Me and all my friends are poets of the deed, we're exactly what this country needs. We scratch until we're drunk we drunk until we bleed...we are what we believe. She was meant to be coming home, that was the part of this that hurt the most...Clint was in danger and she couldn't get to him. Since her arrival in said strange world she'd manage to charge her phone by standing around the train station in her purple onsie and asking some business guy. He'd taken pity on her but...she had no signal. She had no reception at all. Nothing. There was no way to get ahold of him, he was in another universe all together. How were you meant to get to someone though that brick wall?
In the few hours she had been here Kate managed to get ahold of her bearings. Charging her phone had been a waste of time, what has proven more useful was stealing a newspaper and map from a roadside stall and she had managed to retreat up to a roof top to read them in peace and quiet. She was trying to grab her bearings, see if there were Avengers here, someone that she could go to for help that would believe the situation that she as in.
Part of Kate hoped that it has been America at fault for this whole thing because it was very her style but her gut said something else. Plus if it was Americas fault she would have been here by now like she would leave a fellow Young Avenger stuck somewhere on her own right? Dragging a hand down her face she sighed and sat down on the roof. She had no idea what to do, what her next steps were going to be...nothing. The wind tugged gently at her hair, all the worries just sat on the air and hung there like a bad smell that she wasn't going to be able to get rid of. The city was beautiful, she liked watching it from up here, she could see red and white lights off into the distance in neat rows moving and stopping again. Patterns in traffic. The roads looked like arteries carrying red blood cells to a beating heart in down town Manhattan. It was all rather oddly beautiful in a very strange way.
Kate let out a sigh that she had been holding. Ran a hand though her hair and shook her head. "This looks pretty bad Katie-Kate."

Being here was problematic. Hey, he was meant to be saving the realms back home from the Serpent. But he couldn't just snap his fingers and get home. That wasn't within his power. Loki sighed, white hood pulled over his head as he sat on the rooftop, trying to see what he could find out on his Starkphone. Local news. Nothing else. Ikol had been more helpful than this. Green eyes looked up, scanning the horizon. He had sent Ikol off to try and find any extra useful information. Especially to keep an eye out for Thor. Loki doubted he would be safe without his big brother. Just like home. Still, if he were to be positive, at least there were likely to be less people here who would try to kill him. After all, it was only one Midgardian city as apposed to nine realms.
"Hurry up, Ikol," He muttered, standing up and pacing. He needed to get the low down as quickly as possible. He needed to make allies - to know which former allies were around and what he might need to do to make sure that they didn't become threats. To know if there was any chance of getting allies who would be on his side. Which he doubted.
Finally the familiar black and white shape came into view and Loki offered his arm out to the bird who landed on his arm, turning his head to regard him with beedy black eyes that seemed to sparkle green. "Ikol, what have you to tell me?" Loki asked the bird who seemed to be taking his time in answering. "There's no sign of your brother, as I suspected. I can't see any sign of Leah either. Or Mephisto, Hela, Surtur, the Dis folk, the Serpent, the Tongue... In short, we seem relatively safe," He answered and Loki frowned. "Relatively?" He asked, giving the bird a stern look. "What are you not telling me? "There's a young woman, one of champions of Midgard," He finally admitted.
"Hm..." Loki frowned, considering this. An alliance with a hero of Midgard would be good. Considering the lack of other heroes and villains, no doubt she might be more willing to listen to him and not try and throw him to rot in some cell. "Let's risk it," He said, after barely any time thinking, jumping forwards and startling Ikol off his arm. "What?" He exclaimed and Loki sighed. "Lead the way evil me. And preferably a path that doesn't require wings,"
So Ikol hesitantly lead the way, with Loki following. The path had lead to another roof which fortunately hadn't been too hard to get to for the young god of mischief. There he saw the young woman Ikol had mentioned, probably around twenty if he were to hazard a guess. Well, here goes nothing. He came up from behind, removing his hood, smile on his face. "Hello, hope I haven't interrupted some moody roof top brooding!"

Me and all my friends are poets of the deed, we're exactly what this country needs. We scratch until we're drunk we drunk until we bleed...we are what we believe. Some help couldn't have come any sooner, to be honest Kate was at a loss at what to do and she really didn't know what her next step was. There was nothing in the paper screaming headlines about the Avengers...she had no idea if they were here in this world or not. Kate guessed they were though...every world had Avengers in it...that was kinda the theme that she had come across so far so they had to be out there somewhere...Kate just had to find them and explain the whole situation and that would be that and then she would be on her way home. Right? After all that was how this kinda situation went right? Then again in the other universe she had been to they hadn't been all that useful.
A voice startled her, she recognised it almost instantly, Kate turned around fast, her hair splayed out as she did so and then her eyes fell on what looked like a little human. Kate knew better than that. Loki. Holy crap. Her heart skipped a beat, her jaw dropped...she knew he could move between worlds with his magic when it was at full strength but she wasn't expecting him to show up here of all places. "Loki?" She asked sounding a little shocked at his sudden appreciation. "Holy shit am I happy to see you and your punchable face!" Kate almost yelled as she took a few steps forward and sat her hands on his shoulders as if she was trying to check that he was real because it was a little hard to believe right now.
Where he had been since the Young Avengers took their separate ways she didn't know. The Dazzler gig on the moon thing had been pretty cool and the last time she had seen most of the Young Avengers had been her birthday party slash New Years Eve...and even then parts of that night were a little um...sketchy at best. Kate blamed the vast quantities of alcohol that had been consumed by people - both of age and not.
"I don't brood thank you very much, I was thinking, totally different thing thanks very much!" She took her hands back and smiled, it was a little sad, at least now he was here...there would be someone with more experience in all of this than she did but at the end of the day she knew to take everything Loki said with a pinch of salt. He wasn't the most trust worthy person on the planet but hadn't got them all killed last time around and the world hadn't ended but it was okay. As long as she had her wits about this it would be okay!
"Have you seen America around, I don't know...I thought all of this had something to do with her but...apparently she's nowhere to be found..." That wasn't a good thing, where there were multiverse travels there was Miss America Chavez. Her absence meant something sinister was going on rather than a harmless mistake. "I hope this isn't one of those world is ending things...I totally don't have enough arrows for that."

She knew his name. She recognised him. And he wasn't getting punched. Yet. Well, that was a good start, wasn't it? And he had no idea who she was. Eyes flickered to Ikol who was flying overhead. "Don't look at me," He said, going to sit at the edge of the building and look down at the people walking below them. Well, it seemed he was on his own for this. Good thing he was good at this. The question was whether he should pretend that he knew her or to admit the truth now. There were advantages to both but he had to figure out which path to go along. "Good to see you too," He replied, a comment that implied that he knew her. But not explicitly. Because, to be honest, it was good to see someone who wasn't trying to kill him.
Still, this was rather weird. She had come straight to him, placed hands on his shoulders and all that. Was there some ulterior motive? His green eyes scanned her face, seeing none but he took a step backwards, all the same. Better safe than sorry and seeing as he didn't have anything but his words to protect him, it was always best to remain cautious.
He gave a shrug as she corrected him on the fact that she was thinking, not brooding. "Good for you, keep positive, right?" He said, sounding cheerful and unbothered by this situation. It took a lot more to shake the trickster. Besides, he wasn't alone. He had Ikol who knew a lot more than he did. It was kind of useful in the long run. "How long have you been taking in the sights, then?" He asked. He needed to build up a picture of what was going on. And he needed allies, desperately. This woman seemed cool with him - a good start. He wanted to keep it this way.
Although it wasn't going to be too easy to keep up the guise that he did know her, considering this America person she was talking about.
"Not been here too long myself. Not even had a chance to look around," He lied. He had sent Ikol to do the looking. He had just stayed put. Safer that way. At least initially. The child let out a heavier breath, green eyes scanning the horizon as she said that she hoped it wasn't one of those end of the worlds sort of things. He had just come from one.
"It's not an end of the world. Not yet at least. I would know," He said, eyes settling on Ikol. His former self had caused a few of those himself. If Ikol could be trusted, this was something to do with the infinity gems. And with that he knew about those, if someone wanted them dead, they would be dead. If someone wanted the world ended, it would be crumbling around them. No. This was something else. A game... Was someone toying with them? His eyes returned to this woman. She knew him and just he hadn't met her. What did that have to say? Different worlds? Different times? He pressed his lips together. There was nothing concrete to go on. Not yet.

Me and all my friends are poets of the deed, we're exactly what this country needs. We scratch until we're drunk we drunk until we bleed...we are what we believe. Kate visibly relaxed. Smiled. She felt a little safer actually with Loki around, it was a strange relationship that he had in her world with the Young Avengers and sure he was part of the team and while people would have thought it strange she couldn't help but wonder what it was he thought his place in the team was. To Kate he was kinda like the little brother that she had never had. Yes he was older than them all but he was so small, looked so young that it gave Kate the urge to just put her arm around him and look after him. "What else is there to do but stay positive? We could cry about it all we want isn't going to get us anywhere." She just shrugged her shoulders and looked back out to the skyline before wondering over to him and putting an around around Lokis shoulders in an almost sisterly way before directing his attention to the newspaper that had been taken apart and pinned down to the roof top with small rocks that she had found acting as paperweights. The map was in the middle of it all, she'd drawn over it with the pen she had in her quiver.
"A while...I've been researching." She clarified, Kate had been doing a lot more than just watching the world. She was gathering information...she was trying to make sense of the world that they had been thrown into. "So...I got a hold of a couple of things...there's no real mention of Avengers in the newspaper which is a little...weird...I mean what if they don't have Avengers or heroes here? What are we doing to do?" Kate let the question go though, she would cross that bridge when she got to it but there was something more pressing. "The cities layout is almost identical, little bits here and there a little shifted..." It was a strange world, so alike but it was as if everything had been picked up and moved five inches to the left and while everything was there in the right order it was almost not in the right place. It was hard to put your finger on really, to find a way to describe the strange discomfort it all brought.
She kept her arm around his shoulder, gave him a small sideways hug before letting go. They were left aimless in wonder with outdated maps and information to navigate a universe they barely knew. It all kept falling back to the fact that Kate had no idea what to do. She was meant to be a leader, she was the leader of the Young Avengers and now she had a team member here the choices she made also affected him. She had to make the right ones. She took a deep breath she mused over his statement for a moment. It wasn't the end of the world. "Maybe not this one but what about the others?" Kate knew more about the multi-verse than she ever really wanted to. One would could end and the rest would go on as if nothing had happened. They would be forgotten and cast aside by the world around them. Their world could be gone and this one would never know.
Kate stood there for a moment, one hand on her hip the other went to her quiver where she spun and arrow around in thought her eyes falling on the information she had gathered on the floor. "Well...that begs the question...if America and the others arn't here...then where the hell is the rest of the team?" He should have known by know after the lengths they had gone to get Tommy and Teddy back that a universe between them was nothing. "I mean...the Young Avengers would be looking for us. There's no way they'd just miss this action."

This woman was safe. She had relaxed around him, he could tell that and with that little sign, Loki himself relaxed. This wasn't a trick, he could tell that much. This female hero, whoever she was, trusted him. Somewhat at least. It was a strange feeling but he didn't let it get to his head. Right, so some other version of him, whether another universe or the future, had changed the general distrust and hatred of him. It would be a good idea not to break that trust. He needed allies. He could lie and dance to keep her on his side. If he could do it to Mephisto, this woman would be no problem. Although it would be useful to find out her name. Maybe he could get Ikol to find out.
Giving a nod at her question, Loki offered a smile. "Indeed. And as the heroes, we're going to have to be the ones to lead the way," He added, giving a casual shrug. That he could manage. In fact, he wanted to find a way back. He needed to save the realms. Even with the cost that they would have to pay. This was only a small relief. His stomach almost churned nervously as he entertained the thought that he might get back to his own world a few hours late. Everything could be lost to the Serpent by that time. If that did happen, he didn't know how easy it might be to get Hela to send him back in time to save everything.
While he was thinking this, an arm went over his shoulder and Loki resisted to urge to tense and move away. This person was not like the others who would strangle him. He supposed he should be thankful to whichever version of him had managed to get someone to trust him. The God of Lies. A small wriggle of guilt threatened to get to him as the woman started to share her knowledge so freely. She wasn't even aware that he was lying to her. Well, sort of lying. Pretending he was the Loki she knew. But it was for the best. She was comforted with having him here and he had someone he could rely on.
No mention of the Avengers? He couldn't decide whether that was good or bad. After all, he could use their help but they ight be ore inclined to a spot of Loki football - which seemed to be such a popular sport. "If there's no Avengers here it makes no difference. Just because they don't exist doesn't mean we need to change, does it?" He asked, wondering what she expected him to be like and what would be normal. So far she hadn't called him out. That was good. He examined the map, eyes carefully going over everything. "We need to set up a base," He finally decided, watching as Ikol hoped over to examine the map. "Somewhere safe were we can sleep and avoid public attention," He continues. It was more vital for him to get somewhere to avoid public attention, but she didn't know that.
Ikol tapped his beak to the map, pointing at a building. "The houses here are abandoned but not run down." He said and Loki pointed to the area. "Like there. I believe we might be able to get hold of a house that we could use. Of course, one of us would probably had to stay to protect the property but it's a start," He suggested. Having somewhere safe to sleep would be good and Ikol nodded, seeming to approve of the suggestion that Loki had put forwards.
Feeling the sideways hug, Loki offered a smile in return, uncertain how he from somewhere else had managed to get someone to trust him this much. Then her words froze him, reminding the young trickster of his home. His own world so close to destruction. Either his father would destroy Midgard, or the Serpent. Heaven, Hel and Earth all seemed to depend on him. And yet he was here. "Well they've all got someone to protect them, don't they." He said, feeling the weight upon him. Maybe Leah would be able to save his world. But Thor was going to die either way. He didn't want to think about it.
At the mention of America, others and a team, Loki's attention went further still. So he was part of a team of heroes. Interesting. Useful as well. Young Avengers. He almost smiled at that, wondering what his brother would think about that. To be fair, Loki did want to be like Thor now that he had a chance to build his own life. "This is powerful stuff. I think the infinity gems might be involved. It has got that touch to it and if the gems are involved, then it's possible that someone has the gauntlet. And that someone has done this. It's no simple matter." He replied, wondering if he would end up meeting more of this team that he was supposedly on.

Me and all my friends are poets of the deed, we're exactly what this country needs. We scratch until we're drunk we drunk until we bleed...we are what we believe. They had to lead the way? Oh god that was not the answer that Kate wanted, she wanted to crawl under a rock and hide but this was no time for personal wishes and running away wasn't going to make anything stop. They had to deal with it. had to move on. Had to suck it up and get on with it and that was just what Kate was going to do. If there were no Avengers then they were going to have to step up...after all that was why the Avengers Failsafe was created any way wasn't it? That was the whole reason behind it. Kate had to step up to the mark sometimes and become a part of the main roaster, one day her Avengers would be all that was left and right now that might be the horrible reality.
Oh no she shouldn't have let that thought cross her mind.
As usual Loki had his wits about him and a plan ready, a base sounded like a good idea, she nodded her head softly. That sounded about right actually. Earth would have someone to protect her. She really didn't know who that was...that worried her...what worried her more was Clint. Was he okay? Did he escape the attempt on his life that Madam Masque had ordered? She swallowed the lump in her throat and went back to the conversation at hand, which was prioritising their plan. He was right again...this was powerful magic to pull this off. It was utterly insane kind of power...and with that you could have crushed everyone. You could have just ended the world in the blink of an eye but no...here they were, all alive and completely fine but trapped in another land. They were both on the same page...Kate couldn't help but feel a little like a rat suck in a maze being watched by researchers.
"The infinity gems?" Kate asked raising an eyebrow. "I thought they had been scattered, separated and locked up so no one could get ahold of them?" Well that was the last that she had heard. "Infinity gems are the last thing we need. You realise if someone has them they could blink us out of existence?"
that life, life is too short to live without poetry if you've got soul show it to me.

There was no response to his words about taking the lead and Loki looked over to her, wondering what had caused the silence. Perhaps his words hadn't been as comforting or as helpful as he had thought. Maybe she missed someone. Like he missed his brother. The boy looked down, wondering what life this woman had back where she came from. He knew barely anything about her and yet she knew him well enough to not question who he was. Clearly the Loki she knew was similar to him. "It'll be fine. The whole world protecting is what we do," He said, aware of the irony that came from the fact that he had spent a life time trying to destroy it.
At the nod about the base, Loki gave a grin and pointed forwards, taking a dramatic pose as he stood. "Then onwards we shall travel, to what shall be our most awesome and secret base. I think we should name it Loki's Ville, you know," He said, managing to keep his tone light as he spoke - unbothered by all of this. Hey, it was what he did. Make plans quickly as everything else went tumbling. At least he was alive. And it was better than that because he had someone who wouldn't stab him in the back. Things were looking up for the trickster.
But for how long, he wondered, eyes becoming slightly hesitant as he stared out across the roof tops, moving out of his dramatic pose and staring ahead. No doubt the difficulties would present themselves soon enough. He was tempted to talk to Ikol but he doubted now was a good time to converse with his evil self.
The woman asked her question and Loki nodded. Ikol had explained it to him as soon as they had turned up. But Loki had clued in fast. "Yes, they could. But they haven't. So either they are toying with us, they are new with the gems, we aren't the target for this or things are going to get worse," He said, wondering what he would do in such a situation. He really should have asked Ikol this earlier. "If this was me, no doubt it would be toying. But I'm going to guess that it's someone more powerful and serious. We've just been sucked into this." After all, he knew that they didn't come from the same place. Therefor, it couldn't be targeting the Young Avengers. It was something else.
"Let's just be thankful that we are alive and well. And let's try to keep it that way," He suggested, going over to the papers. "We'll probably want to take these and set them up in our base. It a fair distance I think. And the more time we can set up there, the better." He said, his voice almost turning flat. Thinking about who was the target reminded him that his brother was always running head long into things, always the centre of attention and fighting for good. He hoped that whatever universe the creator of this came from, it wasn't harming Thor.

Me and all my friends are poets of the deed, we're exactly what this country needs. We scratch until we're drunk we drunk until we bleed...we are what we believe.
Loki managed to bring a smile, Kate laughed a little...world protecting was kinda what they did. It was their job. It was why most of them got up in the morning. "Too true." She answered before she kicked the stones aside and picked up the map. Carefully she folded it and then rolled it up into a tight roll and slipped it into one of the tubes on her hip quiver. The map they could keep, they didn't need the newspapers and Kate set about roughly gathering them up and kicking the stones around to make it look like they hadn't been here. Kate scrunched it up into a large ball and then wedged it down the side of two cooling vents. Well...it would biodegrade!
"Loki's Vile?" Kate raised an eyebrow, shot him her 'you better be kidding' look before shaking her head. "Aw hell no." Last time they had named something after him the world had ended...well worlds, well the last time really they had trusted Loki it had been a grey area of unknown lies and the team not sure if he had been on their side or not. Then again. Everything had worked out fine and right now he was the only person around that Kate had met.
She didn't much have a choice.
As the turned, heading for the fire escape down to the bottom of the building she mused over Loki's theory for a moment. Either they were playing games or they didn't know how to work the gems properly. Both were good...but what point were the gems with the universe destroyed? "What good are they without a world to have them in? It serves no purpose to destroy everything." It was like a virus, what was the point of killing the host, it meant you died along with it. You needed the host to be alive. It was counter productive. Power was much like a virus. "In order to hold power, to hold some kind of influence whoever has the gems needs this place alive...they need leverage and something to have power over. What good is a king without a kingdom?" If anyone should understand that analogy it should be Loki.
So therefore by default they must be playing a game with them, exactly what their end was Kate didn't know and she was pretty sure that they weren't going to find that out until they got there and by then it was going to be too late. Of course Loki always managed to state the obvious silver lining. Ok they were in a strange world with a half full New York City that currently had no cell service and in basically what was a lab rat maze but hey they were currently alive. Great silver lining.
"We'll need to find somewhere with food etc..." Kate pointed out going for the essentials, shelter, food and water. The rest could come tomorrow. "All the cell phone towers are down, there's just static on the radio and the TV...so I'm guessing none of the ATMs are going to be working either..." fucking great. What was the point of having a several figure trust fund when you couldn't take any of the money out of the bank? Perfect. "Come on, it's gonna get mega cold soon...it's still technically winter after all."
that life, life is too short to live without poetry if you've got soul show it to me.

Green eyes brightened ten fold as the woman smiled and laughed. Such a response was something that no one ever was relaxed enough around him to do. It was pleasant. Usually it was only himself who appreciated his words. It was fun to be this light and carefree. Only that way was on the outside. He had to be careful to continue to pretend that he knew her. Knew who this team was. That was going to be difficult. What would happen if the facade had to be dropped? Or if she figured it out.
Giving a soft laugh at her response to his name, the trickster rolled his eyes. "It's a perfectly brilliant name. We could have Loki Heim though if that's more to your taste," He smirked. "Don't tell me you want to name it after yourself?" He added a few seconds later, keeping his tone light. He hoped with his casual remark she might give her name in return, building up some fun retort of what she would name it if she were to be the patron of sorts. "Besides, I have located our future base of awesomeness." He added, looking delighted that they would have a place to be living at.
Following down the woman down the fire escape, he listened to her words. Any new thoughts would be welcome. He glanced towards Ikol who was flying just before them. He wondered how fortunate he was that he didn't have to deal with this alone. He closed his eyes at the mention of a king without a kingdom. No doubt a reference to what he was before. Did that mean the Loki she knew was more like how he had used to be? Or did he come from a similar background? He hoped it was the later. "Life can come from destruction and we're not the only universe. But our best bet is that they are toying with someone," He said, reaffirming his point and casting a glance at Ikol but the bird ignored him. "But if they wanted to lead, then we would know about it. Who ever is behind this has reasons beyond simply having a kingdom to rule," Could it be one of his enemies trying to separate him from those he needed to save? That would be terribly self-centered to think. Besides, there was this woman from another world. This was big.
At the mention of food, the trickster nodded immediately thinking about what he might be able to do to feed himself and this woman. "We could steal food," He mused, before hastily adding "If it comes to it," Being a hero, he supposed he was meant to be away from stealing but it was useful at times. Especially when one needed money. "I know a few card tricks which might be able to get us a few coins. I know how to get a crowd. And now to convince them to spend a bit of money on a game," He said, a small grin on his face at this. He was also a fair gambler but he suspected that this might be up there with stealing. Mortals did have problems with such trickery.
Hearing that they should hurry on, he gave a nod and pulled his hood back over his face. If they were going to have to go through public, he might as well keep his head covered and down. "Do you need me to lead the way?" He asked, turning to look at the woman. Of course, if he were to lead the way, he would just end up following Ikol to the abandoned house.

Kate couldn't help but roll her eyes, "No. No way are we calling this place anything after you....your ego couldn't cope with it, plus its meant to be a super secret hide out we can't name with with our names! People would catch on! " She pointed out.
Truth was none of their conversations had ever been really been that deep, it had been more about what to do, what their next steps always was...after all they had been running though the multiverse and they had been trying to save the universe there hadn't been time for this kind of talk. Kate smiled though, she laughed a little as well. ”Well you know what they say right? The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation.” She quoted...she couldn't remember where she had heard it but it had always stuck with her for some reason.
Climbing down the fire escape they almost came to consensus, someone was playing a game with someone, this was the mind fuck stuff that bad guys brought out when they had little interest in power or ruling over...they just wanted to destroy and you could blow up buildings all you wanted something else would take its place. Real estate didn't last long in this city...breaking a person however was different. A broken person remembered it forever and sure they could put themselves back together but you were always going to be back together differently. You couldn't just throw up a new person like a building leaving no trace of the destruction behind. Those scars were for life and maybe that was what was so frightening about it.
As they reached the bottom she jumped the space between the platform and the ground landing crouched before looking up at Loki and shaking her head, “The last thing people are going to be worrying about is us stealing some food...the entire city just got transported across universes, the TV is pretty much out as are the radio, the ATMs and internet isn't working and I don't know how long the utilities will hold out either with us off the grid. People are freaking out, the last thing thats going to happen is them stopping for card tricks on the street.”
The city was in chaos. It was utter panic and people were terrified. The looting and the violence hadn't started yet, people were with their families in fear and hopefully some Avengers showing up would help take the edge of it all...well she hoped. First of all they had to survive the night without anything going down. “No I'm good. I know the way...I've lived here for 21 years Loki I know my way around.” she nodded her head down the street, her bow on her back and quiver against her hip. Well hopefully walking down the street would at least put anyone at ease they met. If there was anyone out. “There will be a store on the way there....come on kiddo.”
that life, life is too short to live without poetry if you've got soul show it to me.

Rolling his eyes at her words, he gave a soft laugh at them, not in a mean way but keeping his tone as friendly as he could. "My ego can always use some feeding. I fear that it's metaphorical stomach is a bottomless pit." He said, putting some fake sorrow into his voice as well as a touch of drama. Thinking on the subject of a name, he came up with another option in three seconds. "Well, if we won't call it by either of our names, even among ourselves, then what about The Secret Ultimate Base. Or for short, The SUB." He offered. This was a lot of fun, despite the seriousness of the situation. He had a friend and a teammate! This was a big leap forwards compared to what he usually had.
Happy to have a friend, he tried not to think about this too much. It was never good to over analyse, especially when it came to tricking someone. This needed to be light and natural yet avoid any slip ups. Something that the young trickster was sure that he could manage. After all, he had maintained the appearance of his old self in the face of such threats as Mephisto and the tongue of the Serpent. "Have you heard of the creation of Midgard? That didn't exactly come without a war of sorts." He said lightly. Mind you, there world was always a lot more violent and war filled.
Following the woman down the fire escape, Loki watched as Ikol flew ahead and landed on a parked car not too far away from the bottom of the escape that they now descended. He wondered what was going on in the bird's head. Whether his evil self, inside the magpie's form knew more than he was letting on or had any plans. He didn't intend to question Ikol. The bird more although useful rarely gave him answers that he wanted to hear.
Taking to the ground as well, he smirked as she said that they wouldn't have any problem stealing a few bts and bobs. Well, that certainly was going to be to their advantage. "Well if that's the case, I may also find a place where I might be able to gamble some money. I hear it becomes rather addictive," He said, tone slightly jovial as they stepped out into the city where everything was complete chaos. "Just give people about a week or two to calm down, assuming we can't sort everything out before that," He added, green eyes watching the people, judging the situation. There wasn't any pillaging going on yet - at least not the obvious sort.
Eyes returned to the woman as she said that she knew the way and he gave a nod of his head. To be fair, that was more than himself. He would have just have gotten Ikol to lead the way for him. The trickster's gaze returned to the panicking people and he wondered if he should try to offer them support like his brother no doubt would. But he didn't have the fame and trust. It was the woman's words that shook him from these thoughts and he nodded. "Right. Onwards the two heroes went; the archer and the little trickster, for they had much to do before sunset, with the looting that they must partake in and their plans to build a base of secret awesomeness!" He said dramatically to keep the tone light as he set off besides her, making sure that his words were soft enough that only she would hear. No point announcing that they would do some looting to the mortals.

Me and all my friends are poets of the deed, we're exactly what this country needs. We scratch until we're drunk we drunk until we bleed...we are what we believe. “Metaphorical? Loki you are a bottomless pit.” Kate replied raising an eyebrow at him...well that was all judging from the amazing number of pancakes that boy could put away in one sitting. For someone so small he really could put eat a lot. Kate was almost jealous. “The Sub? Dude you make us sound like a sandwich shop, jeez you're just obsessed with food. Can you still move between dimensions? I could really have some of that Korean food we had in that place...that was really great.” Her stomach rumbled, Kate wanted it. She wanted it right now. God damn stupid end of the world crap.
She was still smiling when she shot him a sideways glance, rolled her eyes a little, in some ways he never changed he was still full of trickery but at least now it was aimed in another direction and not destroying the earth or trying to enslave everyone. “No gambling Loki. This is serious.” Deep down she knew he was just trying to help, he was trying to find a joke her could tell or something funny that would lighten the mood because that was normally what Loki did in times of tension but she wasn't really in the mood for it.
“Right now we don't have time to let people calm down.” There was more of a sense of urgency in her voice now. “We need to find somewhere to hide out the night and then tomorrow we help get this city back up and running, the phone lines are down people will be trying to call emergency services and not getting though, we have to make sure the hospitals and emergency services are running. Then we have to consider the power and the water. New York City imports power and water from up-state depending how cut off we are we might have lost that as well.” Her mind was firmly on the task of getting this city back into a liveable state.
His narration of their trip however did make her laugh, she shook her head as she glanced up at the sky and smiled. “You make our night sound like some D and D adventure you know.” Maybe making it sound a little less real helped, as if they weren't actually the ones that were going to have to deal with it all. Kate had always thought that was why they put on costumes, it was a way of separating themselves from everything. A way of segregating the horrors they saw as Avengers from their real lives and families. Like turning off your phone when you left the office only much more difficult.
“And we're not looting, we'll borrow a couple of things and I'll put some money in the till alright. Still technically not theft.”
that life, life is too short to live without poetry if you've got soul show it to me.

Chuckling at her response, Loki wondered how close to him the version of him that this woman knew was. So far she had been rather accurate. Well, that was good and the only thing that mattered was that she would be unable to tell that he had never met her before. He was very capable at eating a load without putting anything on but while in the company of his fellow Asgardians, he was always slightly cautious. It was a lot safer to watch them and learn what he could. Definitely not paranoid.
A slightly trickster like smile broke across his face at her words about the sub and he decided to be annoyingly intelligent - with any luck, at least. "Sub actually comes from the Latin. It means under. I was thinking that the Secret Ultimate Base would be rather under the radar. Although the food reference is an added bonus. Nearly enough to make S.U.B better than Loki's Ville," He said, the seriousness of the words disappearing as he continued talking. It was his way of dealing with this situation. They might as well act unsurprised and cheerful in the face of destruction. Because what other way was there to live a good life?
Although it seemed she wasn't the biggest fan of his lightness as she responded to his gambling comment. The little trickster rolled his eyes at her words. He was going to gamble if things calmed down enough for it. He didn't want to steal (properly - some might type his form of gambling as stealing). After all, he was already on a slippery slope. Trying to redeem his name that was cursed to live in villainy. True the lines for him were a lot more blurred anyway but Loki had to tread carefully. And hide his actions whenever they came too close to those lines that others were not willing to touch.
Listening to her serious monologue on what needed to be done, Loki nodded at all the important parts to show that he was listening. Safe-place, sleep, energy and water. Simple enough of a plan. Although water was a serious issue. If they couldn't get any water... if what they had ran out... when it ran out... He pressed his lips together. He hoped that this would not be the case. "Well, if we need anything for recording information or taking pictures and such, I've got this," Loki said, holding up his trusted Starkphone. Seeing as Asgard didn't exactly have places for charging, he had done a bit of magic on it before Ikol had taken that skill away from him. It held a charge wth a lot more ease and for a great length of time. He had never gotten on to trying to get it to work across realms, though. Asgard had only returned to it's place on the World Tree after he had lost his magic.
Laughing at his own words with the women, Loki did his best to keep the tone light. They needed it. "What I should like is not important for it is our most noble quest that we must focus on. Whether we pay for our lootings or not. So, brave maiden, let us continue to our target so we may feast and then find our Secret Ultimate Base of Loki's Ville!" He declared, walking forwards with no sign of worry in his step. He coped with things. It worked out. "You're too cheerful," Ikol commented as he flew over head and Loki simply smiled at that commented from the bird.
