Mary Jane was in the weight room, wearing a pair of spandex pants and a sports bra as she carefully pulled on the cords, the 50 pound weights moving up and down as she focused her breathing. Why does he do this do her? Why couldn't he just answer the phone, like a normal person? The age of beepers was dead. He could have answered, or even texted her back. Something? Mary Jane let out a few grunts as she finished her set, letting the weights clank down as she panted faintly. She crossed her arms over the machine, resting her forehead on it as she began running through reasons why he ignored her messages and texts. Maybe his cell was in a bag before he changed costumes? Maybe it was destroyed? Maybe... maybe she should just go to bed? She flicked her fingers in an out, wiping the sweat from her brow with her towel as she slowly got up from the bench. She didn't have Peter's spider-sense, but she did get bad feelings. And right now she felt like she was being watched. She turned her head slowly, seeing the older man near the doorway watching her. She immediately got the creepy-vibes from him, her eyes catching his for a moment as she looked him over. He was thin, wearing a scraggily coat and disheveled hair. He looked more like someone that begged for change than someone that would be at a 24 hour gym late at night. "Hey. You're her, aintcha?" the man asked her, slightly hunched over as he ogled her. "Her who?" Mary Jane asked, immediately sliding over to her duffel bag and throwing her towel around her neck. "Dat girl! From dat movie. Wit da guy. You had da..." he gestured, holding his hands out from his chest with a lustful smirk. Mary Jane resisted the urge to vomit, grabbing her windbreaker and tossing it on as she closed it shut over her breasts. She quickly gathered her things, putting them all up in her duffel bag as she moved as quickly as she could without looking suspicious. "I don't know what you are talking about...." she lied, taking up her bag. "Yeah, yeah. You had dat one scene, where your shirt ripped, right? And we could almost see like, da whole shazam!" he said, still blocking the door. Mary Jane was getting annoyed. Yes, she had done a movie recently where her shirt was ripped. It was a horror movie, and like all horror movies there were certain testosterone driven elements that sold movie tickets. While she was never ashamed of using her breasts to get ahead in life, having this creep stare at her at 2 in the morning in a gym was the height of perverse weirdness. "I need to get going. See you around." she said quietly, slinging the bag over her shoulder as she moved to slide past him in the doorway. She was hoping to get out quickly, but that didn't stop the creepy guy from reaching out and copping a tight feel of her backside. Her eyes went wide, and she lashed out, the back of her fist striking him across the face. The man let out an OOF! as he staggered backward, and she was suddenly immediately grateful for the weight training she was doing. While initially part of her desire to land the role in the upcoming Heather Armstrong movie to get herself into the action movie genre, her working out was now paying off as it nailed this guy much harder than he was expecting. He let out a curse word, and then started to run after her! Mary Jane ran out the front door, and made an immediate left. There was no time to try and flag a cab, or a cop. Not at this hour. Instead she made right for the alleyway. Normally a death sentence for women of her build and age, she knew exactly what she was looking for. She had seen enough alleys with Peter to know what to do. With a burst of athleticism, she leaped up on a trash can, then up atop the dumpster, and then flung her hands up to the bottom of the fire escape. She grunted, pulling upward as she saw her little biceps pop and flex, urging her entire body up as she then snatched the next set of rungs, hauling herself up. She heard the creep down below her, screaming at her as she almost smirked to herself. You're not the only one that can climb, Tiger. She hit the top of the ladder, running about toward the top of the building as she reached into her duffel bag. She got to the top of the roof, landing on it with a pant. Mary Jane dug inside, pulling out the small little spider-shaped bug from her purse, slapping it on the back of her cell phone as she pressed the button. The Spider-Tracer went off, sending the frequency out towards the city, wherever Spider-Man might be. "Come on, Peter. Answer the phone this time..." she muttered in the New York darkness. She always carried the small red and blue tracer on her somewhere. Even after all they had been through and split up, she always kept it on her, the same way one might keep a treasured photo in their wallet. The phone let out a faint beep as the tracer connected to the phone's signal to better reach out across New York. No sooner had it done so, then she felt a horrible sound crack above her. The flights over New York seemed to scatter, when she saw the blinking lights of a plane high above her simply vanish. An explosive display of color and energy swirled above her, as the wind picked up and began to scatter her hair about her face. She ducked down low, covering her ears at the thunderclap. A twinge of fear shot up her spine, as she felt a strange shifting feeling deep in her soul she hadn't felt since the last time she was near Mephisto. She swallowed the dry lump in her throat, looking up above her as the world itself seemed to tilt and churn, and she didn't need a spider-sense to know that something had just gone terribly, awfully wrong. She suddenly regretted getting on that plane to New York.

(Note: This thread takes place immediately after the events of Land of Confusion)
With maddening speed, the Spider-Man hurled himself through the air, his limbs curled up into a ball as he spun freely. Once he reached the full height of his swing, he extended his limbs, fired off another web line, and continued his frantic swing towards his intended destination: the penthouse of one J Jonah Jameson Sr. and May Reilly Parker Jameson. The moment Captain America and himself figured out that they were all trapped in some sort of pocket reality, there was nothing stoping Peter from diving out of Stark Tower and swinging towards his beloved Aunt's new home. That woman was everything to Peter Parker. She raised him like a son and helped him develop into the man he was today. And if anything were to happen to her, Peter would never forgive himself. He had lost so many people in his life before: Uncle Ben, Captain Stacey, Gwen, Harry for a brief amount of time, his "brother" Ben and even Marla Jameson. He couldn't bare the thought of Aunt May being in trouble and not being able to do anything to help her.
This was not a time to dwell on that! This was a time for action. After another quick swing, he spotted the Parker-Jameson estate. He noted that not a single light was turned on in the house, meaning that no one was home. Or worst.
The moment he landed on the balcony, Peter quickly rushed to the sliding door and peered in. Nothing. No signs of May cooking dinner or Jay relaxing on the couch. The home was as a quiet as a tomb, and that unsettled Peter. He quickly pulled out his cellphone and dialed the home phone number. He didn't want to set off the alarm by breaking into the penthouse, and he knew his Aunt wouldn't appreciate him barging in like that unannounced.
The dial tone lasted about twenty seconds before going straight to voice mail.
"Hello, you have reached the Jamesons. We're out of town to visit some relatives and Boston at the moment and are unavailable to take your call. Please leave a na-"
Peter hit the end call button, letting out a loud sigh of relief. "I forgot that Aunt May was out visiting her sister April in Boston for the week. But what if she's been trying to contact me?" Peter said as he quickly located her cell phone number. He hit the phone button, only to see the call go straight to voicemail. He was about to leave a message, but then he remembered one crucial detail during his encounter with Captain America, that there was no way to communicate with anyone outside of the city. There was no way he could communicate with Aunt May and vice versa. He turned back towards the dark city, climbed up on the balcony and squatted down in his trademark crouch, watching all the chaos unfold. This was unbelievable. They were actually trapped here in New York City, with no way of getting out.
Before Peter could further ponder on the event, his spider sense tingled. It wasn't a danger sense however, no this spider sense was unique. It was the type of signal he got when one of his Spider Tracers went off. But that was odd, he could have sworn he hadn't used any of them in the last few weeks. What was going on here? Quickly reaching into his utility belt, he pulled out the old radio device he invented to help him track his tracers. The signal was coming from Queens, his old stomp ground as a youth. Without a moment's hesitation, Spider-Man was airbourne once again, following the tracer's signal.
-
Once he had entered the borough, Spider-Man used his spider sense as a radar to help him locate the tracer. He swung above the buildings until the tingling sensation in his head became stronger. He looked down on a nearby rooftop, only to see something that he wasn't expecting to see in quite some time. A beautiful young woman with flowing red hair, dressed in a tight spandex exercise attire.
Mary Jane Watson. The one true love of Peter Parker's life and the woman who had almost became Mrs. Parker. What was Mary Jane doing in New York? Last time Peter heard from MJ, she was in LA pursuing some acting gigs. It didn't matter however, as Peter noticed the real source of trouble climbing up the fire escape. He seemed like some sort of mugger, who actually took the effort to chase after Mary Jane on the roof top. As the creep reached the roof, Spidey sprung into action, landing directly in between the two of them.
"Hey buddy, climbing buildings is my schtick. You start spinning webs and I'll sue." Spider-Man said as he took a defensive position, before flipping outward, twisting his body around before thrusting both legs forward, planting his feet against his chest. The would-be mugger was sent flying off the building. Before he could hit the ground, Peter unleashed several bursts of webbing, encasing the man in a web cocoon against the wall of the opposite building.
"Stick around sap!" Spider-Man quipped before turning his attention back to Mary Jane.
Strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her into chest in a tight hug. "Mary Jane! Are you alright? When did you get in town?" He started, hoping to God that everything was fine.

Mary Jane ran across the rooftop, her tennis shoes hitting the ground asphalt as she went. She could practically smell the creeper coming up the fire escape. While she knew she was probably in better shape than the guy, it was just a matter of time before he made his way to the top of the fire escape. The best case scenario was she had to disable him herself, and that would mean a run-in with the police that would surely hit every Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr feed from here to L.A and back. She needed this role, and bad publicity could utterly ruined her right now. As much as the headline "FUTURE ACTION STAR SAVES SELF FROM DISTRESS" sounded good, she also knew the internet was a conspiratorial place that would surely spin it to make her sound like a reckless glory hound that set the whole thing up as a cheesy publicity stunt and that she paid the guy to do it. Her shoes kicked up asphalt as she bolted, leaping over a small radio signal antenna on the top of the roof as she went. "This is not how I wanted to get my cardio in tonight." she said to no one but herself as her windbreaker flapped about behind her. She looked around the roof, her eyes scanning for something she might be able to use. Her fingers adjusted the strap of the bright pink duffel bag she had slung over her shoulder for her gym run as she swept her field of vision left to right. Nothing. There was nothing. And to make matters worse the crazy light show up in the sky was casting a strange light over the night's sky. She chided herself for not dressing more warmly, feeling the faint chill of the wind on her bare skin. The sweat covering her body adding to the chill that suddenly struck her. She was dressed for a weight room, not a late night run! She dropped the duffel bag on the roof, wondering how many seconds she had before the creeper would be on top of the roof. Fortunately, she never had to make that kind of a decision. She was still holding the white-framed smartphone in her hand as the spider-tracer on the back fed it's signal through her 4G network. She didn't know how strong the tracer was on its own, but she wasn't going to take any chances and New York could be a big place! The phone let out steady pulses of signal as the graphical display on the phone showed the matching concentric circles of red and blue. Her hand lightly tapped the side of the phone, making sure the little device was working properly. Her fingers then slid up to her hair, tugging the loose strands behind her ear. Her breath came out in a faint fog from the chill as she tried to ignore the faint gusts blowing against her body. There was another rush of air, as past her shot the familiar red and blue attire of the Amazing Spider-Man! She allowed herself the moment to have her face brighten, a room-warming smile blossoming across her face. "There you are, Tiger..." she whispered quietly to herself as he web-swung on the scene, and her eyes followed his movements as Peter's kick sent the stalker sailing away from the fire escape, and the webbing nailed him to the wall worse than any glue could. She resisted the urge to giggle at his quips as he swung down beside her. "Well, if it isn't my Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man! I'm wearing bright and colorful tight spandex clothing, too. You gonna sue me, Spider-Man?" she asked him, not risking his secret identity even up here on a rooftop. Besides, the creep was stuck against a wall, not deaf. She had her left hand on her hip, cocked to one side as she waved a finger at him. She then let out a bark of surprise as he put his arms around her, and she playfully shoved his chest away from her. "Easy, buster! Free feels are what the OTHER creep was after!" she said loudly, her eyes betraying far less annoyance than her voice did. "And Just because I'm a famous actress doesn't meant I need to check in with the local superheroes, you know!" she says, playfully jabbing her finger in his chest at his question, for his sake rather than hers. She was excited to see him, but she knew more than anyone the precious value his secrecy was.

Peter Parker would have been lying out of his butt if he told you that he wasn't happy to see his ex-girlfriend at this particular moment. Given everything that was going on, a familiar face was the most reassuring image in the entire world, even when that very world was falling into chaos before his hazel eyes. Especially her of all people. Sure, Peter had screwed so many things up in their relationship. Standing her up on multiple dates, rushing out of said dates to save the city as Spider-Man, missing her plays when she was on Broadway, forgetting to call all together sometimes, and of course, there was the whole leaving her at the altar fiasco. She swore to him that as long as he was Spider-Man, they could never be together. That was the one thing that Peter Parker couldn't give up. Maybe one day when the world didn't need him any more, he could retire. But that day was not today. And despite all that they had gone through, Peter still loved her. He loved her more then he loved being Spider-Man. And he would do anything for her.
After playfully pushing him back, the gorgeous Red-head made a comment about him coping a feel and how she didn't need to check in with him. Peter was about to utter a quick quip about how she should because it was all a part of "Super Hero 101", but he just couldn't find it within himself to even joke around. Instead, he stood there for a brief second, taking in the majestic sight of her standing before him.
Peter found himself scanning his ex's body under his mask, happy that she couldn't tell what he was doing. She looked fantastic, though that was like saying the Grand Canyon was deep. She looked like she had been working out a lot lately, most likely preparing for a role of some sort. She looked like she could have held off that would be attacker by herself given another opportunity.
But this was not a time for games and joking. The entire city was about to be thrusted into chaos and Peter was right in the middle of it.
"Mary Jane," Spider-Man began, closing the distance between them, his usual jovial spirit replaced with a tone of the utmost urgency. She had to know that this was serious. "I need you to listen to me. When did you get back in New York? I mean, what were you doing before I took out that goon?" He finished, taking a deep breath before he speaking again. "We are all in some hot mess right now MJ. I'm sorry but I need to know everything that is going on"

Mary Jane watched as he kept going on in that tone of his he got whenever things started getting weird. He rarely got like this unless he thought something was wrong, and based by the urgency of his questions he gathered he didn't know much of anything! She resisted the internal urge to get frightened. He was talking as if he knew her personally, which meant right now he wasn't caring about his secret identity. That in and of itself was adding an element of risk that seemed to just keep raising the stakes the longer this conversation went on. She was feeling a faint chill now, the 50 degree or so New York weather biting at her. She was shivering now, putting her hands up to her windbreaker as she closed it between a clasp of her fingers. The wind blowing cast her bright red hair behind her like a flag, whipping up quickly as she pulled some of it out of her eyes with her free hand. She looked at him strangely, then began answering his questions. "Spider-Man, I got here about three hours ago. My plane touched down, and I got a quick hotel room and a bite to eat and then headed down to the gym across the street." she points at the Gold's Gym and it's yellow sign heralding its presence. "If you must know..." she says smugly. "... I got the role of Heather Armstrong in the upcoming action trilogy... that is, IF I can put on about 40 lbs. of muscle between now and the Fall season." she answered. She then tossed a thumb in the directed of the webbed creeper. "And that guy was ogling me at the gym and chased me out the door. I don't know what's going on. What is this? Another Galactoid attack or something?" she asked, crossing her arms as she let out a chilly shiver.

"Spider-Man, I got here about three hours ago. My plane touched down, and I got a quick hotel room and a bite to eat and then headed down to the gym across the street. Mary Jane answered, pointing towards the gym on the other side. Peter listened intently as she went on to explain that she had recently obtained a role in an upcoming action film franchise and was working out in order to prepare for the role. The life of a Hollywood actor, Peter thought as he took it all in. Even when she was starring on Broadway, Mary Jane was always dedicated to the acting game. She would go to great lengths in order to prepare for a role, no matter what it was. She would often throw herself into her rehearsals so much that he barely had time to see her. While this did work great with his life as Spider-Man, it still was a bit of a hindrance to their relationship.
Peter frowned under his mask as she asked about the strange Aurora Borealis effect that had taken place in the sky. This was the hard part, Peter realized as he let go of her. He carefully picked the words he was going to say before actually saying them. If anything, it would help cushion the confusion and possible pain that may ensue the moment he finished.
"It's much worse, MJ," Spider-Man started, decreasing the distance between the two of them. "Not to mention incredibly complicated. You remember me telling you about Thanos right? Well some how, he got control of the Infinity Gauntlet again. During a fight with the Avengers, he activated the gauntlet and using the Time and Space gems, he somehow trapped us here in New York City. We're completely cut off from the rest of the world and we have no way to communicate with anyone beyond the borough limits." He said, pausing to gage her reaction before continuing.
"The moment Cap and I figured it out, I ran out to check on Aunt May, only to remember that she was out of town with Jay for a while. Then you showed up and well, here we are." He finished.
This was so complicated, Peter thought as he stared back into her green orbs. They had no clue of the scope of this scenario and were still trying to figure out everything. Everything was "Crazy town Banana Pants" as Peter would say.
"Mary Jane....I'm sorry. I know this may come as a shock for you, I know it happened to me too. But we're still trying to figure everything out."

Mary Jane wasn't sure if she should slap him across the face, push him off the edge of the building, kiss him, or sob into his arms. Everything he was saying sounded so crazy, so incredibly outrageous that it was impossible to believe it was true! It seemed far more likely that he was trolling her, or that he was drunk, or that he was confused and had no idea what he was talking about. But the sudden rush of light and energy in the skies above them told her that wasn't true. She didn't know anything, but she trusted her gut and right now her gut was telling her that something was terribly wrong. She ran a hand over her bare stomach, feeling the queasy feeling she was now getting as he tried to explain it all to her. "Wait... wait... what?" she asked him, shaking her head. "What is much worse? What are you talking about? I just landed by plane. It came down fine. Nothing strange happened." she explained. She backtracked her thoughts, recalling the approach of the plane and how everything had worked out just fine when she got down on the ground. How could such a thing happen without a radical shift around her? Wouldn't something THAT drastic be like... an earthquake or something? She shook her head again at these thoughts. "I have no idea what a Than-nose is, or what some old metal glove has to do with it. Some strange space jewelry did all of this?" she asked him, getting anxious and somewhat panic-stricken as she did so.

This was it, Peter thought as he awaited her reaction. He wasn't exactly sure what the response was going to be, considering that Mary Jane was the very first person that he actually encountered since he and Captain America figured it all out. What made it even more difficult to predict was the fact that it WAS Mary Jane he was talking to. Even though they had spent so much time together as a couple, Mary Jane was known to be a tad unpredictable. He half expected her to laugh at him, thinking that he was just being his usual, jestful self.
As much as he wished that were true, he wasn't joking.
Her first reaction was to clench her stomach, her body shifting ever so slightly, as if she was about to cough up a lung.
"Wait... wait... what? What is much worse? What are you talking about? I just landed by plane. It came down fine. Nothing strange happened."
"So you didn't see the crazy light show in the sky? That was Thanos activating the Infinity Gauntlet and using the gems to trap us here."
He suddenly realized how crazy that sounded out loud. He slowly put his hands on her shoulders, rubbing them ever so slightly, allowing the cloth material of his gloves grace themselves across her delicate skin. He then let out a sigh and continued.
"Thanos is one of the most powerful beings in the Universe, MJ. In his possession is a device called the Infinity Gauntlet, which is powered by items called the Infinity Gems," He paused, again realizing how stupid this was saying this out loud to someone. "Long story short, the gauntlet basically granted Thanos god like powers, which he used to trap us all in New York." He finished, pulling his hands off her.
"MJ...I'm just really glad you're alright. Right now, this city is about to spiral out of control, and I need to make sure everyone I care about is going to be safe."

Mary Jane took a step back out of his touch as his fingers went to her shoulders. He was trying to be reassuring but she wasn't buying it. He had done it again. AGAIN. No matter how many times they tried, it always came back to events like these in their lives. Events that would forever tear them apart and ensure that they would never. EVER be together. Her hair blew a little in the wind, her eyes set on his features. She shook her head a minute, putting both of her palms up. "Whoa, whoa, whoa..." she she said quickly, her mind catching up with what he is saying. "How can you act so simple about this? You are telling me some sort of cosmic god is playing god right now, because of some sort of mystical set of jewels? Peter... this..." she said, her anger bubbling under the surface. She was so angry at him right now, even if a great deal of it was probably not his fault. The thing with Peter was that a lot of bad things happened because of him even if it wasn't his fault. It was just the pain and suffering one endured even knowing the man. "...this is not okay. I was doing good. No, I was doing GREAT!" she said, putting her left hand on her hip as her right hand jabbed a finger into his chest. "I came here to move on with my life, not get thrown back into some sort of world shaking mess!" she protested. The roof, previously a safe spot from the dregs down on the surface streets, suddenly felt a great deal less safe knowing that this huge galactic event was taking place over their heads. And to make matters worse, there was nothing she could do about it.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa...How can you act so simple about this? You are telling me some sort of cosmic god is playing god right now, because of some sort of mystical set of jewels? Peter... this......this is not okay. I was doing good. No, I was doing GREAT!I came here to move on with my life, not get thrown back into some sort of world shaking mess!" She protested, her finger jabbing into the spider emblem on his chest.
"You think this is simple for me?" Peter said, throwing his hands up in a defensive gesture. "I literally just found out about all this too MJ! You think I'm not worried about everyone in the city? About Aunt May, Jay, or you?" He paced, stepping around in a small circle before turning back to face her. "Mary Jane, it's taking EVERYTHING I have within me not to freak the heck out right now! Don't blame me for any of this! It's not like I WANTED everyone to get trapped in this city!"
Spider-Man turned away for brief second, trying to control his breathing. The discovery of Thanos' deeds was weighing down on him, only adding more stress to his already stressful life. He didn't mean to snap at Mary Jane like that, but her misplaced blame in him wasn't helping his nerves. For once, Peter wasn't at fault for this situation. If she wanted to be angry at someone, it should be Thanos.
"Look MJ, I'm sorry but this is NOT the time for an argument." He said finally, closing the gap between them. "If you want to blame someone for this, blame Thanos."

Mary Jane crossed her arms as she watched him pace about the rooftop for a moment. Typical Peter. Everything is going to hell and back, he has no idea what's going on, yet it isn't his fault. She crossed her arms over her chest as she shifted her weight to her right side, letting out a sigh in the dark night's air. She wanted nothing to do with this. She did not want to be standing on a rooftop back in New York, just chased down by some creepy stalker perv, just so she could be told that the city was trapped under the thumb of some sort of space deity. Or a guy that was acting like a space deity. Whatever. Her eyes looked him over, and he seemed even more out of it by this sudden realization that she was. He looked about ready to panic, which told her he probably really didn't know what was going on after all. Peter was good at thinking on his feet however, and if anyone could could come up with some sort of clue or idea as what to do now, it was him. "Alright. Let's say I believe you, and all of this. What do you plan to do about it now? And what do you expect me to do?" she asked him directly, the last several minutes having left her on much the same sort of edge that he was. The wind was catching her hair, and the chill of the breeze reminded her that she was standing on a rooftop in a dangerous city that was likely going to be thrown into full-fledged chaos at any moment now.

"Alright. Let's say I believe you, and all of this. What do you plan to do about it now? And what do you expect me to do?" Mary Jane asked him directly, the wind catching her hair.
With a tired sigh, Peter rolled up his mask up to his eyes, just for Mary Jane to look into his hazel eyes and see that he wasn't joking around. With his mask full tucked down, it was hard for anyone to tell exactly what the web slinger was feeling, but now that she could see his face, everything would be displayed right in front of her. His eyes were wide, his irises dilated with worry as sweat rolled down his face. He was tired yet on edge at the same time. The whole world was going to hell and he had front row seats for it.
"I don't know Mary Jane," Peter said, wiping the sweat from his brow with his right hand, the liquid staining his red glove. "I honestly don't understand the full scope of this event. We're all trying to figure it out still. I don't know how long it will take for us to figure out a solution."
In that moment, Peter reached out to grip her shoulders lightly, determination masking his tired features. "What I do know however is that things are about to get even crazier. I'm talking Super Human Registration Act level crazy. MJ, I need you to trust me. I'm gonna do my best to figure out a solution with the other big brains."
With that, Peter rolled his mask back down and looked up at the sky, as if he were trying to spot the Mad Titan himself. It was his fault that they were trapped in this mad city and he was going to answer for his actions one day.
But that day wasn't today.
"It's getting pretty late MJ, do you want me to take you home?" Spider-Man asked, turning back to face his ex-girlfriend.
