It was kinda vital that they get money. Food was important and although he could steal some food it wasn't right. Loki knew that his brother would starve rather than do such things but sometimes one just had to take that extra leap. Besides, he was going to try and earn some money. That was what he had set off to do this morning with a spring in his step and a magpie following behind. All pretty normal.
So why was he running now?
It had taken a good portion of the morning to find what he had been looking for. Then he was turned away because he didn't have any money. At least it wasn't because they recognised him. So he had scrounged together some money. And a beautiful breakfast consisting of bacon. Ikol didn't eat any of it but just sat there, watching the people go by. Well, each to their own. Now with some currency that declared it's worth to be ten, the trickster tried to enter again and they tried to turn him aside but his words won out, eventually. So he went in to gamble. Something he was very good at.
It had been hot inside the room but he daren't remove the black coat (That he had stolen little over a day ago) he wore over his clothing, nor would he remove the hood that covered his head and the circlet that rested on his head. He was just a boy who was going to gamble. Totally unsuspecting.
The gambling had gone fine. His money quickly rose from ten to one hundred. And rose further still. Sure he was cheating but these people seemed to have it to spare. Or maybe they didn't. He could see the look of desperation in their eyes. They were addicted. Ikol saw this too and warned him to cut it short. They were all older and if it came to a fight he would loose his winnings. So Loki had set off with just shy of two hundred. The doorman asked how much he had lost and Loki simply smiled and waved.
It wasn't long after this that the trickster got in trouble. A pack of hungry looking teenagers had been watching the doorway, eyes blazing, mouths drooling. Well, that might be a bit of an overstatement but Loki was inclined to do such things to his stories. Or else lie about them completely.
They tailed him. It didn't take long for the trickster to notice. He had eyes in the sky after all and Ikol had been quick to inform him of the dangers. Also turned out that one of the men from the gambling was also making his way after the trickster.
"Can I ever not get into trouble, Ikol?" He asked the bird as Ikol directed him away from a trap that the teenagers had managed to set. After an hour, both parties were getting annoyed. It was lunch time and he hadn't even had a chance to get anything to eat!
"They're running," Ikol warned and Loki broke into a run himself, dodging people while Ikol gave him directions. This day certainly wasn't going to plan. There was no way he could talk them out of it which was his normal way of dealing with these sorts of situations. He turned around another corner with Ikol just infront of him. He didn't even have his magic to help him.
"Time to be resourceful, Ikol?" He asked, barely a pant in his breath.
Together, the two headed up a fire escape and for the first time in a while, he caught sight of his chasers, all closing in on him. He reached the top and managed to pull himself onto the top of the building and cast a quick glance around. Right. It appeared that he would be stuck here. Good. He ran forwards, taking in the distance to the next roof top. It was further than a human should be able to manage. But not too far for an Asgardian.
"Jump now," Ikol advised and he catapulted forwards, rolling to safety on the other roof. He took in a deep breath. Safe. Although getting down did seem to be a bit of a problem. This building didn't have a fire escape.
((Note: Hope this is OK. If anything needs changing, just tell me.))
