Norman watched the boy carefully. He was excited at the prospect of working with Loki once more, but the trickster seemed to be distorting his ideas into differing actions. Was this because Norman's schemes weren't sufficient or was Loki playing him somehow? "A door..." He muttered as Loki spoke about an escape, pulling on his bottom lip once more in thought. He knew the god was right - if there was an entry, there was an exit. This wasn't going to be as simple as tearing the dome down - they would have to leave the actual dimension completely. And stop anyone else from following, sealing it behind them. It was something that Norman was not familiar with - his scientific mind had never once tried to create such a dangerous rift in the space time continuum. But with the magic Loki possessed, perhaps there was a chance.
Norman listened to the boy's next words, moving his hand down into his pocket once more. He eyed Loki oddly as the young man suggested staying his hand. Humiliating the heroes? Keeping them alive just to strand them? That's not what Norman wanted. He wanted them dead - wanted them to pay for everything they've put him through. The public humiliation, the defeats he's suffered, the spotlight they've stolen from him. They didn't want to give them mercy - they deserved to die. But Norman had to admit that Loki's plan was more...reasonable. After all, it would be much harder to kill any of the heroes discreetly while still maintaining his glorified public persona. Maybe if he separated them, picked them off one by one. He wished there were more villains for him to have in his employ - being a one man operation was admittedly difficult, and Loki was never one to directly get his hands dirty, Norman knew that. "They deserve to die." The Green Goblin spoke to Norman in his head. "Let their humiliation be dying at the hands of the Green Goblin! HAHAHA!!" Norman smirked, then turned his attention to Loki.
"You may be right, Loki. A more...stealthy approach is probably required." Norman spoke, calculating. "But what do you propose our next move be?" Norman asked, studying Loki. The trickster was definitely scheming, but Norman couldn't tell if that was a good or bad thing. Norman didn't like being manipulated, and didn't want to be a mere pawn in Loki's plans. "Tell me though..." Norman's eyes darkened as he looked down upon the boy. "What exactly happened to you after the siege of Asgard?" Norman had to know. if he was going to work with someone as slippery as Loki, he needed as much information as possible upfront.

Watching as the events unfolded, the boy did his best to not look like he was pretending and keeping too much of his attention on the reactions of Osborn. He bit his lip as he listened to the man repeat his words about a door. "Yes. Either through magic or science. This is not an easy thing to deal with. We may even need to use both. Won't that be fun?" He said with a grin. It seemed like it would be interesting to combine magic and science. If he was capable of getting his magic up to the standards required... Hm... He'd get Ikol to help him. They needed a way back home and this game looked like it was going to play out for a while. But he was slightly looking forwards to this. Loki did enjoy a good challenge. And villainous talk was such good fun.
Then the real test came in with his attempt to stay the villain's hand from the heroes. Loki was fond of them and didn't want to risk their lives unless it was required for the greater good. And sating the Green Goblin was not a good cause. He just needed to present the whole thing in a good enough manner and to make sure that it kept clear in the man's head. Keep everything reasonable. Make it seem like the best and only option. And most important of all, keep your cards close to your heart and share them with no one else. Only ever give hints at what the cards may be and only discard them once you were sure they weren't going to be of any use.
"We need to get the public on our side and to start finding a way back home," He said immediately, having this all sorted out in his mind. "You have your 'politics' and I have a new appearance to put to use," He continued, sounding casual and unconcerned. "We must now but our minds to this task. It shouldn't be too hard for people such as us. The only difficulty is past reputation." He said calmly. In all truth, he was just avoiding being recognised in public. He'd already and bad dealings with teenagers who recognised him and thought he would be fun to play with. That wasn't going to happen a second time.
The next question caught the young trickster off guard and he did his best to hide this. He should have expectd this question earlier rather than later. There was a pause as he considered what he should say, what he could say. "What is there to tell? Not much. I was killed but I skipped the whole going to Valhalla, for a reason that no one but myself and less than a select few know (and I intended to keep it this way), knowing that my soul would be strong enough to return in little time. And so I did return." It was vague but true. And skipped out the whole fact that he had decided to die to start anew as a true god of Chaos. Not evil this time. He smiled.

Norman watched the boy in front of him carefully as the trickster casually made remarks in rebuttal to Norman's comments. Something was off about Loki this time around, Norman could feel it - but it was almost impossible to pinpoint what was bothering him, seeing as the boy was a master of deceit. Norman was more or less just happy to have an ally, but he couldn't let that relief overturn his rationality. Loki mentioned a combination of science and magic, and Norman raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Combining the two made some sort of sense, though Norman didn't know the first thing about magic. Sure, he had obtained and used artifacts that were enchanted by powerful magic in the past, but that didn't mean he knew how they worked. But if Loki was willing to do his part, Norman would be more than happy to lend the scientific side of things.
"Past reputation, huh?" Norman chuckled. He had wriggled out of his reputations plenty of times in the past, and was almost an expert in the craft now. The public wasn't entirely on his side, but in a little more time, Norman would have them eating out of the palm of his hands before crushing them in a closed fist. "Well, your new appearance should do you just fine for the most part, as long as you don't let them see those eyes of yours." Norman pointed at the boy's face, the green eyes staring back at him. "Have you run into anyone else here? Any of the heroes, perhaps?" Norman asked curiously. He had plenty of reports of them being spotted, but it was hard to nail down exactly who had been slipping into the dimension.
Norman watched Loki as he spoke about his rebirth. Norman could tell he was hiding something - not telling the whole story. That bothered Norman, but he wasn't going to press it. It would do little good to hamper their relationship now. "I see. So are you at your full strength? Or have you lost some of your power?" Norman asked calmly, trying to get as many facts as possible. He wasn't sure if Loki would answer truthfully if the answer was 'no,' but Norman had to at least ask. If they were going to be working together, he needed as much information as Loki would give. If Loki wasn't at full strength, they possibly had some tough battles ahead of them.

It was fun pretending to be bad, despite his movement to the good side of the force, so to speak. He just had to make sure he looked the part while making sure he could protect all the heroes and civilians, no problem, right? Well, as long as he didn't let this man figure out the truth. Why had his former company been so dark side inclined? Well, the reason his former self had died was because he believed he was too stuck in the ways of evil, which did not suit a God of Chaos. But that aside. The boy smiled to himself, looking down to hide his amusement. It was nothing of significance. Just his own thoughts. Green eyes rose once more to look up at Osborn. He always found the height difference slightly disconcerting, all his equals were a lot taller than him. Still, time would sort that little detail out for him, the boy was sure. Give it some time.
"I plan to keep out of the public eye, for what it's worth. Keep myself a secret so I can be a big surprise and all that," He said with a grin across his young face. "And at least I can know that I'm not that recognisable seeing as it took you a good few moments." He said, smirking at this. The boy did find that the whole thing was rather amusing. Although it did mean that he would have to make sure the heroes didn't say anything about him. Oh, these double lives. How did heroes cope? Although their stakes were probably less high. The boy had never tried being a mortal super hero, that wouldn't be too easy. And probably would be more boring. Got to keep everyone on their toes and all that.
"I've seen some of the heroes from a distance. They don't really seem too concerned. Just continuing with their never ending protection of the civilians," He answered truthfully, not ever going to mention that he had saved a child and then teamed up with Captain America. Osborn certainly did not need to know about all that. Secrets, after all, were best left as secrets. "As for any one of our profession," He heaved a sigh. "You are the first I have seen since arriving here," He said, pretending to look forlorn for a second before removing that expression.
Loki had suspected he would be questioned. While the strength of his power didn't mean much to the big guns like Hela or Mephisto (they just assumed and he played with it), to the mortals, strength and potency was everything. "My magic is mine and my tongue can only get stronger. Do you think I'm the sort of person to gamble with my life just to loose some of the power?" He asked, pretending to sound offended at such an assumption. He smiled good naturedly afterwards, to let the man know that there was no harm done. He was merely having fun. "This dimension bothers me, though. I have tried to get out along the many paths I know but we are sealed off." He frowned. It would be good to move off from the topic of Loki himself.

Norman eyed Loki suspiciously. He didn't have a direct reason to mistrust the trickster (aside from the fact that he was devilishly good at deceit), but something still bothered Norman. If Loki was truly at the same power level as when Norman had previously worked with him, why was his disguise not more clever? Why would Loki parade around in such an easy to pinpoint disguise? Obviously his 'rebirth' had left him as a child. but it was still obvious to anyone who knoew the god that that it was Loki. Sure, it was a little difficult for Norman to realize it, but still, why not hide that? Was it arrogance? Or was Loki perhaps missing some of his abilities, weakened from whatever he had plotted after the fall of Asgard?
"So then how can I reach you?" Norman asked the boy after being told he would stay hidden. "After all, we will need to exchange information as it comes in." Norman motioned towards Loki with an open palm. "I can offer you a hideout at Oscorp if you need. I can guarantee you won't be found out there." Norman spoke, interested in Loki;s response. Oscorp was home to many secrets only Norman knew, and Loki would have safe refuge there. He would also be able to keep the boy close to him, which was necessary if he was going to trust him completely. Not to mention it would make their research that much easier to collaborate on.
As Loki fought back playfully at Norman's words, Norman arched an eyebrow in a friendly manner. "I suppose I should expect nothing less from the master of trickery. My mistake." He smiled, but inside he wondered. Norman frowned at Loki's revelation that he had tried to get out in multiple fashions. That didn't bode well for their joint plot. "Hm...I'll try to get some of my teams on researching it. One thing I have an advantage over you, old friend, is my science." He grinned.
The wind picked up, coldly brushing against Norman's face. It was getting late - people would wonder where he was and he still had a meeting with one of his informants. A certain Winter Solider had recently been spotted, and he needed to figure out his next move on that front. "It's getting late. We should probably leave soon." Norman looked over the boy once more, pushing his thoughts of mistrust away. it was just nice to have another schemer in the mix right now, and Norman had to concentrate on forging the alliance, not let his paranoia get to him. "I know you don't think harming the heroes is a viable option, but I can't guarantee I'll be so well-natured." Norman adjusted his jacket against the wind. "But I'll try." He smiled mischievously.

To be fair, it was good to stretch his mind muscles. He hadn't had much of a chance to do this here. No Hela, Surtur or Mephisto to bargain with. After all, they had been his most recent partners in manipulation. Well, possibly victims. They just had to play along with the tune that he had set for them. Manipulation so often seemed to work out for him. He just hoped that his luck would stay. He was certain that a lot of it was just luck. Green eyes looked over at Osborn, taking in his appearance. He couldn't see any ulterior plans. It seemed that it would work out and the heroes wouldn't be killed and he would get a better chance at going back home. Everything was working out.
At the question, Loki looked thoughtful. He was staying at an abandoned house but he was nervous about giving away his location. He didn't trust Osborn. "I don't think I'll be staying in my current accommodation. It's not up to my standards. But alas, I will decline you kind offer. They say keep your friends close and your enemies closer. We need to know what those heroes are doing. If they find a way back, we don't want them leaving us behind. We need to make sure we know all that there is. And with this knew form I've managed to fool my brother back home. He thinks I'm good," The boy laughed. "The fool. But as it is, I should be able to try and get into the Avengers Mansion and keep an ear out. If they come up with anything, I'll go to Oscorp and inform you immediately," He promised, knowing he could not take a home with Osborn. It would be too dangerous. Too dangerous for him.
The boy grinned as the movement of the eyebrows and Osborn's words and he chuckled, looking more at ease as he heard this. Light humour. It was good fun after all. "Well, I am sure that there will be no more mistakes," He said with a grin and a smirk. He nodded at Osborn's words about using science. And called him old friend. He would remember that, he could maybe use it at some point. "Good. I've been trying to read some of your science in the library. Although there is a much to learn," He said calmly.
Under his clothing, Loki was not aware that things were getting colder as the evening came closer. With the black hood hiding his hair, he couldn't even feel the wind that was starting to pick up. "Yes, we should. Places to be, people to manipulate, fun to be had," Loki agreed, pulling the white hood over his head to help in the disguising of him. "Play nice, old friend. We'll get back to our own homes soon," He said, giving a hollow promise and trying to make it sound as truthful as possible.

Norman was a bit taken aback by Loki's statements. He had already infiltrated the Avengers Mansion? That quickly? While Norman had been piddling around trying to gain public approval, Loki had been weaseling his way into the very hive of their enemies. Perhaps that is why he stayed in his child form? Either way, it was impressive, and a giant foothold for them. But Norman knew Thor, and knew the Avengers. Would they really be so easily fooled, even by a master of deceit such as Loki? Perhaps, but perhaps not.
Norman brushed it off. This was a huge opportunity, and he couldn't let his paranoia get in the way of seeing the huge boon presented to him. "Very impressive, Loki. This is exactly what we need - a way to keep tabs on those idiots while we bide our time and get ready to make our move." Norman narrowed his eyes and smiled, the revelation filling him with hope and schemes. "Just don't get too soft while you're there." Norman chuckled. It was good to joke around a bit. Norman was one that took pleasure in his work and having his newfound ally was a reason for joy, not constantly questioning the situation. He kept telling himself that, at least.
"I have a whole building full of researchers and there are still mysteries about ti we haven't figured out." Norman responded to Loki's comment about science. "Don't get too engrossed in it or you'll have a new obsession on your hands. I can always find you a job at Oscorp if that happens, though." Norman smiled with jest in his eyes. It was nice to push the weight that he was carrying away for once and just enjoy some time with a fellow supervision - albeit on that was in the form of a kid. it was still a bit weird for Norman, but he was getting used to it, at least.
Norman knew it was time to head out. It was starting to get dark and he still had to go meet with Bucky. No doubt Loki had places to be as well. Norman would have to remember to check in on the trickster from time to time. "Be careful Loki. It was good seeing you." Norman pushed his jacket collar up to protect against the wind. "I'll be in touch." Norman nodded before making his way towards the exit. He had to put his faith in Loki and believe that the words the god spoke were true. He had to trust the boy to not double cross him.
And that scared Norman more than anything else.
End.
