One week. It had been one week since Kurt had been trapped in New York City of another reality, another universe. And he wasn't anywhere closer to getting more answers or figuring out how to get home. He hadn't seen Pietro again in all that time, no doubt the speedster off doing his own thing. Maybe even trying to avoid the Kurt that wasn't this place's Kurt. The one that died. Which was still a surreal thing to think about. To know that there was a place where he wasn't alive anymore. It's like the Twilight Zone. Kurt thought as he moved through the heavy crowds long the streets under the disguise of his image inducer.
His little 'brothers' were not with him, the little imps having taken off to do who knew what. It worried him a bit, knowing the mischief they could get into, but at the same time he couldn't follow after them. And it was kind of better that they weren't around when he was walking in public. They'll come back later anyways. he thought as his stomach grumbled.
The young mutant looked around, seemingly blue eyes looking about to find a food source. He still had money on him, having resorted to relying on McDonald's dollar menu. But he was getting a bit tired of that. So when his gaze fell upon a little cafe tucked in a corner that looked reasonably priced, Kurt didn't hesitate to make his way inside. It was a bit crowded once he got in, with a sightly long line and many tables filled up. But as he waited in line, he noticed a few tables still open, and even more doing so as people finished up.
By the time it was his turn, he didn't think to order to go. It would be nice to just sit for a little while as he enjoyed his meal. A choice he would soon regret as he got his order and turned around to see that those tables that had once been free were now snatched up. Just my luck. he thought with a pout, eyes looking about in a desperate search for a place to sit.
There were a couple places where it was only just one person at a table, leaving another chair completely open. Which gave the fuzzy mutant a bit of hope. He just needed to decide which person would be willing to let him sit. One had a laptop and was clearly working on something, an aura that screamed to not disturb surrounding them. So that was an out. Another was looking at their phone over and over, showing signs of waiting on someone, so that was also a no.
Finally, his gaze fell to a blonde boy that looked roughly his age. He didn't appear to be waiting for anyone or look super busy. He seemed to be Kurt's best shot. So with a a quick blow of air to move curly hair out of his face, the fuzzy elf made his way over. "Hallo." he said, giving a friendly smile. "Is it alright if I sit here? Eferyvhere else is full."

To have immortality Is to first live a life worth remembering ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯
Bitter roasted beans mixed with the sweet subtleties of caramel as Danny sipped his macchiato. A plate that once held a piece of pie sat with only some crumbs and a use fork in front of him. Despite the busy nature of the little hole in the wall café, it was a reminder that even with their city segregated and dimensions converging together with who knew what outcome, that there was still some sense of normalcy to be had. Another sip and the hot liquid cascaded down his gullet to warm his insides and further bring the teen into a state of calm. This was just what he needed, a drink and a chance to get his thoughts together.
It had only been a few days now since he found himself torn from the hellicarier to the streets of an unfamiliar New York. He had no further progress on how to return to his team, or even get a message out to them to see if they were alright, or let them know that he was for the most part okay. Over the last few days all of his time had gone into establishing a place to stay, filling the fridge, and making sure the city was really a replicate of the one he had known and grown up around. Granted he had only really lived there till he was 9. In a stroke of luck it seemed that the ‘him’ of this dimension had the same account access information, so getting a hold of the Rand fortunes was no issue at all. While the company had advanced some from what he recalled, it was all relatively the same.
Danny hated having to rely on the family fortune to get ahead in this city, but he was no good to anyone without food in his belly and a home to keep him healthy and out of the cold. Still, he had not exactly gone pent house. The young teen purchased a small apartment that suited his needs and really just that. He furnished it as though he was planning to leave any day, which he was, and he had also made sure that the building had some vacancies so that if it was necessary he could help out others in his situation. Over spending could prove dangerous, as even with billions of dollars the funds could run out when you were cut off of 87% of your revenue stream. If he was going to help out with the crisis he needed to spend wisely. It would also be a bit unfair to drain any resources away from this ‘other him’, just in case his alternate self actually used the Rand account.
Leaning back into his seat, Danny let his eyes wander out the window and out across the people of New York City. Cut off from the rest of the world yes, but quiet, never. The big apple was just as busy as it ever was, and people seemed far more interested in going about their lives then instantly panicking which was good to see. Sure there were those who felt the need to try and rally the masses into chaos, but for the most part, like every day New Yorkers, the crazies yelling in the streets weren’t given the time of day. Perhaps there was confidence yet to be had in the hearts of the people, that the Avengers would soon have things under control. How long would it take though to see the breakdown of normal society.
His deep thoughts were left behind as he felt his mind pulled to the surface by a German accent belonging to a young voice. Swiveling his head around Danny looked up ever so slightly to meet the rather friendly face of a boy about his age who was looking for a place to sit in the busy café. Instantly Danny put on a broad smile and used his hand to gesture to the chair across from him. “Go for it…Always nice to have a bit of company” Danny had no idea that the man sitting down with him was a mutant hero, but there was something about him he felt he couldn’t place. Nothing like a spider sense, Danny brushed off the feeling and replaced it with basic introductions and some conversation starters. “Names Daniel Rand, but Most just call me Danny” he reached a hand across the table to offer the other for a shake. “Your accent..is it German?” he asked mostly just to confirm but also to keep the ball rolling past just names. Still, it was a question that could be answered abruptly if the other was just looking for a chair and not an acquaintance.
Note: I was so excited for this! Go team awesome! ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯TAG: Kurt Wagner // NightcrawlerWORDS: 788 OUTFIT: Danny Civies
