To have immortality Is to first live a life worth remembering ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯
While it was but one star among what we know as over 100 billion other stars in the galaxy, there was one that literally meant the world to earth, the sun. Its surface temperature blazed away at over 5,500 degrees centigrade and while that was more than enough to reduce this planet to dust, thanks to the poles, the atmosphere and the perfect proximity, it only served to force the wary beach goer to dawn some lotion to prevent the burning of human skin. Today the sun was out in all its glory, baking the sandy water front without a cloud in the sky to hinder it. 386 billion megawatts of energy created through nuclear fusion, was serving to create a perfect lounging day on earth. In the dire situation that was New York City, this natural marvel could still reach them and offer a warmth that soaked you to the core.
Danny knew there were plenty of things that could be done to continue the ongoing struggle to find a way to undo what had been done by Thanos, but even the most iconic and dedicated hero’s knew that if you worked yourself to the bone, you could end up worthless when the truly called upon. With that in mind, the blond teen billionaire took the day to recharge his batteries and give his body a break and his mind the chance to slow down and re-asses all that had happened to him in the short time he had been to New York.
The feel of the sun radiating the surface of his skin, only obstructed by the green trunks, was like being wrapped in a heating blanket. Around him there was the sound of laughter, as it seemed even in crisis the beach was a place where people would go to enjoy the day. Anyone upset or fearful remained locked away in their city homes. This was a place where the energy of enthusiasm and youth had never failed to offer him peace of mind and soul.
Fingers, with the help of his chi, capable of cutting steel dug softly into the sand. Finger tips tickled the cooler sand below the surface and served to somewhat regulate his overall temperature. The rolling sound of waves was a methodical hum that hypnotically never missed a beat. Salt was on the air and the only thing cutting through the crash of waves and buzz of human interactions was the squawk of hungry gulls.
Danny was nearly at a slumber when his body signaled him that it was starting to get a bit too warm. The only issue with the cloudless day was there was little shade to offer brief relief, and even worse as the ocean wind felt just as dry and warm as the still air. Allowing himself to wake he slowly sat up, his right hand pulling from the sand to help him sit up though his abs were fully capable of lifting him. Five fingers falling to rest on the surfboard at his side that was still damp from his last trip out into the waves.
Tucking in his knees the teen looked out into the surf but out of the corner of his vision he noticed a game of volley ball had started. It was not something he had interest in joining, but it did serve to remind him of the last time he had enjoyed the summer sun on a beach front. The deserted island that Peter had found for them in the shield jet that turned out to be a prison for the sand man. It had been a difficult and dangerous ordeal but he could still hear the laughter of his team mates as they enjoyed the worry free first few moments on that beach.
This was the part of giving his mind time to relax that he dreaded. That feeling in the pit of his gut that somewhere and un known number of dimensions away, his friends were still fighting the good fight without him. No idea how they were, no way to communicate, and still no clue how he was going to get back to them. Leaning back on his hand to look up at the empty blue sky he let out a deep sigh “I’ll get back there..they are more than capable of looking after themselves.” He mumbled to reassure himself and keep a positive mind frame. With that he used the momentum of swinging his head and body forward from the lean to help himself get to his feet and grab his board. A few more waves couldn’t hurt before he finally gave in and went back to his apartment. Heading out across the beach his feet were delighted to get off the burning hot sand and into the water saturated sand that was far cooler to the touch. For a moment he stood where the water could rush over his feet as deep as his ancles. The motion of the waves and loose sand letting his feet sink down into the earth, Danny stood firm as if something were keeping him at the beach. Fate worked in odd ways and had he not hesitated he may have missed one of the most curious encounters of his young life.

The beach. It was kind of brilliant. There was the sea, so large and on going and blue and moving and touching the sky. That was one of the fun things and something that the boy did not often get to see. So it was very exciting. Then there was the sand. Miles and miles of it. Millions upon millions of grains of sand, piling on top of each other. If that wasn't awesome, Loki didn't know what was. It wasn't like he got to visit beaches that often. Or ever! It hadn't really been a year since he had come back to life and that had been full of danger and things that Loki had to do to keep Asgard and all the realms safe. Now he was trapped and there was nothing that he could do. Which meant a spot of Loki pampering time every now and then as he tried to figure out his way back home. Neither magic nor science had provided the answer (the boy had taken to reading science books to get caught up on what the mortal subject could do for him).
Of course, there was a lot to learn about going to the beach and Loki had forgotten to check up on what he might need in his excitement and Ikol had failed to remind him. The kid, appearing only twelve years in age, had found that he had to remove his shoes and that sand felt hot. Loki was dressed casually, at least he had been this prepared. He had a green shirt and shorts on but he had not thought to acquire some of the weird and revealing clothing that the mortals seemed to all be wearing. Never before had he seen so many woman or men in such little clothing. And in public! There was so much skin and stomach on show. Sure not everyone on Asgard dressed as modestly as himself and his brother but still, there was a general wearing more than just your undergarments no matter the weather. Although Loki did know that not everyone slept with clothes on, much to his embarrassment. That was the only time!
"I wonder why they wear such little clothing," Loki commented to Ikol as a scantily clad woman walked past him without seeming to possess a care in the world. "It's there swimming attire, I believe." Ikol commented, flying besides the boy. "Some of them, particularly the younger girls wear more," Loki commented as he looked around. The boys were just in undergarments at all times, though. It was such a strange world.
Of course, that meant that Loki was rather enjoying himself. It was all something new. Not something that he ever really got to do. It was a time to learn. watching the actions of the people, Loki decided to test out the sitting on the beach that seemed to be most popular in the older population. That lasted a grand total of four minutes and twenty seven seconds. The trickster always had to be doing something and after that attempt at relaxation, he got up and started pacing on the burning hot sand. He had left his Starkphone safe at the Avengers Mansion where he had taken up residence. It would be safe there, Loki had hidden it well. So what could he do now? Should he head back? The answer to that was no. Of course he was going to give up just yet. This was going to be his fun day at the beach and he would have it, even if he wasn't one to wear as little as most of the others on this sandy expanse.
So Loki did what the other participants on the beach were doing and rolled up his shorts (they fell past his knees - not the best thing for paddling in water) and headed into waves. They were nice and cool as opposed to the burning sand and Loki grinned, kicking the water and bending down to touch the ground with his hand, Loki felt the different of the wet sand and quickly rinsed his hand of the clinging material. "You really shouldn't be at the beach," Ikol reminded Loki but the boy sighed and rolled his eyes. "Day off, Ikol. Everyone needs those," He told the bird.
Heading a bit deeper into the water, the boy felt the waves almost lapping at his knees. It felt nice and refreshing. Loki was beginning to wonder whether it was worth getting his only casual clothes wet to go and swim in the water. It looked fun. Then he noticed some old friends he had made. Well, not really friends. They were a group of hungry teenagers who had tailed him a while back when he had just won a lot of money through gambling. Loki had kind of had to jump across two buildings to escape from them. And they were too close for comfort. As two children ran along the shore just by him, Loki quickly used this for cover to get away from the teenagers and thus avoid any possible confrontation should they recognise him (which he hoped was unlikely).
But there was one thing that Loki hadn't counted on. It was different running in water and as he scrambled towards the more shallows, still trying to get some distance, he tripped and fell right into another teenager. Or young adult. Loki couldn't decide. Catching himself on the stranger, the boy quickly stood up and took in the green garments that were the only things that clothed him. "Sorryaboutthat. Nicechoiceofcolourforyourundergarments," He said in a massive rush before taking a breath. "Swimming attire, I mean!" He said, not as rushed this time but still talking faster than usual. The boy smiled, almost sheepishly and took a few steps back.
((OOC Note: Yes! Lovely warm water and a little god of mischief to bump into you!))

Thanks to his feet being firmly dug into the sand below, and his board perpendicular to the ground, the older teen was able to take this head on collision but keep himself up right. Admittedly he had heard the splashing as Loki had approached at a run, but lost in thought he had mistaken it for childish play and no a failed attempt to sprint in the surf. Instinctively his arm shot out to help the young man to his feet, the crashing waves often making this a hard task as well. It was a bit curious that the other wasn’t in the proper ‘beach ware’ but it was not completely uncommon for people to just come out for a walk. Instantly green eye scanned for a watchful parent to run out and apologetically claim their child, but when none came to the ‘rescue’ he could only guess that the boy was simply out of sight.
"Sorryaboutthat. Nicechoiceofcolourforyourundergarments, swimming attire, I mean!" The first gust of pharse from the kids mouth took Danny a moment or two to break down. ‘Undergarments?’ His mind ran over the key word that the boy had to correct. What kid would mistakenly refer to swim trunks as underwear? He figured the same type that wore nearly all of their cloths while going into the water. “Hey, no harm no foul little dude” Danny offered with a soothing smile as the apology was made. Glancing up again to scout out down both stretches of beach he still saw no signs of an adult, curious that if the kid was just here for a walk that no one would have caught up by now. Digging his board into the sand with a quick thrust he turned his full attention on loki. “Where are you guardians?” he asked obviously referring to some type of care taker. It didn’t have to be his parents, but someone would be out here with the kid right? He wasn’t a baby but he was still young enough that supervision was a wise decision.
Looking down at the pre-teen Danny crouched a bit to bring himself closer to eye level, though it put him just a tad bit under that goal. “I take it you’re a fellow fan of nature’s greatest color..” he said lightly poking his finger against the others chest where he too sported green attire. That same finger curled into a fist as Danny let his thumb rise to visually reward the other on his choice of clothing. “But while you’re wise in your color choice..it’s not a smart move to be out in the ocean on your own.” Had Daniel known whom he was talking to this conversation would never have jumped to ‘the ocean is a dangerous place’. In fact, had this loki not been his younger self, the whole happy happy feel to the moment would have been drown in cautious annoyance.
In his home world, like most, the name Loki was always met with distain. The man had nearly gotten one of his friends eaten, had made him and his team face a day of ‘mini me’ and as often was the case nearly cost them all their lives on multiple occasions. Danny was a forgiving man but he never did see much room for change in the Asgardian lord of trickery. Even with this adorable face, there was only so far trust could stretch be for no manner of looks, pouts, or reasoning could bring back the confidence.
It was perhaps for the best they meet like this, the impressions made today may just save what would instantly be a hostile relationship in the future.
Note: Little shorter XD but hope it gives enough to go off of!

It was a relief to have not fallen face first into the salt water. Loki didn't really have any other clothes for casual wear. Just his normal Asgardian gear and a lot of people were smart enough to put two and two together. People from different universes, boy who dressed strangely in green and with mini horns. Not hard to figure out that he was a version of Loki. And the boy had long ago come to the conclusion that any version of Loki was bad. He didn't even need to be here to figure it out (it just helped seeing the responses that everyone gave to him). Sometimes, Loki wondered whether he had done the right thing when Thor had give him that choice.
A beam of a smile came across the young boy's face as he was called 'little dude'. Seriously, how often did the guy who was commonly known as the God of Evil get called that? It was especially great for the kid because he was good now. He was going to be the God of Good Deeds from now one. And also, Loki was pretty sure by this point he was getting close to being the Supreme Norse God of Coolness. So Little Dude was great. That was totally what Loki wanted to be! Well, maybe it would be nice to be a little taller. "Glad there's no harm," Loki said cheerfully, eyes aglow with cheerful light and innocence which where his honest feelings. Loki could be truthful! Besides, Loki knew he did weigh a bit more than a Midgardian would. He wasn't too sure why but it also made him more durable, like his brother!
However, honesty was going to backfire and Loki almost slipped up with the next question. For what might have been a split second, there was conflict and pain in his eyes. Guardian to the boy meant Thor. But Thor in his own world was doomed to die. Then there was Odin, who was probably the more legal one. Odin who had shouted at him... Loki knew from the Teller that Odin held some feeling for the young trickster but it was bare minimum. Then there was his actual father. Loki could remember nothing of Laufey. But it clouded over quickly. The boy was not going to let the overly complicated life escape him. "I'm currently staying at a house with some others. I think we're all without family while we're stuck here but I've got a lot of free reign with what I do and where I go," He said, giving a fake sniff and a shrug. He couldn't say that his family were here. No doubt he would get an offer to take him back, like that time with Osborn. That was not something he wanted to repeat.
If only he could believe the lie. The boy wished it could be something as simple as that. But the word Guardian had reminded him so greatly of Thor. His first memory as Loki and not that boy, Surrure on the streets, had been of his brother. Thor had done everything for him. Everything. And now... Back home... It was enough to remove one to tears and Loki would have done if he could be allowed to. But it was not. Especially not here.
A smile came across his face that had become almost sullen and reflective in the wake of the thoughts on the lack of a brother. If only Thor could be here and save him now. This guy seemed friendly and it cheered Loki up to have some conversation going and to even hear someone care about his safety, which was a thing he had never even heard in Asgard. He wondered what Midgard would think if they new his predicament. That was an amusing thought. I'm fine. I can swim, I just didn't bring any swimming gar... gear," Loki said, quickly turning garments into gear. That worked better. No wave was going to defeat him! He would battle the tide! Or rather, he would try to not get his clothes wet. "I really should get swimming gear some time," He mused out loud. He had gambled to get himself money as that was important to have. "Know any place I can get such items of clothing. And preferably a sort that isn't too revealing,"
As strange as it might seem, Loki felt under-dressed in his Midgardian gear. There was so little of it. Only single layers and no metal. It was completely strange and bare. But it was needed to blend in and Loki had an interest in that. Especially while here. He might as well get the most mortal like life he could while he was at least more unknown. Although deep in his heart he knew he should be fighting Thanos to find a way back home. But thinking about what was to come back home made him hurt. He didn't want to face it. What would happen to his brother or the fact that he would be left alone with those barbarians. No one on Asgard liked him at all. "So what about you? Are you one of the lucky few who has managed to get here with family or...?" The boy asked, wanting to keep a conversation going. He approved of this teen/young adult's choice of clothing and wanted desperately to think of anything but what was going to happen to his own family and himself back in his homeworld.

"I'm currently staying at a house with some others. I think we're all without family while we're stuck here but I've got a lot of free reign with what I do and where I go,"
Why did it not surprise him that there was a house somewhere with stray kids that had shown up here with no one. Not orphans, no, they had family it just happened that they were not ‘chosen’ to come along into this hellish entrapment of a city. Danny’s heart sank as he looked at the hidden sorrow that formed on the kids face. The boy tried to hide it but Danny was fairly good at reading people and their body language. It was hard to face a new place without your family at a young age, he knew that more than most. In a day he had lost his own parents and wound up in a land different than any other on earth with strangers he only heard about from his father’s re-counts of Kun’h Lun. The only difference was he knew there would never be a family to go back to.
Sympathy in his eyes he looked down at the smaller dark haired boy. He didn’t want to come off as creepy, but it would be his goal to find out where this house was. If there was something good to come of the wealth his family had amassed, it was to be able to help those in need when no amount of punching and kicking bad guys would see positive results. This world, as much as he hated to admit it, was run by dollar signs. Rand International though had plenty, and from what he had found of his own bank account it would seem that his other self had not entirely forsaken the family wealth. There was enough zeroes on the end of his bank statement to put food and cloths on the back of a few children for years to come. He just hoped it wouldn’t end up being a ‘years to come’ kind of situation. It still felt, in a strange way, that he was spending some one elses money too. He would just have to deal with that ‘guilt’ later.
“I'm fine. I can swim, I just didn't bring any swimming gar... gear, I really should get swimming gear some time, know any place I can get such items of clothing? And preferably a sort that isn't too revealing.”
Danny had to snicker at the revealing comment, a quick scan of the beach and he could understand the logic behind that question. While most men were pretty standard, woman seemed to have a wide variety of swim wear from shirt and shorts all the way to almost less than a bra and panties. Even a few brave men sported the Speedo. Something he learned from his own adventures was a bit riske for the likes of those around him. Trunks just seemed a safe bet.
“Well there is a place just up the street that has a pretty good selection. Bit name brand but you can’t really avoid that around here. Two blocks up and one block north is another…bigger selection but lower quality..” he glanced back down at the kid and weighed his options. His parents weren’t exactly here to buy him anything, and as far as he knew it was not easy for a kid to just come across cash. He could easily offer to pay but knowing the state of society, even for a younger teen, walking off a beach with a kid he bumped into could appear a bit ‘off’. Running his free hand through his hair he thought it over but helping out was out weighing the dirty looks he might get. If anyone asked he would just explain the situation. They all knew this city was different now, situations as they were there might be room for a bit more understanding. While he stood thinking over his options, the young man ahead of him piped up again to move the conversation along. It would see he was not eager to get back on his way down the beach, and the glow in his eyes shown with honest interest. His gut was telling him to help, and with those eyes beaming up at him his mind was slowly convinced to follow suite.
"So what about you? Are you one of the lucky few who has managed to get here with family or...?"
When he finally focused on the question he gave a soft smile, where once the subject had been a soar one, now he had grown past the loss of his family and moved on into a new one. “Not exactly,” he began looking out over the water. “My real family passed on a long time ago, but my friends..my real family..they are still back home.” Luke, Ava, Peter, Sam, everyone from back home that he went to school with and fought alongside, they were his family now and he missed them deeply. Being sad was not going to get him any closer to being back with them, so he quickly pushed that sorrow away and smiled brightly. “But they are strong and will be waiting for me when this is all over. Just like your family will be.” He said trying to be reassuring.
“You know what, Why don’t you let me buy you some swim trunks. Beautiful day like today, no one should be stuck out of the water. Who knows, maybe you could even learn to hit the waves someday.” Patting his surf board as he talked help to illustrate his offer, and keeping a cheery tune made him feel a little less nervous about how the offer may come off.
Putting out a hand to the young individual he thought he could at the least help break the whole ‘stranger’ vibe offering his name. “I’m Daniel, but just Danny is good. What should I call you little kahuna?” waiting for the shake to be returned he began to ponder a few scenarios to keep from being seen like some kind of pedo. He could lie and call the kid his brother, but that just felt wrong. Even a white lie was just asking to get him in trouble. Maybe he could pass teacher, if the kid accepted the so so offer to teach him to surf then that made him an instructor. Not a lie, and a reasonable response for the situation. Could work, right?

Loki could feel the water around his pale, thin legs as he stood with the stranger in green undergarments. This experience was still somewhat new to the boy. The way that his legs were submitted to two different textures and temperatures. The weird point where the water stopped and the air began. It was better to focus on this rather than the fact that his brother, his actual one from where he came from, was going to die. And that was the best option. Loki hated it now that he had time to think about it. Hated the fact that he had a hand in this. All he wanted was to have a happy life with his brother. Was it too much to ask? WAS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK? No. Think on the water. Think on the difference, Loki told himself, closing his eyes to hide any tears that may glisten in his eyes. Focus. Not on that which was and will be but on that which was now. Now was what was important. Now affected him.
A smile spread across the hesitant face as the older boy snickered at his comment about revealing clothes. Loki wasn't entirely sure whether it was because there were such people or because of the fact that that he knew very little about the beach. Revealing did seem to be a common feature of everyone here. Probably had to do with the fact that the more clothes one wore, the easier it was to get wet. And the more cloth there was, the harder it would be to dry out. And wearing armour or fur to a place like this would be a silly action. Loki didn't swim, he knew what items of clothing would pull him down if he had to make a journey across water. Which wasn't something that he had expected to have the chance to do. For a second, green eyes stared out at the water with a strange determination. If he could swim far enough across the water, would he reach the other side. Surely the boundaries couldn't be that strong over water. Did they expect many ships to try that way?
Head snapped back to face the stranger as the young adult explained the whole situation on where to buy swimming garments. With the money back at the Mansion, Loki suspected he could go for the brands. Gambling did provide a lot of money when you were as good as him. But it would be better to go with a cheaper option. It would save him some spare money and attract less attention. Infinitely better than getting even more eyes on him. With the history of a super villain, a certain anonymity was a lot better. So Loki nodded as he listened to what the stranger told him. "Thanks, I'll check out that block up north. Lower quality sounds more in my budget and the larger options means more chance of finding something suitable in the all too important green colour scheme!" He said cheerfully, although he wondered whether he should branch out into different parts of the spectrum. It might help with stopping people recognising him. Then again, the fact that he had a reputation had helped save others. It was just rather difficult for himself.
Family was perhaps not the best question to ask, Loki thought as he heard the tragic story of this stranger. Dead parents. It seemed so hard to escape a past that was not littered with bodies. Loki hoped that it was not somehow his fault. "I am sorry to heard that," Loki said softly, looking down at his feet through the weird patterns that the wave made. It was beautiful. A nice way to spend a warm day. Then came the words that were meant to be reassuring. But for Loki it wasn't. What he would face when he went back would either be a dead world or a world where he had to make sure that Thor died. Damn. Why couldn't he stop thinking about it. That stupid guilt weighing him down with the idea that it was going to be his fault. No matter what happened. Tears started to swell in his eyes and spill out and down his cheeks. He angrily wiped them away. No time to cry. No time. Just keep going.
Trying ever so hard to focus on what the older teenager had to say and making it look like he had just got something in his eye, a confused frown passed onto the young features of the god. Eyes flickered to the strange plank that the boy had patted and then fell back to the sea in contemplation. Loki blinked, trying to figure out what the meaning of the words, staring at the sea with a deep expression on his face. "W... Why would I want to... hit waves?" He asked, puzzlement clear in his shaking voice as he turned his gaze once more to look up at the features of the kind strangers. Loki could see no logical reason that he would wish to use physical force on the waves. It would achieve nothing as far as he could tell. Surely the mortals could not have found entertainment out of such a simple action, could they? Perhaps there was more to mortals than he thought.
Introductions were generally good and Loki had an interesting time. Firstly, he noted the word 'kahuna' was not English yet he still understood the meaning because he spoke the All Tongue. The meaning was just there. Wise man, Shaman, important person. It chilled Loki how accurate the term was to him. Not to boast or anything. Still, there was no way that this stranger could know who he was... Still, Loki knew it was best to go with a name that might be mistaken for Asgardian. Just in case. "Lucas. It's nice to meet you, Danny." He said, making sure that there was a perfect smile on his face. His eyes were red and sorrow still burdened his heart but the child found he could always manage a smile if needed, no matter how much pain stung at his very being.

Danny didn’t give it a second thought as his offer to buy the other the swim wear was passed up. Instead the young boy seemed to have his own funds to pull from and would take to the stores at a later date. Pushing the offer might make him seem as though he was asking to flaunt his funds, and Danny was far from interested in doing so. The Rand bank account was actually a burden on his name. For those who did know of the family fortunes, asking for handouts became all too common. At least it helped him week out who his real friends were in the end. His pals back home never bothered him for cash, and all respected his wishes to leave his family brand behind him.
“I just wouldn’t be right if they’re not green” He added to Loki’s comment about the necessary color scheme. It would seem this color would be their bonding point. The initial similarity they both had that might make for a great friendship. Every seed needs to be planted before it can grow, this common color was their soil.
The mood changed though when they hit the topic of families, Danny’s own story seeming to put the other into a down mood. The younger boys eyes cast quickly to his sand sunken feet, Danny’s following the gaze to watch the reflected light ripple over their legs in an elegant dance of luminous white. “Our past, no matter how filled with sorrow, is behind us…” Feeling that there was something deeper going on in the child’s mind he reached out again to place a hand on the boys shoulder crouching down slightly to be at eye level with the youth offering a soft smile if the other dared to look up and meet his gaze. “..Only by moving forward do we heal and make right that pain.” Proverbs, advice, sayings, all things Danny used constantly to impart knowledge and his opinion on somber matters. Often being told that it just made him harder to understand, or more frustrating to be around. Yet, it was how he communicated best what he felt needed to be said. Little in the grand scheme of life had definite answers, so he was not one to try and put a simple title or response on anything. Each saying had a lesson and carried emotion, while at the same time open to be interpreted as it was needed. He just hoped the youth would see something in its meaning that would help ease his heart.
Standing back up his eyes looked to his board with a grin as he heard the youth’s tone change from its chilled whisper to one of bewilderment. There was still the hint of his trembling sorrows under the confusion, but as he slowly tried to wrap his head around the ‘litteral’ meaning of Danny’s offer, the blond hero could see ‘Lucas’s’ pain drift away for the moment. Giving a wellrounded laugh Danny shook his head and using his thumb, pointed out to the rolling waves. “Just a turn of phrase, It’s another way to say surf.” Out on the rolling waters there were a few other beach goers doing just that. The balanced boards carrying them in on the towering hills of water. “Trust me, if you go out there fists swinging, the water will win. Surfing is about using the natural strength and flow of the water to carry you forward. If your balanced enough and understand the dynamics of the waves, you can even get a pretty good thrill out of it. Nothing feels better than for just a moment knowing your co-existing with one of the most dangerous forces on earth.” Looking at the water Danny had no idea he didn’t need to be out in the surf to be alongside dangerous powers. The boy, who would now name himself as Lucas, was possibly one of the most dangerous beings he had ever encountered to date. Granted it was not this particular Loki.
“Pleasure is all mine Lucas” he chirped but as those soft eyes returned to meet with Loki’s features Danny could see the red that puffed along his eyes and nose. The smile on his lips was brilliant but it was a mask Danny knew too well. For many years he had worn the same one, and it was not easy to take off. “You know..my best friends name is Luke, not too far off from Lucas. I think that means we were meant to meet, and defiantly destine to be friends. So how about we walk down the beach and get some icecreme to celebrate. My treat”. Sugary sweets couldn’t heal whatever it was that was striking his friend with pain, but it made for a good distraction. Until he knew the exact cause of the others sadness, it was the least that he could do to try and remedy the red that burned around the others eyes. Reaching out he pulled the surf board out of the sand and rocked his feet back and forth to lossen them from the sands suction. Once free he stepped to the left just to make sure he was no longer entrapped and then brought his board around to tuck under his arm. Looking to Lucas he offered a most genuine smile and he even put out a hand to help steady the boy if he needed to also pull his feet from the, quick sand like shore line.
Note: Icecream solves all problems

Why do people always assume I'm lying?

This alliance formed between their prefered colour was better than Loki could have hoped for. All he expected was to make his comment and move on but instead he had found an ally of sorts. A kind human being who had even offered to give him money. It was almost enough to make Loki feel bad for all the deceit that would no doubt spew from his mouth during whatever length of time passed between the two. He had already partly lied about where he came from. Ah, it was such a curse to have to resort to lying but at least this way he could have company that didn't want to brain him. And company of that sort, Loki thought, was always a bonus.
"You know, I can't even remember what got me into green? It's been as long as I can remember. Must just suit me," Loki commented, for the first time wondering why green was his colour. Maybe it was because it matched his eyes, although that would be rather vain. He'd have to ask Ikol about that as well as checking out the boundaries water way. He couldn't give up on making his way back home. That was just what he had to do so he would do it. And hopefully the heroes would be able to help him. There were plenty of them. They should be able to sort this out in no time.
Or so he prayed.
Still, he could not escape the dark future that was laid before him. A future when he would loose an important family member like the teen before him. Only this man had lost two parents. Still, Loki knew not who he had but Thor, doomed to die as it were. The teenager spoke and Loki was shattered from his thoughts and eyes focused once more on the swirling patterns in the sand and the harsh flashing light that came off the salt water. Eyes tore the scene of sand away to replace it with the face of the older boy as the hand was placed on his shoulder and green eyes focused on the face of the other. The words...
It took the trickster a few seconds to take in the words and their meaning. There was power in them, not the magical power but that other power. A power that Loki did not have the name for. They were wise words. Ones that he would not expect from a teenage Midgardian, although Loki knew better than anyone else that looks could be deceiving. It might not apply to the situation with Thor, but Loki understood the words plainly. It was the way he was trying to get rid of the guilt and murder that clung to him. A black stain on his name. Loki smiled, a true smile, small and timid. Ironically, with his disguise, Loki could reveal his true self as much as he could do when alone. Whenever people knew who he was, it had to be a mask. "You speak in wise ways," Loki said giving a slightly formal bow which was not meant to mock but only to humour.
Straightening up, Loki looked into the eyes of the taller, cranning his neck slightly. "Thank you," Perhaps were was a future beyond the death of his brother. Maybe he would have some chance at a life. For the first time, Loki considered that there could be a future beyond the future.
It was good to find out that the mortals did not actually hit waves but surfed them instead. Loki had heard of that recreation before hand. It turned up during some of his searches into the world of online. And the way this lad spoke about it made the sport seem even more entertaining. Loki's eyes glistened with excitement at the whole idea. "It sounds like lots of fun. I've never been surfing. Never lived near a beach before," The boy commented, looking out towards the waves that moved steadily through the sea. The idea of riding one was very entertaining. "How does one surf?" He asked, turning his gaze back to the older boy. He wondered whether it would be anything like when he tried to ride the Hell Hound. That was fun and very dangerous.
All in all, this Danny was helping Loki forget the pain of having his brother die or the whole world. There was a kindness to the older boy that Loki had only found in the hearts of some Midgardians (and perhaps Volstagg, although Volstagg openly admitted that it was only because Loki was a child, just like the giant man's own brood). And then the idea that they were destined to meet through a name similarity and the promise of sweeted food helped to wash away the sad. Loki liked the idea that they were destined to be friends. It was such a nice idea. He hoped that this was some plan by the Norns. Loki smiled, mischeviously.
"You know, I have a friend called Danny," He said, the smile stretching his face with amusement that he couldn't help to contain. "He's standing right infront of me," He finished after a tiny pause. The child grinned at the taller kid, taking the offered hand (more symbollicaly than needing help) and followed him out of the water. Today was a good day to make friends and for them to drown their sorrows in ice-cream. It was the manly way to do things.
((OOC Note: We will nip down to the bar stall of ice cream to drink lick away our sorrows!))

To have immortality Is to first live a life worth remembering ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯
It was only minutely noticeable, but enough that the vigilant teen caught sight. The soft change of a masked smile to one more genuine and bright. It would seem Danny had achieved his goal of distracting the other from his sorrows. He was smarter than thinking he could erase the worry entirely, one had to know their own strengths, but the least he could do was provide the others mind with an alternative to dwelling on the sadder side of things.
As Loki’s hand slipped into his Danny gave it a soft squeeze before holding lightly as the boy stepped out of the heavy wet sand and water and closer to the dry hot shore. Keeping to the damp soil to avoid burning their feet he started slow pace with the younger lover of green down the beach to the ice cream stand. The question of how to surf being the perfect one to pass the time as they meandered through the other beach goers who tore by running into or out of the water.
“Well, friend Lucas..” he began with a grin, showing his own pride in their friendship as Loki had when he noted that he ‘had a friend called Danny’. “..To surf, like in any sport or recreation, you have to have the right tools. Your board is like an extension of yourself so to do your best it must be fitted to your exact requirements. While you can used certain boards built on standard lengths the best way is to make your own. For a beginner though it doesn’t hurt to start out on the basics and find your comforts..” From there the young blond continued to explain the dynamics of how to tame the water and ride a wave. His hand gestures were smooth and helped clarify his points but his right hand never left loki’s left.
The conversation carried on for the majority of the walk, and as their travel came to an end so too did his explanation. “…then you either roll back in on the surf, which can be a bit rough with your leg tied into the board, or if you succeed float in on top of it.” He gave a laugh at the dual imagery of either ending up in the tumble cycle of a wave crashing into shore or the blissful push while on top the board. “You really have to try some day..I think you’d be good at it” he offered though he would have said the same to anyone as he believed with practice anyone could do it.
Seeing the short line up he smiled knowing on a hot day like today the wait could have been a lot worse. “So Lucas…we’ve done favorite color, what’s your favorite flavor?” Getting into the line, hand still in Loki’s he looked up at the wooden sigh with all the flavors available printed over it. In that moment something dawned on him that made him look back down to the younger boy at his side. He had never had siblings, and the kids he grew up with would have sooner launched an attack than asked him out for ice cream. So for a moment, the wondered if this is what it felt to have a sibling. His grip tightened on the others smaller hand and his smile grew a he looked back up at the menu keeping the idea to himself for now.
Danny knew it was a bit silly, he had only just met the kid, but the thought a pretend as it was made him feel a bit more relaxed. “Feel free to pick however many scoops you want but..” he trailed off to look back once more to the dark haired youth “..There are no left overs in ice cream.” There was a chuckle on his lips as he beamed down at the other before stepping ahead in the line-up.
Note: Pretty sure we didn't need 1000 words on how to surf so..time lapse!

Friendship was an important thing and something that the young Asgardian was beginning to learn about although so often it was founded in lies. But what else could you expect from the trickster. He had to keep things a secret because otherwise people would hate him. Otherwise he wouldn't get a word in. So in spite of the lie about who he was, Loki was glad that he had made friends with Danny. Loki could and would easily be Lucas instead of Loki for a day or more. It just made life easier and happier. And maybe Danny would also get to have happiness out of this engagement as well! Loki hoped so. He would rather spread joy and happiness rather than terror.
Walking alongside Danny, Loki took in all the information that was being given to him about surfing. It was incredibly interesting and probably useful. One element was much like another and Loki had a feeling that perhaps, if he worked hard enough, he could use the basis of this surfing to help him with his magic. After all, magic was just taking a tale and making it believable. If he applied this taming of nature to magic, what world could not believe the tale that he chose to weave. And if he could master magic once more, then he could save so many people. Perhaps he would even be able to break them all out from this prison and then he could be reunited with Thor. He looked forward to that day. If it came, nay, when it comes, Loki knew he would have to find Danny and thank him for the precious knowledge.
"I'll try it," The boy said with a nod, smiling up at the much taller being. "It would be nice to see how well I can do and if I'm not good enough to keep on working at it until I do ride the wave. One should never leave an experience untried. Especially fun ones," There was excitement in the young voice at this. Loki loved to try out new things. Especially human fun ones. Wouldn't it be great to live as a human? To see the world as they do? He had to be living pretty close to how humans did it, the young god was sure of that. Maybe this surfing would be better than milkshakes? As hard as that concept was to perceive. Oh to be young.
Loki wasn't going to admit it, but ice-creams were pretty much a new thing to him. He had recently experienced the boy of milkshake (which he hadn't gotten over) and bacon in rolls with ketchup! Green eyes took in the multitude of flavours that one could have. It was like milkshakes in that regard but still, Loki was worried. What if he chose the wrong flavour? Could there be a wrong flavour? "Never really had a favourite flavour. Anything that is sweet but isn't honey is always nice," There was an abundance of honey in all the sweet stuff back in Asgardia. Honey was the traditional sweetener and this sugar that the mortals had was most fantastic and offered a real change that Loki didn't often get to experience. Thus he revelled in it. No one ever cared to reveal to him that it could be bad for one's teeth.
Looking at the flavours, Loki decided to be slightly experimental but keep to the green motif that they had going. "You know, I have a feeling that the pistachio and, the mint and chocolate chip flavours are probably good options to go with," The boy said almost cheekily, looking up at Danny. Loki enjoyed getting others to laugh. It was nice. And the child was certainly enjoying the atmosphere that surrounded them at the moment. It was one of happiness and peace. Loki was quiet content to let his hand remain in Danny's, playing the part of the little brother, which was such a true role for him. "What's your favourite flavour, Danny?" Loki asked. Maybe he should try what Danny considered the best seeing as the older boy had already proven himself in good taste in clothing colour.
((OOC: The long lessons on surfing. To be honest, I'm sure Loki listened with complete attention and excitement about the whole idea and all the appliances he could use the theory for.))
