DESCRIPTION AND PERSONALITY
Appearance:
One only needs a second upon glancing at Kurt in his natural form to take note of his most striking feature. He’s blue. From the top of his head to the tips of his toes, he is covered in the color. Blue skin to blue fur that coated over nearly every inch of his skin to his naturally curly hair that was a much darker blue than the rest of him. The next thing someone would perhaps notice of him -especially someplace dark- are his eyes. Glowing golden irises gaze out upon his face, never seeming to show his pupils as they shine on. One could compare them to that of a cat -or perhaps a panther more befitting- in the darkness.
His ears are pointed, earning him the nickname Elf, and he possesses a charming -and sometimes roguish- smile that reveals pearly white teeth. More specifically fangs that can appear menacing to anyone who doesn't know him. But being blue and have glowing eyes and fangs isn’t the only thing strange about him. Down his long and lean-muscled arms come his hands, each holding only three digits: two fingers and one imposable thumb. The fingers are thicker than an average person’s fingers would be, their size more around the range of two fingers fused together.
His feet have a similar state of abnormality, being much longer than other’s and possessing only two large toes on either foot and a small toe like appendage at the heel. More often than not, he stands on the tips of his feet rather than flat footed. He tends to be hunched over with bent knees, making him appear shorter than he really is, with a strong and flexible spine that allows him to do so. Lastly to his very unique physical appearance, is a long prehensile tail with a spade shape at the end of it.
For clothes, Kurt tends to wear normal articles of jeans and shirts. The pants are always worn low enough for his tail to remain out, or sometimes a hole is cut into them. His x-men uniform is a one piece jumpsuit that is black with a large red V that goes from his shoulders to the groin area of his costume, the same shape being on the back of the costume as well. A hole is cut in the back for his tail to go through and a yellow belt that fits around his waist with the x-men symbol on it. The uniform also has custom made yellow gloves for his hands and custom red foot coverings so that he is able to use his dexterity toes to good use.
Finally, Kurt possesses an image-inducer that appears to be a large clunky wrist watch. With a simple switch, a preprogrammed hologram fits over his form and makes him appear as an ordinary human. Blue fur is replaced with pale flesh and glowing eyes turn blue. Recently he’s even had it so his hair turned form its one navy shade to a more ordinary brown. Occasionally he straightens his hair rather than leave it curly, but lately as found himself keeping its natural curl. There are several programs within the watch should he want to appear as someone else entirely, or have him look like he’s wearing an ordinary outfit if underneath is actually his uniform.
Personality:
Kurt has always been known as the lovable trickster. A mischievous spirit that enjoys telling jokes or playing pranks to get a good laugh out of people. He is quite the happy soul, enjoying to see smiles on the people around him and doing whatever he can to lift their spirits. Though despite his joking around and overall carefree demeanor, Kurt knows when to take things seriously. He knows when a person needs a listening ear, a quiet presence beside them as they take in the overwhelming emotions, or even a voice of reason to show them the path they need but can’t see themselves. The fuzzy elf knows well when these moments are, because he many times has them himself.
Though he hides it well with his joyful attitude, Kurt has many insecurities and doubts. Being born the way he was left him with a lonely childhood of little contact with others and what ones he had outside of his adopted family and what few of their trusted friends were often negative experiences. He has a low self-esteem, seeing himself as strangers do, a demon; a monster; a freak. He longs for acceptance, which made him become the jokester of the group to begin with.
But with that need of acceptance, it can often lead to him making mistakes from time to time. To avoid the possible persecution of others, he hides behind his image-inducer in the hopes to just pretend to be normal. But he has come a long ways from his arrival to America, and knows the importance of his friends over what the majority populace believe.
Kurt is very religious, though many might not seem to realize given his very demonic appearance. Christianity, more specifically Catholicism, is very important to him and he strives to follow the teachings of the religion and be a good Christian. When he is feeling low, it brings him comfort. When he is feeling outcasted, it gives him some form of acceptance. When he feels lost, it brings him hope. For all of his trickster ways and longing for social acceptance, Kurt’s most constant characteristic, will always be his faith.
POWERS AND ABILITIES
Teleportation: Kurt’s main power from his mutation is the ability to teleport seemingly instantly anywhere within the limit of two miles. In special cases he is able to teleport beyond his limit but with consequences. Teleporting takes up a lot of energy and puts strain on his body, even more so if he is teleporting with one or more people. If Kurt is not careful with how much he teleports; the distance; and the amount he is teleporting with him, he risks passing out from exhaustion and pain. When he teleports, he disappears in a cloud of smoke and the smell of sulfur while a small vacuum -created by the air he takes with him as his mass suddenly vanishes- that is quickly filled with air again and creating a bamf sound. The smoke, smell, and sound return in the location he reappears in.
Spatial Awareness: An unconscious and limited ability which prevents Kurt from teleporting into solid mass, as to do so would cause severe or possibly fatal injuries.. However, this ability weakens the further distance Kurt teleports. Thus, Kurt tries to avoid teleporting great distances unless he knows for sure that the area he is teleporting to has little to no risk of teleporting into solid mass.
Flexibility: Kurt's physiology gives him a unique bone structure that allows for him to stand in a crouched position for long periods of time and various contortionist-like positions without any damage down to his spine.
Agility: His physiology and flexibilty has also granted him great agility that surpasses that of an Olympic gymnast. Allowing him to retaining perform acrobatic like tricks while maintaining balance.
Wall Crawling: Kurt is able to stick and move up walls and objects due to microscopic suction cups that exist within his hands and feet.
Blend in Shadows: Kurt is able to blend into the shadows and in the dark night. This is mostly due to his dark indigo fur, but also thanks to dimensional portal that surrounds his body from teleporting.
Fencing: Kurt, though not yet a master, is well skilled in the art of sword fighting. Able to wield a sword in not only both his hands but also his tail, Kurt can be quite the adversary with a blade. Especially with his agility and acrobatic flips.
Prehensile Tail: Kurt's spade tipped tail is a prehensile tail. Meaning it is able to grab onto things with ease. Highly flexible and deft enough to fight with when holding a sword or other weapon, Kurt uses his tail for many means. It's strong enough to not only hold his weight up, a task he shows many times when hanging off it, but it is also strong enough to hold a grown man at the same time.
Hand to Hand: Kurt is a skilled hand-to-hand combat fighter. Though no martial artist he can handle himself in a fight decently, provided he isn't going up with someone of super strength. At least, not without the help of his teleportation.
Pilot: Kurt is one of the few members of the institute that flies the X Jet, and is one of the more highly skilled of them. Kurt's piloting abilities are well skilled, to the point when he can even pilot it with his feet.
HISTORY
Kurt Wagner was born in Germany, given birth to by Raven Darkhölme -most commonly known as Mystique- while the father remained a mystery to many. Unknown to all but a select few -Mystique being among them- Kurt’s father was a demonic-looking mutant by the name of Azazel. Mystique raised the infant for but a few months as she worked with Magneto in an abandoned castle in Bavaria, Germany. However, in pursuit of understanding their mutations and seeking to make them superior to humans, Magento sought to experiment on the infant. Mystique got her child away before he could and ran out into the forest, Magneto hot on her trails.
By accident, she dropped her child off a bridge over a waterfall that fell to an unforgiving river. Crying out in mourning, she was not aware of the interference the child’s father Azazel played in insuring their child did not die. He had kept an eye on her and their child, for reasons unknown, and had teleported to catch the falling infant before allowing him to safely float down the river.
The young baby was then found by a farmer and his wife, hearing the child’s cries as he floated down. They scooped him out and felt their hearts go out to the child. Despite his very different appearance -which seemed very demonic like- they found themselves falling in love with him. Mystique had gone looking along the river banks in search of her child’s body, and from the woods she spotted the couple take her very much still alive boy in their arms and give him affection. Knowing that her life was not fit to raise a child and seeing these ordinary people love her son despite his obvious mutation, she turned away and left.
And so, newly named Kurt was then raised by the Wagners, giving much attention and love by his parents as they raised him. However, they both knew that Kurt could not have an ordinary childhood, as the townspeople would look at his strange appearance with fear and hate. So they kept quiet about him, telling only those they knew they could trust absolutely. That being said, Kurt's childhood was very secluded and lonely. There were no other children for him to play with, only his parents and the visiting adults that he knew his entire life. He was allowed to play on the farm and surrounding forest -though which he practiced his ability to climb on hard surfaces and the use of his tail to climb up high into the trees- but had to hide away at any sign of a stranger coming by.
At first, Kurt didn't understand why he couldn't go into town whenever either his father or mother left. Couldn't understand why he had to hide away when someone knew came by their property or from hikers in the woods. His parents tried to explain, how he was different and that not everyone could understand. It wasn't until he was seven years old that he finally realized what they meant by not understand. Kurt had snuck aboard his father's truck when he was heading into town to deliver crops, marveling at the sight of something beyond his home and the forest.
However the joy he felt was short lived when one of the locals spotted him and cried out in fear. More and more people took notice of the strange looking child and began to yell out names and grabbing things to defend themselves with. They called him Demon and Blue Son of the Devil. One of the locals then threw a stone at him, hitting him in the shoulder before others joined in. His father discovered what was going on upon leaving the grocers and quickly rushed to protect his son from the scorn of the superstitious villagers. Locals chased after them as they drove away but once they reached the woods no one joined.
But life changed for Kurt and his parents form that day on. Children sought out the farm to look upon and throw stones at the Blue Demon child as acts of dares while adults treated the Wagners coldly and kept their distance. Occasionally there would be one to vandalize the farm or home that housed "such evil". It was a miserable time for Kurt and his family.
And then the circus came.
Kurt had shortly turned eight when news of the circus reached the ears of the Wagners. And with it, the return of a close friend that wasn’t often seen. She was a fortune teller in the circus and was a long time friend of Kurt’s mother. She recommended that they all come to the circus, as Kurt was surely old enough to experience the fun. They were hesitant at first, but Kurt begged as he wanted to see the wonderment Margali -the family friend- had told him about.
Finally they relented, believing that so long as they kept Kurt properly bundled up and covered then there would be no problem. And so Kurt was bundled into a cloak and gloves, and off they drove to the next town to give Kurt his first taste of the circus. And for the young boy, it was an amazing spectacle. The colors; the performers; the clowns; the animals; Kurt loved it all. He was enthralled by it all. What he loved most though, were the acrobats and trapeze artists. He couldn't take his eyes away as he watched the trapeze artists swing high up in the air, doing flips and catching each other while the acrobats did their own flips upon the ground and twist themselves every which way as they stood on each other.
By the time the show was over, Kurt didn't want to leave. It had been too much fun. He chatted excitedly about the performers and how he wanted to be a trapeze artist. It amused his parents and warmed their hearts to see him so happy. Upon returning home and being sent to bed, Kurt dreamed of flying across the swings and poles with a crowd cheering beneath him. Margali returned to visit them the next day, listening to Kurt’s excitement of all he had seen. Kurt was then sent off to play while Maragli expressed her main reason for wanting the boy to see the circus.
She wished for him to join it.
With the constant harassment going on with the locals, it seemed best that Kurt lived with her in the circus for a time. There were plenty of strange looking performers that Kurt wouldn’t have been out of place, as well as just have people assume he was in costume and makeup. The boy had promise when it came to trapeze, having seen the stunt he pulled in the tree tops, so she was sure they could find a place for him.
But they weren't sure of the matter, not wanting to part with their child. The fortune teller understood and simply asked them to think it over. And with that, she returned to the circus grounds. And thought about it they did. While Kurt was unaware, the two devoted parents discussed their friend's idea. Of all the cons and pros, and if they were willing to part with the child that was gifted to them when they could not have any of their own. Upon hearing their child cry out in pain and rushing to see him on the ground bleeding with a rock near by as the figures of children disappeared into the forest, they knew what the right choice was.
They talked it over with their son first of course, asking him how he would feel about joining the circus but also stating that they couldn't go with him if he did. The idea of being in the circus was exciting for the young lad, but the thought of being away from his parents was frightening. They assured him that Maragli would be with him and look after him, and that they would right and visit at as many of the locations as they could. But it was too dangerous for little Kurt, with the blinded views of superstitious people who foolishly believed such a sweet and harmless boy could be a danger.
In the end, Kurt reluctantly agreed and they sent him off with the fortune teller to live in the circus. Preparations were already made, with Maragli talking with the ringmaster and showing him a picture of Kurt and talking of how he could climb walls and how he swung along the tree branches. The boy was taken under the wing of the acrobats at first, wanting to see the extent of the child's flexibility and working on it before moving him to trapeze.
The circus members in general were accepting of the strange boy, if perhaps a bit surprised upon first seeing him. Though there were few who kept their distance, some due to superstitions while others thought that he was better suited for the freak show rather than parts of the main show. But they kept any hateful disdain away from the child himself, simply ignoring the boy as if he wasn't even there instead. Kurt found himself enjoying the circus life, enjoying learning the tricks and getting to be around so many people without hiding. He wrote many letters to his parents, and getting some in return as well.
It wasn't long before he was moved from the acrobats to the trapeze, as his body seemed to possess a natural flexibility that picked up the twists and flips required in but a couple months. The trapeze, took a little longer. Throughout the course of his training, Kurt was introduced and practiced in various forms of the art. From the classic flying trapeze to static trapeze to multiple trapeze. Kurt learned how to balance himself along the bars and swings as well how to figure out timing. It was his own idea to try to incorporate his tail into his performance as well.
When he was finally ready to be introduced into the show, he was a hit. The audience loved him, thinking his strange appearance was nothing more than a costume and trying to figure out how he was able to hang on the tail. Years went passed on with Kurt perfecting his skill on the trapeze, and occasionally mixing with the acrobats, as he developed a closer relationship with some of the circus folk. There was the trapeze artists of course, as well as the acrobats, but Kurt also grew close with the circus clowns. He enjoyed their humor and followed their example in telling jokes and keeping the light mood. They even liked to play pranks on some of the other performers and other employees,a trait the rubbed off on the young boy.
His parents kept true to their word, sending returning letters and coming to visit some of the stops whenever they could. He missed them when they weren't around, but their visits warmed up his spirit. And when they were gone he occupied his time with Margali, practicing his acts, and hanging with whoever had the time for him. When he was ten years old, he began -out of curiosity and boredom- to learn fencing from one of the performers who used sword fighting in one of his acts. All in all Kurt was enjoying himself.
But that joy came to an end when Kurt turned fourteen. The circus wasn't making much money anymore and soon became bankrupt. The troupe had to be disbanded and everyone went their separate ways in the hopes to find work elsewhere. Leaving Kurt to be taken back home to the farm. His parents were happy to see him and have him home once more, and Kurt was happy to be reunited with them once more. But he was back to the hiding away life style he had when he was a child. The townsfolk -although mostly forgot about him after the years he had been gone- were still their highly suspicious selves. They couldn't risk him being discovered again.
It was hard going back to that lifestyle, growing restless from being cooped up in the house for long periods of time. He often found himself going on walks, or rather leap from tree to tree and pretend he was on the trapeze all over again. Most of his wanderings were at night, as there was less risk of being seen as as well as the fact that his eyes could see quite well in the dark and he felt rather nocturnal by nature. However, he was not as unseen as he originally thought.
There were times where he came to close to the town or other farms, and he was spotted by some of the locals. Rumors spread of a demon lurking in the forest, causing people to avoid the forest as the sun set and locking their doors at night. Though there were no claims of attacks or damage, which kept their worries at bay but the paranoia was slowly growing. It wasn't until one of the sheep from a near by farm was found dead and partially eaten that they began to grow restless and occasionally searched the woods for the demon.
That was when Kurt first began to teleport.
He had wandered far into the woods, keeping to the trees to stay out of sight and to leave no tracks so that the locals had no idea if he truly existed, when he landed on a branch that was much thinner than he realized. It snapped beneath his weight and he began to fall down the high drop. Kurt closed his eyes and thought of wanting to be back up in the tree. The next thing he knew, a loud sound pierced his ears and a dizzying sensation filled him before his chest collided with a thicker tree branch not too far from where he fell. Bewildered, dizzy, and slightly nauseous, Kurt had no idea just what had happened. But it left him freaked out and he hurried back home.
The next day, he tried to figure out how he managed not to fall. He leaped onto a tree and climbed high before jumping out of it to see if it happened again. It didn't. He instead crashed to the ground. With a confused, and slightly pained, frown he tried to think of what he did wrong. He thought long and hard about what happened the first time, and of that tree. Then next thing he knew the sensation was back and with a spinning vision he was up in the tree from the night before. The tree was at at least two miles away from the house, bewildering Kurt as to how he got there so fast. But his eyes did catch a disappearing layer of smoke while his nose caught the smell of brimstone.
With concentration, he forced back at his spot by the house. And with the same sensations, and becoming aware of a loud noise that followed, he reappeared to his previous spot. He felt dizzy and tired, having to sit on the ground until the spinning left his vision, but there was a large grin on his face.
Over the course of that year, Kurt practiced this new found ability he had. If he focused hard enough of where he wanted to be, he found himself more or less there. He couldn't seem to go beyond two miles, and once or twice nearly had a part of himself get stuck inside a tree when he went the extensive limit. He built up his endurance for it, and even found he could take things with him. Including his parents, though doing so took more out of him. His mother was not thrilled the first time around.
By the time he was fifteen, Kurt was somewhat confident he was getting the hang of it. Save for the times he teleported without meaning to. Which happened a lot. And such moments had caused him to be seen by hikers as he randomly appeared before them, causing the wild spread rumors of a demon in the woods to grow. And with more sheep being found dead -no doubt by a wolf- people began to hunt for him in the woods.
Kurt was almost sixteen when his family was contacted by a man named Professor Charles Xavier. He expressed a wish to have Kurt attend his school that was meant for gifted children like him. The thought that there were others like him seemed almost too good to be true. But his parents were hesitant, they had their boy back for what seemed like a short time and now some stranger wanted to take him to a new country for school. How could they be sure they could trust him?
Kurt rather liked the idea of school and wanted to experience a bit of freedom again. But with the uncertainty of his parents, he doubted he would be able to go. So he went out for a walk, covering himself with his cloak as the locals were growing restless with the thoughts of a demon running about. After a time, he decided to teleport a bit but in doing so caused himself to suddenly appear before one of the hunting groups. The group cried out in fear and anger, and before Kurt could teleport away they grabbed hold of him.
He was tied up and dragged back into the little town, where everyone came out to see what was going on. Upon seeing the 'demon' they yelled and threw things at him while others began to make a large pile of wood in the middle of the square. Among them, a large pike. Kurt was tied to the pike as straw was added to the wood pile, and as the locals spat at him and yell out scripture, the pile was set aflame. Kurt panicked as he saw the fire, and though never tried to teleport within bindings before, desperately thought of being anywhere but there.
And in a cloud of smoke, he vanished.
Kurt reappeared just at the edge of the town, hearing the bewildered and terrified shrieks of the people while some of them ordered out to find the beast. Kurt ran into the woods, teleporting now and then to gain some distance and making sure their dogs would not pick up his scent. He kept it up until he teleported inside his home, crying and clinging to his parents as he confessed his ordeal. Once again, it seemed the decision was made for them and they began contacted Professor Xavier before loading into the truck and riving away to the next city. The Professor had seemed to already make arrangements for Kurt's transport to America, paid for and everything, and so that left with two parents hugging their child goodbye once more before he left onto a train.
It wouldn't be until several days later, and though a mysterious means of getting past customs, before Kurt made it to Bayville. Where he was greeted by an African-American woman and a bald man in a wheel chair. The man introduced himself as the Professor Xavier and with a assurance he was safe, they took him to the Institute. Kurt was later than introduced to two of the students, a boy named Scott Summers and a girl named Jean Gray. At first they seemed shocked by his appearance, which hurt Kurt a little as he was told the school had kids like him. But they appeared to quickly get over their shock and seemed impressed by his teleporting. Jean was apparently a telepath and Scott shot lasers from his eyes. After meeting them, Kurt was escorted to his room where he was given a special watch that could hide what he looked like and made him seem normal, thus allowing him to attend public school. Though he wasn't entirely pleased that he had to hide himself, he did find the outfit waiting for him to be very cool.
His first night at the Institute didn't go as smoothly as his day, as a strange boy broke in and the two accidentally got into a fight with each other. Causing Kurt to jump and teleport like crazy, breaking various things in the building and teleporting them to what he learned later to be called The Danger Room. Sure enough, it lived to his name and the strange boy he would later be known as Todd "Toad" Tolensky ran away in fear.
Kurt's days at the Institute had a mixture of fun and sorrow. He met more and more students as they arrived at the Institute, forming a friendship with a girl named Kitty -and for a short time developing a small crush on her- and with a boy named Evan while developing a brotherly bond with Scott. With these friendships came enemies from the Brotherhood and many battles against them to protect people and hide the truth about mutants. In the beginning of his stay, Kurt was plagued with Nightmares of what happened to him before he left Germany, as well as developed a large dislike for his true appearance to the point of wearing his inducer even in his sleep. But as time went on, and constant acceptance from his friends in the boarding school, he found that he could at least be his true self around them without hiding.
Then came the day Kurt learned about his birth mother. he had always known he was adopted, but he had never known about his true parents. But when Rogue -another resident he had formed a friendship with- began to have nightmares of a woman being chased and dropping her baby, it was revealed that the baby she saw was him. It left Kurt haunted, to know out there somewhere he had a mother. A mother who would have kept him had she not accidentally dropped him from being chased. He was filled with questions, but there were no answers to be found.
No answers until he found a mysterious note that told him of a meeting place if he wanted the truth. So off he went to the meeting spot, which was an empty construction site. A woman covered with a cloak stood at a distance and when Kurt demanded answers the woman revealed herself while admitting to be his mother. Mystique. It was easy to say that Kurt was both shocked and mistrusting by the news. But she spoke of things that prove it had to be true and Kurt felt torn up inside to know his birth mother was the enemy. Just as she was answering more of his question, the reason as to why he was dropped into the river, the brotherhood came and put an end to their reunion.
Luckily for Kurt some of the X-Men came as well and a classic brawl, with them winning, ensured. At the end of it all though, there were still many questions left unanswered. Questions Kurt was sure would never be answered. It took him quite sometime to come to terms with the truth he did know though. And after some time, he wasn't the only one. It was later discovered that Rogue had been adopted by Mystique when she was three, making her Kurt's sister in a way. While Rogue had a harder time accepting the fact that Mystique was -by legal means- her mother, she and Kurt took to being siblings very well and bonded closer than ever before.
But before that discovery was made, Kurt and his friends went through many ordeals. Such as the great battle against Magneto and his machinery that gave mutants their full potential. The battle was fierce and some trust was broken, but in the end the X-Men were victorious. However, Mystique vanished from that night without a trace.
Things slowly returned to normal and they returned to school and its studies. But the normality didn't last long as the brotherhood revealed their powers to the entire school and proclaimed that mutants existed. A battle broke out to protect the students and staff, confirming more of the existence of mutants, and the students of the institute had to be extra careful not to reveal their powers as the the populace did not take kindly to the news that there existed people with powers. A task that wasn't easy with new students coming to the institute, such as the one by the name of Tabitha or Boom Boom as she liked to be called.
Kurt found himself enamored with her for a short time, easily falling for her charms of a free-spirited and care free attitude. She didn't even mind his fuzzy blue self! But Boom Boom was a terrible influence and got Kurt in trouble a few times. After an incident involving her father and nearly breaking into the school's fund raiser vault, Boom Boom left the school and joined up with the Brotherhood, leaving Kurt crushed.
But he moved on and focused on other things. Such as a discovery in terms of his teleportation. A very frightening discovery. Kurt found out, through the help of Forge, discovered that when he teleported, he for a millisecond passed through a sub-reality. With a device to slow his time in there down, demonic dinosaur like creature were seen lurking about. It made Kurt terrified to ever teleport again, even when he was assured that his normal teleporting was too fast for the creatures to notice.
During this time, the school was having its Sadie Hawkins dance. And Kurt found himself being asked by a pretty girl by the name of Amanda. After a nervous filled day of working of how to be able to dance with her without exposing the fur on his hands, Kurt was able to escort the lovely girl while wearing gloves. But the fun came to a short end when the very creatures that lived within the sub-reality suddenly appeared in the school gym, coming out of a portal of sorts. Apparently the machine prevented the tears through dimensions from repairing when Kurt teleported.
When one charged towards Kurt and his date, Amanda urged him to teleport, claiming she had seen him do it before. Before he could ask what she was talking about, he held her close and teleported them into the hallway. The rest of the dance was filled with Kurt teaming up with both his X-men team mates and the Brotherhood to put all the demonic reptiles back into the portals and close them up again. Upon Walking Amanda home, she admitted to having seen him change into his true self and teleport away, and she found herself liking that part of him as much as she liked what she knew before that. When Kurt turned off his image-inducer and allowing her a closer look at what he was really like, he was relieved that she still was not repulsed by his appearance and seemed to like it even more.
From that point on, the two began dating.
If only the peace was kept. It was quite a shock when the Professor turned into Mystique, where the real Professor Xavier was they had no idea. With a battle ensured on the Institute's front long, police cars were soon onto the scene and everyone began to scatter. The police tried to capture them, but everyone managed to escape and meet up again at the look out. Where they were soon joined by the Brotherhood as well. Tension grew as Mystique had the professor somewhere while demanding help to find someone else. In the end, the X-men relented, and with a little help from Nick Fury, they engaged in an adventure through Area-51.
Said adventure was mostly a success, with the prisoners being freed. But Mystique was left behind, and with no information about where the Professor was. Leaving Kurt and the others with no place to go as the world looked on at them with fear and hatred. Such hardships were not easy to to overcome but after many trials and battles, fighting for the right thing, they were able to find the professor as the president claimed the X-Men to be innocent, allowing them to be able to return home.
Shortly after this, Kurt met Amanda's parents. Though the evening became ruined when Toad crashed in and stole his inducer, revealing Kurt's true form to them. Amanda was then forbidden to see Kurt, though instead she secretly still saw him. The only good that came form it all -besides Amanda's strong love- was that Kurt was able to help Toad save Wanda from whatever scheme Magento had planned.
Amanda's parents weren't the only ones that didn't want people like Kurt near their children, a fact proven when there became a debate if Mutants should be allowed in school. During this decision, the mutant students were still allowed to go to school, provided they did not use their powers. Upon entering school with the others, Kurt realized that no one knew he was the blue mutant form tv. And in a desperate act to not be hated, he kept his distance form his friends from the Institute and pretended to be normal. Such actions did not bode well between them or his girlfriend.
But Kurt was desperate to fit in and tried to hide who he really was. However, his friends were indeed important to him, and he attended the meeting where the decision was being held. When the Brotherhood attacked, he revealed his teleporting powers to help save people and fight them off. Though he refused to take of his image-inducer, believing that he was not yet ready to show that part of himself yet. At the very least, they were allowed to still attend school.
It was after all this that Kurt and Rogue find out about Mystique's adoption of her, and Kurt remained as supportive as he could to his new found sister. There were plenty more trials that went through the remaining school year as well as the following, from ordeals with changing powers to the brotherhood to humans who still hated mutants. It was hard and frustrating, but Kurt did his best to endure.
Then Apocalypse came.
The most powerful Mutant anyone had ever seen. The mighty mutant took over others and made them his servants, while others suffered at his hands. Kurt was faced with the horrifying incident when his birth mother was turned to stone. Desperate to keep some part of her with him, despite being on opposing sides, Kurt kept the statue within his room. This brought on a great disagreement with Rogue who couldn't forgive all their mother put her through. But Kurt was determined to let his anger go, and urged Rogue to do the same before she ended up like their mother who did the things she did because of built up anger and hate.
He was also certain that Mystique was still alive, despite what the Professor said. He sought out some way to free her and came to the conclusion Rogue was the key. But instead of helping Kurt, she pushed the statue over a cliff, causing Kurt to teleport in the hops to catch it, but only made it in time to watch it shatter. It caused a small rift to from between the adopted siblings, one that took time to heal. But through joining forces with their enemies to fight Apocalypse, the bond began to heal. And it was to Kurt's joy when he learned that Mystique was still alive. However, she was among the brainwashed horsemen Apocalypse used in the great fight.
When the great threat was finally defeated, Mystique was free from control and began to beg Kurt and Rogue for forgiveness. But as much as Kurt was relieved to see his mother alive, he knew he couldn't believe the words she was saying. Too many times she had used them and deceived them, how could he possibly believe anything she had to say? In the end, Kurt , along with Rogue, turned his back on her and told her to stay away from him.
And time moved on. Everyone began their recovery from the horror of Apocalypse and got on with their lives. There were still many humans that were against mutants, but the number of those that accepted them were growing. Amanda and Kurt remained seeing each other, though in secret as her parents remained firm in their belief. Kurt continued his school, working hard at the institute and helping out with new recruits as they came while taking up fencing once more. He visited his parents when he could, using his inducer to avoid trouble with the locals as they spent time together. When he graduated high school, he decided to stay at the Institute, visiting his parents once more of course, and applied to attend to a local college. Amanda however, was going out of state for her schooling. Knowing how stressful long distant relationships were, the two decided to end it though Amanda claimed she would always love him.
Now single, Kurt continued his life as the lovable prankster of the institute while preparing to tackle on college.
ROLE-PLAYING SAMPLE
It was a sunny Saturday morning, with not a cloud in the sky as the residents of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters got ready for the day. All save for one. Alone in his bed, the blankets pulled up over his fuzzy blue head, lied Kurt as he tried to remain in the land of slumber. He had stayed up late into the night, more of the nocturnal sort, and made no plans to wake up anytime soon. Even with the annoying singing of the birds chirping outside his balcony window.
“Fünf… Minuten.. länger bitte…” he groaned quietly to himself, begging the world to just let him sleep, before burying his face into his pillow as he tried to block the sunlight that managed to peek through his covers. That’s what he got for forgetting to close the curtains before going to bed. Why couldn’t everything else still be slumbering as well? It was a Saturday! That meant sleeping in by default.
The sound of shouting outside of his bedroom door seemed to want to contradict all he believed. Another groan left the fuzzy blue mutant’s lips as he peeked his head out and opened one glowing eye to seek out his alarm clock. 10:32 am. The very numbers seemed to almost mock him as his tired mind tried to comprehend it.
“Ah! Ich habe das Frühstück verpasst!” The utter horror that filled his face as he sat up abruptly was equal to that of one who got onto Logan’s hit list. And to the notorious jokester, it was indeed just that bad. For he had been over a whole hour late for breakfast. There won’t be any sausages left! I’ll be lucky if there’s even some toast! For any member of the Institute, there was an unspoken rule: don’t miss breakfast if you want to any.
Anyone who wound up late would be lucky if there was any leftovers. If not, they’d have to scavenge for themselves with whatever was in the kitchen or, if lazy, go out and buy something. For one Kurt Wagner, missing breakfast was normally not an option. He had a high metabolism and a big apatite. It didn’t help that teleporting burned a lot of calories, causing him to be the bottomless pit that he was. He could normally get his fill with the large meals held downstairs, with perhaps a quick little trip at the burger joint for a little after breakfast snack.
I’ll just have to go and get myself a couple of gust buster breakfast burgers. he thought, sighing as he envisioned the soon to be future of an empty wallet. With some struggle with the covers, Kurt dragged himself out of bed went to grab his bathroom supplies. Luckily with the late hour of the morning, everyone else with common sense was already up and ready for the day. Or at least weren’t planning to use the shower anytime soon. Still, it didn’t hurt to knock to be safe. Especially after the last time he decided to simply teleport and experienced the horror of seeing his adopted sister Rogue in an indecent state of dress. He had barely got out of there in time before she decided to kill him.
A shiver ran through him at the memory of that traumatizing experience. I’ve learned my lesson. he thought as he entered the bathroom upon receiving no response to his knocking. After a quick shower to help him completely wake up, he dried off and teleported back into his room with a loud BAMF! The blue furred mutant was quick to dress, not caring much of what outfit he put on. His stomach growled, demanding sustenance to sooth it’s empty existence. “Ja ja.” he mumbled, running a hand through his curly hair.
He put on his image-inducer, switching it on to change his appearance. The blue furred demon disappeared, replaced with an ordinary looking teenager. Kurt took a moment to take in his appearance in the mirror, his fake face mocking him with the truth it concealed. As dark thoughts begin to fill his mind, he teleported away, leaving only a cloud of smoke and the smell of brimstone behind.
He appeared a couple miles away form the institute, and quickly continued to teleport in order to get to the burger joint. His stomach protested the teleporting, but it was the fastest way to get there and he felt it justified. He had but one more teleport to do, one that would take him into the restroom inside the fast food restaurant, and so he willed his stomach to hold on and disappeared with another BAMF!
Eyes widened in surprise as he came to the other side, a rush of air hitting his face and nearly knocking him over. Pain filled his being, much like when he teleported too much or went farther than what his body could handle, and he felt himself waver a little as his hand went to grasp for something. And touched cold hard metal. For instead of being inside the burger joint, Kurt was high up.
On the Statue of Liberty‘s torch.
