To have immortality Is to first live a life worth remembering ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯ ☯
Things were not exactly going well, but then again it was rare they ever really did. Dust settled around him as Danny squinted trying to see through the haze of debris. The sound of panicked citizens seemed distant but the added hum in his ears made it clear that it was simply his hearing that was out of tune. The explosion that caused all of this has been rather close by, and still seemed to echo through his head.
A bright red glow caught the young teen’s eye and instinct pulled him down to the ground as it got brighter. Sure enough a heavy beam of energy just missed him and burned into the building behind him before causing another explosion. This was getting ridiculous, without anyone to call to for back up and to many innocent lives at stake preventing him from retreating, the teen might just be out gunned. Trying to see through the second kick up of dust he couldn’t lock on to the source of the lazer fire, and to make matters worse he was about to find out he wasn’t just facing one assailant. The sound of turning gears was all it took for him to roll to the right just in time to miss the sharp end of a metallic foot. One of eight octopus like appendages of the attacking robotic monstrosities.
Quickly Danny took the opportunity of the close quarters to light up the power in his fists, spinning his frame to give his flat handed attack enough force to cut through the leg and leave the sharp metal end stuck in the asphalt. The spark spewing cord like tentacle it was attached too sucking back towards the main body. The main cabin of the robot looked somewhat like a skull but he didn’t have time to focus in on its appearance as it charged a red beam from its eyes and fired again. Danny managed to back flip out of the way and take a stance as the dirt began to clear showing the second machine was now standing right behind where he had landed. A large talon like foot looking once again to crush him. This time though he was expecting it. At the last second he surged forward and used the momentum of that movement and the shake of the earth around him as a signal to drive himself backwards. The flip landed him on the top of the mechanical arms end.
Anticipating the next move he smirked as the robot proved predictable, yanking its leg out to try and shake the hero off Danny used the thrust to throw himself up into the air. Re adjusting mid flight for the fall back down the positioned himself into what looked more like a kick. “Kiyaaa!” the battle cry was more like a signature, and did nothing more than empower him as he hurtled down towards the robot. Inches before striking the cabin of the beast he pulled his feet back and gave his fist the final momentum it needed to puncture straight through the robotic abomination.
A tuck and roll managed to keep the teen from becoming a pancake after emerging on the other side of the war machine. No time for recuperation as he was at his feet and running to avoid the explosion that came after putting a sizable hole in any electronic killing machine. Getting to his feet ready to face the other already damaged machine he felt a pit form in the center of his gut as he noticed it had now been joined by yet another two identical machines.
Danny had a moment of reprieve as the robots seemed to stare him down. It was only a second or so, but it felt like a minute as his body tried to ready itself for more of a fight. His mind wandering only for an instant to his best friend and team. “I really could use your right now Powerman” he mumbled before being forced back into action by the deadly beam of another skull bot. The other two followed suit firing on him and the agile teen managed to evade the deadly blasts but as he attempted to make a leap at one of the bots the other already had a leg in motion to counter. In the air already there was only so much he could do. Drawing his hand down he tried to hit the arm that swung out but time was not on his side and even with his heightened reflexes he couldn’t make it.
The steel end of the corded appendage struck him hard in the chest, knocking the wind out of him and sending the teen hero tumbling across the destroyed road way and into a parked car. Danny gasped to recover the air he needed and tried to get back on his feet but the attack was relentless. Another blast struck the car and the gasoline left in its tank exploded sending debris, smoke and more dirt into the air as well as Danny. Hitting the ground hard he winced landing on right foot in all the wrong ways. Tumbling across the ground again he knew he needed to buy a few seconds. Getting up through the pain he used the cover of the smoke to sneak around a stone wall that lead to a small office buildings court yard. The concrete wall was only as high as his sitting head so he still had to duck down a bit.
Battered and bruised he panted heavily but slowly rolled onto his knees in a crouch. There was no giving up and someone had to come help soon right? Its not like the avengers wouldn’t notice giant robots nearly on their front door. Danny could only hope this sudden attack wouldn’t kill him before that help arrived.
Note: Help help!

A person could almost assume Captain America had been frozen and lost again; it’d been so long since he’d been seen in action. This wasn’t really how he would’ve liked to get back in action. When reports of octopus-like robots had been attacking, Steve had jumped to two conclusions; the first being that one of Spider-Man’s enemies had made it in here and was on a warpath, or more likely one of the worst things to arrive had appeared. With no hesitation Steve suited up, strapped the shield to his back, and made for the Quinjet.
Under normal circumstances, the way Cap was flying would violate a lot of FAA regulations, but when the feed playing in the craft showed that the robots had been engaged by a single individual, he had to get there that much faster. He couldn’t clearly see who it was fighting, but based on the use of hands and feet against metal it was a safe bet to either be Shang-Chi or Iron Fist. Either way, Cap needed to be there thirty seconds ago.
Setting the autopilot America’s hero climbed towards the back of the ship and fastened his shield to his arm. Every second counted so a hard landing was going to be in his immediate future. As he arrived at the drop zone, the back hatch opened and Cap wasted not so much as a second; he leaped from the Quinjet, diving straight for one of the robots.
Captain America always made feats like this seem easy due to his enhanced body, but the truth was this move was extremely dangerous and tricky to pull off even for the Super Soldier. As he dove shield first he mentally drove through what he would do to hammer into a robot and prevent himself from smearing all over the street.
The first step came just as Cap’s shield struck the mechanized monstrosity. In order to avoid breaking his arm he un-tenses his muscles. Then, to prevent the law about a body in motion from coming back to bite him he swung his body in an arc. The speed at which he was falling, when combined with the strength of both Cap and his shield would allow the shield to tear through the hull, giving the appearance that Captain America was cutting through a giant robot. Capped off with a tuck and roll landing on the ground to form the cherry on top and Captain America had officially entered the battlefield and made a strong statement.
Leaping to his feet and turning to the enemy shield first, Cap readied himself to take on creations from his oldest foe; Hydra. “No one will judge you men for retreating now. If you like you can say you even landed a hit or two.”
(ooc: I don't understand the sciences involved in what I described so if I'm horribly wrong I'm playing the 'it's a comic book' card)

Danny could feel the earth quake beneath him as the Skull bots looked through the debris for him. The heat of many small fires concealed his own signature but it wouldn’t for long. Looking at his ankle he closed his eyes and concentrated on relieving the pain. Everything else seemed to fade away and while vulnerable he needed his foot if he was going to fight. The focus brought a soothing relief to the strained appendage but he knew it was far from healed. He didn’t have a book of answers like his counterpart in this dimension, and the best he could do was speed things up. As he slowly came back out of his trance he swore he could hear the familiar hum of a Quinjet engine. Straining to hear of the grind and stomp of the robots just beyond the wall behind him, he confirmed it. Help was on the way.
Looking up over the brim of the wall he caught the action just as Captain America made first contact with the lead robot. The impressive feat was still enough to bring an enamored wonder to the young hero’s masked eyes. Cap had been an idol to him while under Sheild’s training. The American soldier was more than willing to impart his combat knowledge on the younger team and Danny, of them all, was most appreciative of the style and skill that Cap brought to the table. While others ogled his title and his history, it was form one skilled combatant to another that he found his strongest avenger connection to be with the super soldier. Even the very story of how Steve came to be the icon that he was now had turned this young Danny into quite the fan. One however with far more respect and constraint than some that came to mind, namely his own lead officer, care taker, and ‘principle’ Agent Coulson.
With Cap on the scene Danny felt a new surge of confidence, two on three (so far) was still better than his one, and Steve could practically count as two with that shield of his. Lifting himself from behind the wall, which was behind the rather posed Avenger, he was about to join the man of red, white, and blue when a sick whine of metal caught his attention. Looking into the reflection of a car window he noticed a flicker of movement behind him, hidden in the shadows of the court yard. ‘How the hell could something that big be so sneaky?’. Spinning on his good heal he managed to avoid another strike from the tentacle like legs with a split second reflex punch. The force of his empowered fist meeting the quick strike leg split the electronic appendage like a banana peel. The second strike required a more artful dodge. With a kick of his legs he made enough air to land himself on his hands on top the car where he had spied the robot. In a split second he was required to push off with his hands to continue the backwards motion as the scrapped arm came down in an attempt to squash him on the car. Landing back on his feet, but again on his slightly injured leg he stumbled back a few steps putting him a few feet short of back to back with the world war veteran and still very skilled fighter. Lifting both hands up to strike an offensive stance he dared risk a glance over his shoulder to Captain America. “I’m most honored that you were able to join captain..” turning back as the partially damaged bot followed him out into the streets he relaxed his muscles to be ready for the next strike no matter where it came from. “..but I fear reason may fall on deaf ears. I believe these to be un-manned drones.”. Even if Cap had only been kidding about the bots retreating comment, Danny always seemed to take things a bit too seriously on the battle field. At least, this one did. It was something he would still need to get used to, for all he knew this Cap didn’t even know who he was, or they were on bad terms, or really anything. The multiverse was a vast and endless space, he had no idea if he should even trust this man but for now he necessity and gut feelings said to take the chance.

Hydra. The mythological serpent Hercules was ordered to kill as the second of his Twelve Labors. Armed with a sickle and sword he fought the beast; but with each decapitation of a head, two more would grow in its place. Encounter upon encounter upon encounter had left Steve with firsthand knowledge of the myth being truer than the Ancient Greeks could’ve possibly realized. The only way to permanently kill the creature was to remove every head and cauterize the wound before the replacements could grow. Unfortunately, this Hydra always seemed to leave one of two heads hidden and thus a seemingly never ending cycle of Captain America versus Hydra became reborn anew here in this distorted dimension.
Based on the green blurring around out of the corner of his eye, Steve could surmise that it was Iron Fist who took up the fight against these mechanical monstrosities. However the weight of the body that bumped into his back felt impossibly smaller than the one he knew, meaning this most likely wasn’t Iron Fist as he knew him. Possibly not even Daniel. But right now that didn’t matter considering the murder robots trying to kill them and presumably everyone in the immediate area.
“Well if that’s the case,” Steve said responding to Iron Fists comment about the drones being unmanned, “Then I guess there's no reason to hold back.” Steve pulled at one of the straps his arm went through to hold the shield, tightening it around his arm that much more so he would be able to use it to increase the effectiveness of his crosses. He would never be so foolish as to underestimate an opponent, but three unmanned Hydra robots against the Iron Fist on his own would probably be rather lopsided in favor of the Avenger, but with Steve there to assist this should be a turbulent but successful walk in the park.
“On my mark, you take the pone on the right and I’ll take the one on the left. Then we’ll flank the lead one in the middle and make this fight as short as possible.” Making assumptions could lead to trouble for just about anyone; Steve really had no idea if this Iron Fist had any sort of knowledge of Captain America or worse, was enemies with an alternate version. But for the time being they both had a mutual adversary in Hydra so he hoped there wouldn’t be any issue regarding him taking the lead and making the plan.
“Ready,” he gripped his shield so tightly that were he not wearing gloves you would be able to see his knuckles as white as snow. “NOW!” he shouted, beginning his charge toward his designated drone.
