Alarm sirens sounded, of the archaic; variety squawking their displeasure at her intrusion, the young thief suddenly realizing that the extra security measures taken had somehow not made its way into the security plans she had acquired from a 'reliable' third party, causing the young thief to re-evaluate her alliances and where she got her Intel from. Kicking herself off the ceiling from where she dangled as she had nabbed the ancient and priceless necklace of Isis and the golden statuette of Baast before she dropped onto the floor landing on all fours like a cat. It was then that Felicia came face to face with some foes of the four legged variety.
~Fan-frigging-tastic!~ Felicia thought to herself, as a pack of guard dogs came bounding over towards her. ~Who used guard dogs in a museum? Wouldn't they stink up the place?~ she hated dogs.
Felicia got herself to their level and tried to sound friendly and offered an open palmed approach only to elicit a snarl from the pack leader followed by the rest. ~Okay soft approach not working.~ Felicia rose to her full height and tried a harsher commanding approach barking out her order. "SIT!"
The pack leader snarled and barked most likely the equivalent of a 'screw you bitch' to her command. ~This was going to get messy.~ Felicia thought as she crouched into combat mode.
The first dog leaped at her which Felicia swiftly sidestepped grabbed mid flight and whipped it against one of its pack members. The two dogs yelping and smacking into the wall with a dull thud. The other two dogs came after her separating to flank her on either side. Felicia leaped up and grabbed the low hanging piping that ran through the ceiling. The two animals collided into a yelping ball of paws and claws, Felicia propelling herself over the dog pile. The remaining dog leaped up and snapped its jaws as Felicia vaulted over them somersaulted onto her feet and sidestepped the last dog and turned firing a stun dart from her wrist aimed at the animal and had it drop to the ground with a yelp and a thud.
Rushing around the corner Felicia sprinted for the stairway exit she saw the elevator doors open...
~Crap, this was going to be a problem.~
And suddenly Felicia found herself face to face with a some security guards and they all looked at pissed as the dogs she left back there which she could hear bounding back in barking angry fashion.
~ Rock meet hard place.~ Felicia thought to herself. ~ This totally sucks.~
"Ooops, this one looks full." Felicia said and started to slowly back away. "I'll just take the stairs."
And that was how the mayhem started and then escalated from obscenities and words thrown around lining their threats to actually coming to physical blows...All in a night's work.
Felicia smiled a Cheshire grin before delivering a side kick to the first man's chest that knocking the wind out of him sending him reeling back into the elevator taking his comrades with him like bowling pins. Turning back to the sound of oncoming dogs, the pack burst through and rounded the corner galloping down the hall towards her, fangs flashing, tongues lolling and saliva flying. Not sticking around to admire her handiwork of rent-a-cop bowling Felicia took off down the hall the dogs dogging her heels. When she all but threw herself into the room she originally entered from; the lead dog less than two feet behind and hits jaws snapping viciously. Diving forward arms stretched out before her sailing through the window she entered from earlier, with the snarling dogs right behind her. Felicia caught the dangling rope she'd left there earlier and swung away from the building. The lead dog leaping without thought went right out the window with Felicia except it wasn't able to grab onto the rope so down the beast fell the other dogs misjudged the hole slightly and slammed into the window pane, yippd and reared back into the hallway away from the window; the animals apparently learning from the misfortune of their leader they didn't give chase out the window. Not that it stopped them from barking and snarling and gnashing teeth as she dangled outside before them. At this point the young cat burglar could not help but jut out a defiant tongue in their direction.
Shimmying up the rope as the dogs' snarls turned to loud barking as they watched her from behind the window with impotent rage as she started climbing the rope to the roof. Of course enter the minions she had taken down in a bowling action earlier and softly Felicia swore still shimmying up the rope she looked down to see one of them stick their face out the window, his head poking out and visibly anger.
"Get back here you little thief or I'll shoot!" he yelled then he drew his gun along with his men and started firing.
"Do you even know how to use that thing rent-a-cop?" That was probably not the best thing to do, antagonize a man with a gun.
Again Felicia swore and picked up her pace when she heard the click and ready to fire action. She climbed the rope as bullets zipped by one grazed her leg and she cried out in surprise. It was a lucky thing to climb the rope all she needed was mostly her arms as she tried to hurry her pace up the rope as the bullets continued to sail. She was a sitting duck or dangling pinata if you want to look at it that way; either way she was feeling a might vulnerable. Another bullet sailed a little too closely and grazed her shoulder, Felicia winced in a stifled cry of pain.
A thin guard with long dark hair then tried to reach the rope and just as he tried to Felicia stretched out her injured leg and with an agonizing kick pushed off the side of the building, jerking the strand of rope away from the man's grasp, the skinny man nearly tumbling out for the trying. She couldn't help but chuckle then.
"You Bitch!" he called out eyes wide with both rage and terror from almost falling to his death. She had thought that enough to deter him from coming after her but she was wrong. The guy had ducked inside but not to give up but to get a running start as he leaped out the window into the night and snared the end of her rope.
The man's momentum and weight threatened to rip the tether from its moorings, Felicia could feel the weight at the far end of the rope and knew that it would not support them both. Feeling not so smug and confident now, trying to climb faster and push through the pain of her injuries with a guy now climbing the rope below her heedless of the peril he was placing them both in. Felicia looked up the last ten feet of rope to see it straining against the twisted metal of the roof's distorted edge.
~Almost there~ she thought to herself as she looked beyond the tether to the stars that hung brightly and glittered in the sky as if lighting her way and casting the roof's edge in a winning silver halo. Of course the glimmer of silver was suddenly eclipsed by the face of another guard who seemed to have decided to meet her at the pass or rather the roof.
Reaching for her grappling gun Felicia pulled it out with shaky hand. Her good arm was holding her up on the rope but her injured arm could barely raise to aim properly. She shot out towards another building in an unsuccessful attempt as the kick from the gun was too strong even for her injured arm to buffer the shock and reflexively her muscles gave out and her grappling gun dropped to the ground below clattering uselessly onto the street with a soft clatter. In hind sight maybe she should have aimed at the guy above her instead and taken him out rather than tried to flee.
~God damn it!~ she thought to herself as she swung to try to dodge some of the gunfire as bullets ricocheted off the brickwork spraying plumes of dust and mortar causing her wince and hold her breath as she tried to evade as best she could.
So one man at her heels upon the very rope she was on and another at the roof pulling at her rope to reel her in; one on either end Felicia had nowhere to go. Then the young cat burglar gasped as the rope gave slightly making a jerking tugging motion that pulled at her injuries opening the gash on her shoulder more as she strained to hold on and pull herself up. Nowhere else to go she sighted across the building, she could hear the police sirens coming too, as if this wasn't already a sucky situation. Rock meet hard place. Situated in a precarious situation of guard number one dangling on the same rope below her and climbing and guard number two above her reeling them in. Not to mention the other cowboy below with the gun playing at peg the dangling spider with a 9 mil, or cat burglar not spider. Thank God his aim was crap ass or maybe that was her bad luck aura kicking in.
Great for her, will suck for them soon enough. She smirked as she heard the sound of misfire with the gun. Yup. Her luck.
With that Felicia released her hold on the rope and pushed off to freefall catching the gasped surprise of her pursuers making her smirk a little as they probably figured she wouldn't choose to drop to her death and well she wasn't going to drop to her death, just drop.
With her uninjured arm Felicia raised her hand and fired her other grappling hook and with a violent tug and anchored onto another building and started her swing to that rooftop as she landed with an acrobatic flip and roll onto the roof of the adjacent building.
With a snide triumphant smile she held up tauntingly the acquired loot, the silhouette of her form cast by moonlight brazenly flaunting her success over the guards.
"Catch you later boys!" she hollered with a laugh as she stepped down from the roof ledge and started to head out as police sirens got ever so louder sounding their approach with screeched tires as they stopped.
"There, on the roof!"
"Ugh, can this night get any worse?" she asked as she was now going to be chased by law enforcement.
Felicia didn't waste time moving across the rooftops making her quick get away.
