, back when he was on the streets of France for no one knew how long.
"What about you and the disguise you take when your out world saving? Why not be yourself?" He asked, turning the questions towards her. He wanted it to be less like an interrogation.
((Kamala does take a different form for being a super hero? Doesn't she? I just want to check. If not, then I'll change the last few sentences, just PM me. ^^ ))

"I guess it wouldn't." Kamala sighed. She still couldn't afford to stay in bed after Monday. Her mind was put off from gloomier thoughts by Loki's interesting answer on schooling. She chuckled. "So I guess no grades in Asgard?" The whole knowledge without a past part was creepy, however. The teenage girl just looked down at her bed sheet. What was it like to have these pieces of information that came from who knew where? As Loki declared he was going to stay here to watch over her, Kamala bent over and gave him a big hug. She winced a bit but otherwise the motion was one of warmth and friendship. "Thanks." Loki may have sounded all business-like, but the teenage hero didn't care. They had just stopped a robbery together, after all! Carefully, Kamala disentangled and returned to her resting position, back propped up against her pillow.
Loki's answer to the origin of his new body was reassuring, if a bit scary. Anything would be better than that? It sounded almost like a Faustian gamble. "So your big brother found you. Where was that, Asgard or here?" What was Asgard like? Could Midgardians like her visit? There were so many questions, but Kamala wasn't sure if she was allowed to ask them. Loki then distracted her mind with a serious question of his own. "Myself?" Well going as Kamala was out of the question. "Like, masked me, but not Ms Marvel me?" Part of it was extra protection for her family, of course. But that wasn't the full story. And Loki had been surprisingly open so far. "It happened... by accident at first." Ms Marvel, her idol, had appeared in a weird dream. "Being a Ms Marvel fan, it just made sense to save people in that shape." But that was really just for her very first hero adventure. "But even after the novelty wore off... well then I felt like it was safer. It avoids having to explain stuff. Protects my family and stuff." She knew it wasn't the best of answers.

Loki gave a single nod in response to her agreeing that opening the wounds would not be a good idea. Loki felt like he could use a hero on his side. With the ability to defend both herself and himself if it came to it. If she was injured then that would not do. Plus it wouldn't be very nice for her. "Just be careful," He told her, aware that heroes loved to rush into things. "Fighting is not the only way to save others. It's certainly the most dangerous."He pointed out, hoping to be helpful. K should remember that he had tried talking to those burglars first. And that it had been working. With her apparently ability to change shapes, she should find it easy to talk down others. Loki didn't mention it though. Although she was a friend it was best to play the cards safe. She evidently didn't trust him with her name and his thought could be used to great effect. He hoped she had already considered doing that and disregarded it. But it didn't seem likely.
Education was definitely a safer topic and Loki smiled and nodded. You could certainly say that it was something like that. "Yep! No grades. Although you could say that you get judged on how well you are living. Someone like Thor is popular, well loved, a protector and warrior. So he's got top grades. Gets all the perks, roasted meats, honeyed mead and so on. It's just a different system," He answered. "I like to think that my reward is being more knowledgeable." He added, in case she wanted to find out about where he was on the scale. He was actually rather low down considering that his brother was the only one who liked him and the Warriors Three only protected him because of oath. It wasn't too bad a life, he supposed. He had a room, after all, some reluctant protectors and could gamble to get cold so he could buy things like a Starkphone. It was a lot more than what some people had. K seemed to be living by herself and he had no idea what her life was back home. It was hard not to think of his life negatively, though.
Accepting the hug, at first Loki seemed a bit awkward with it but then he relaxed and gave her a small hug back with a pat or two on the back. He honestly didn't understand why it had brought out such a reaction but he just went along with it. At least she seemed pleased he was staying. That had to be something.
"Here," He answered her question about where he had been found. "Well, not here here so to speak. Here as in Midgard, more specifically Paris. What Thor was doing there, I have no idea. I rather like the idea that he was going cloth shopping. After all, armour is rather last century," The boy said, turning his past into a rather amusing story rather than the full truth. Loki remembered he had been desperate to get away from the strange man. Scared of him even. But he couldn't escape. And now he had this. His better life. And it was better. He had a brother. He had met Leah.
Having turned the questioning towards K, Loki listened with interest to what she had to say. So it was idolosing her hero. He could understand that. Thor was his hero. And the boy remembered that he would have risked the nine realms on what Thor would do. It was something that he could understand. Of course, he couldn't really understand the need for no one to recognise him. He had the whole making sure that no one gave away his plans but he imaged that was a bit different. "I've never had to use a mask or anything like that. I've always thought that it seems rather fun." He smiled, looking just like any young boy who wanted to be a superhero. "So, any reason why you are a Ms Marvel fan?" He asked, curiously. It would keep up the conversation and it would be interesting to know how favourite heroes were chosen.
