Bobby Drake // Iceman

Bobby Drake, or better known from his CODE-NAME Iceman is one of the founding members of the growing community of the X-Men. Ever since he became an x-man, Bobby has evolved into a more carefree spirit letting his humor direct his actions. As with many of the unique individuals who make up the x-men Bobby was hunted for his mutation and was pushed into the incomparable experiences he was forced to make. It was because of this event early in his life where Bobby was molded into his personality. Bobby is very defensive of those who he finds to be close to him, maybe so others wouldn't feel as hunted and tortured as he did.



Bobby is also considered to be quite the jokester, at least in his own mind. Most of time his carefree nature takes over and consists of bad puns and corny jokes. Pulling from his sense of humor Bobby is painstakingly honest and always speaks what is on his mind. Most of time his carefree nature takes over and consists of bad puns and corny jokes. However it stands to reason to the people closest to him. Bobby may joke around but he can be one of the most serious fighters in a life or death situation.



When Bobby is not fighting the good fight as the “Iceman” he simply arranges himself into an average appearance for individual of his height and build. At a first glance you would tell Bobby was any different from others hailing from his little town in Long Island. His short brown hair and average build give Bobby the appearance not unlike anyone else. When he molds himself into the Iceman his appearance changes drastically. When Bobby first gained control of his powers his appearance in ice form closely resembled a snowman, stemming from his inexperience controlling his powers. Throughout his adventures with the X-Men Bobby has gained massive control of his powers, shifting his ice appearance. With his new knowledge about his powers, Bobby is able to cover his body with a form of organic ice adopting a new crystalline figure to his form becoming almost translucent.

Omega level mutant: Bobby has the potential of CONTROLLING a vast amount of power due to the nature of his mutation and abilities

Cryokinesis: Iceman can lower the temperature of his body and the air around him resulting in varying forms of ice to replace his body. He is also capable of molding himself into a form of organic ice with the ability of reforming his body even if it was shattered.

Bobby is also able to create different forms of constructs out of the ice he commands, such as slides, ladders, and projectiles. His ice slide is a trademark as Iceman.

Bobby also holds the ability to create alternate ice forms with the moisture in the air although it takes a lot of concentration.


Bobby has been trained in unarmed combat, tactics, and resisting mental attacks. Having the same amount of training as various x-men such as Cyclops.

In his early years Bobby was like every other kid growing up in the suburbs of Long Island. That is however until one fateful date in his youth. In an altercation with a local bully Bobby threw his mutation into full swing. Encasing his "foe" in a block of ice, Bobby soon became hunted by his friends and neighbors. It was then that Bobby was discovered by the Mutant activist Professor Xavier. Brought under Xavier's tutelage Bobby was soon accepted into his new family of the X-Men.



Being the youngest member Bobby soon fell under the category of class clown. Bobby's unique outlook on his mutation soon earned him the title as the most relateble of the X-Men as well. Through his many years at the Xavier's School for Extraordinary Youngsters, Bobby was faced with many challenges that threatened not only him but his entire new family. Whether it was an internal issue or an outside Bobby would look at the new challenge with the same wonder as a child and face it head on. Being one of the original X-Men Bobby was guided and mentored by the idea that peace should one day be for everyone. As homage to his cryokinesis, Bobby would take the code-name Iceman. Iceman joined his fellow mutants to defend the wonder of the Xavier dream of peace and hope for mutant-kind.



Wanting to experience the world, the ice-clad hero departed with a heavy heart from his family at the Xavier institute looking forward. Through his years as Iceman Bobby has time and again helped to save the world from all kinds of internal and external threats. With every new challenge, Bobby was shown the struggles that his mentor tried to prepare him for. With his family of X-Men at his back Bobby pushed through every encounter with the same outlook, the same icy smirk on his face.

After a completion of a degree in accounting at USLC bobby gained a better understanding about his mutant-kind and the mission of his mentor xavier. wanting to reach back into the mutant community bobby looked to a new group who shared his new ideas. in which he found a similar goal with his former teammates with the creation of the group x-factor. under the code-name of x-factor bobby and his former x-men teammates beast, cyclops, angel, and jean grey collected young mutants across the world to train and prepare them for the world they live in. with x-factor bobby faced haunting VILLAINS such as APOCALYPSE and his own alliance of evil. during his run with the x-factor bobby's powers began to reach their point of deterioration. after returning to his ORIGINAL team of x-men bobby's powers reached their breaking point, forcing him to mutate further, into a form of living ice as to his form that everyone knows today.

Through the events following the m-day iceman became one of the many mutants to be apparently ripped of his powers due to the reality warping abilities of the scarlet witch. a deep secret of the ice-clad hero was a rooted desire not to lose control of his powers and hurt innocent. it was this realization from within him that forced him to block his powers SUBCONSCIOUSLY. After a small soul searching EXPERIENCE with Emma Frost allowed him to remove such a block on his mind, restoring his abilities. Since his restoration of his powers, bobby has removing his self given limits striving to achieve a more powerful state so he can TRULY live up to his EXPECTATIONS 

It wasn't long before iceman was thrown back into the fray protecting his mutant ideals and family. with the time traveling cable returning to the present with news that will shake the entirety of the harsh future. with the EMERGENCE of the PHOENIX force back into the world, iceman along with many of hie fellow x-men feel that the growing power of the PHOENIX five will ultimately lead into a future that will destroy the world itself. while at first iceman was on the side of CYCLOPS at the start of the conflict, as time progresses and his ideas are corrupted iceman slowly finds himself fighting for the wrong cause and flips sides to help. it is however without CONSEQUENCE. as cyclops becomes deeply tainted by the mysterious power of the phoenix force, the hope for a safe future is waning. with the death of professor xavier iceman's world is turned upside down. with cyclops' mind taken over by the cosmic phoenix force the division of mutants became clear. even with the defeat of the cyclops and the phoenix force, things will not return to normal. the rift between each mutant is too great to repair. while iceman will always look at cyclops as an older brother in his new family, the ideas he SPONSORS now is something he can not follow. with a heavy heart iceman joins wolverine and his other x-men as he splits away from cyclops and the UTOPIA he has to join the world to help spread xavier's dream of peace for all. 

Long Island, New York

Bobby slowly walked the old streets of his childhood neighborhood. The cool spring breeze blew past his face, trying to break past his icy interior. It had been such a long time since Bobby had the time to walk these lone streets again. Bobby found a small smile break through his face. Even after all this time, all the struggling with being a mutant, Bobby still felt a loneliness rushing through him. Bobby's smile dimmed once the view of his old house came into his view. The same blue tone of the walls, the white edging, the red door. Not much had changed since his mutation changed his whole world. He stood there for a few moments before he was able to move himself towards the door He felt the lump in his throat triple in size. Bobby began to pace himself as he stepped closer and closer. Soon he reached the door, almost shaking, he rose a fist and knock three times in succession.

Minutes past before the door opened for him. What he saw was not the loving sight of his parents. He found a middle aged woman staring back at him, the faint yelling of children in the background. "Oh hello" She chirped out.
Bobby tried to speak but his state of shock made it very difficult.
"Can I help you with something?" She asked, concern in her voice.
"I-I am looking for the Drake residence" he finally said, stuttering as it leaves his lips.
"Oh I'm sorry they don't live here anymore"
"Oh ok" Bobby stepped away feeling lost. After all these years it seemed as the only thing that changed about about his neighborhood was the fact that his parents no longer live there.

Dejected Bobby began to walk away. He wanted to leave and never come back, after all these years he was no closer to having some closer with his parents. It was then he heard a familiar yell from behind him.
"Oh my god Bobby?!"
Pausing for a few moments Bobby finally recognized her. "Judy?" Bobby said through a half smirk.
Judy was Bobby's first girlfriend during the time where Bobby's mutation came through.
Bobby stood in shock at her. The years have certainly been good to her. "Judy wow I haven't seen you in.... How are you" he said, trying to leave out his unfortunate mutation exposure.
"I've been great. I've been at school for a while getting my phd, just here to visit my parents. "
Judy looked back at Bobby and gave a small smile. It wasn't much, a small gesture but it made him feel just that much better. It wasn't that everything was suddenly all better. Far from the truth. Everything was different and he would have to deal with it. But this small smile, this small little gesture this old friend gave him. It gave him the sense that things had a chance to be better.
The two walked side by side once again. As if they were teenagers again. As if nothing mattered. Bobby grew his trademark smile on his face, "So this snowman meets this rabbi on the street" he starts to say. Some things never change.

As if some OUT WORLDLY entity found out bobby was in a somewhat happy place at this moment in time, the havens lit up above him. bobby felt the immense serge of energy blow through the streets, shattering windows and launching cars into a state of panic. that's when bobby noticed it. like someone had taken the sky, ripped it into a bunch of pieces and tried to glue everything back together. whatever just happened it was bad. bobby quickly surveyed the scene with judy clutching onto him for safety.as far as he could see the rest of the block looked fine, beaten up but enough that he could leave and find out what happened. slowly he PRIED judy off his arm and softy spoke to her. 
"Judy i need you to go home, i need you to go and stay inside"
She looked at him with heavy eyes, fearful eyes, before running off without a word. "the overall struggle of the superhero" bobby thought to himself as he took off to the bustle of the city. business as usual.
